In the room, two kittens scurried about, tussling with each other.

Bits of edible rice paper stuck to the edge of the wrapper.
Cool air cascaded from the AC vent, but it couldn’t extinguish the mory of that cloying, sweet aroma.
He could almost see it again: Li Zhi’s fingertips bringing the candy toward his own lips, a crumb of edible rice paper glistening in the seam of hers.
He saw the candy slide around in the beautiful girl’s mouth and felt his own heart pound in his chest.
He unconsciously tightened his grip on his pen.
As his tongue touched the roof of his mouth, a phantom stickiness spread from his molars. The sensation of the candy clinging to his teeth was incredibly vivid.
Li Zhi felt a familiar heat creeping up the tips of her ears.
The beautiful girl raised a hand, brushing it gently across her cheek before it ca to rest on her earlobe.

She had missed one.
Li Zhi lowered her gaze, staring at the lone blue-and-white candy in the side pocket.
Her fingertips hovered over the nylon fabric for a mont before she suddenly reached in and hooked the candy out.
Amid the drone of the air conditioner, she unhurriedly peeled away the wrapper.
The milky-white candy, wrapped in a translucent layer of edible rice paper, made a faint rustling sound as she unwrapped it.
Looking at the candy in her hand, Li Zhi brought it to her lips.
The instant her tongue touched the candy, the edible rice paper dissolved like first snow, and a rich, milky fragrance flooded her senses.
Li Zhi reflexively held the candy between her teeth. It was still hard.
Once in her mouth, the candy began to lt on her tongue, the flavor like syrup being poured over her teeth.
After tossing the wrapper into the trash can, Li Zhi stood up and walked to the bathroom, the half-lted candy held between her teeth. Sticky syrup swirled over her tongue with each step.
Steam filled the bathroom, instantly enveloping her bare skin. The milky scent of the candy mingled with the fragrance of her body wash, tangling in the air.
Just as the hot stream from the showerhead cascaded over her collarbone, the candy dissolved into a final wisp of sweetness. Her tongue unconsciously swept across her teeth, as if searching for any lingering trace of it.
Shen Yuan walked out of the bathroom after drying his hair.
He’d showered quickly, and the candy in his mouth hadn’t completely lted yet.
’Can’t let Li Zhi know I snuck a piece of candy.’
Shen Yuan thought as he lay in bed.
After scrolling on his phone for a while, he saw it was getting late and sent Li Zhi a ssage.

Early the next morning, the mont Shen Yuan pushed open his security door, he instinctively tightened his grip on his backpack strap.
