Now reading: Chapter 122: First from In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL], a Yaoi novel by ladyaize.

The teleportation gate was a revolutionary item that was discovered inside an unranked gate by the Lilac Guild about three years later, which made transportation and deploynt easier for the Guilds later on.

The cost was high, so it was not available yet to the public, but the wealthy, of course, could use it. Rise had set his eyes on it; he did not care too much for the profit it could amass for him. He only needed the mobility it would give to his forces.

His ambition to envelope the whole federation was not just for show; he was really aiming for that. His information network would be spread by this thod, teleporting the mbers anywhere, as long as the other end was installed.

"Is this really a gate?" A man with a thin build asked in curiosity.

Since they arrived and the gate detector confird that it was a gate, the mbers did not feel any mana fluctuation at all. Given it was an unranked gate, however, after entering they still had not felt anything, even just a sliver point of mana.

Not just him; the others had similar suspicions. Was this really a gate or an ordinary basent?

"It should be..." The tall man in front, obviously the leader of the team, gripped the sword he was holding and nodded. "That person said so." His tone carried indescribable emotions but mostly fear.

As soon as he ntioned ’that person’, everyone had to shut up; their hearts were tense. It was as though even just thinking of ’that person’ they would instantly be overco by the terror of death.

The leash that Rise on them was as strong as ever.

In front of Rise, they had to call him ’master’, but when he was not around, no one even dared to call him master and just ntion the word ’that person.’

The group continued; they did not doubt the gate anymore, at least outwardly. In the silent path, only their footsteps echoed. With caution, they did not hasten their pace and continued as slowly as before.

What was odd was that they did not encounter any monsters, but they were only walking through a long corridor. At first glance, the whole place really did seem like one’s secret path underground.

The leader of the group was also uncertain if this was truly a gate or if he just entered one’s secret path, thinking it was a gate that their master told them to enter.

If it was indeed the case, then damn, they only wasted their ti.

While stressing on this, the group finally arrives at the end of the long path. They then found themselves facing a huge golden door. The mbers behind could not help but gulp at the sight of pure gold.

The door still shimred despite the darkness, blinding their greed.

They were now part of Rise’s force, but their nature was still there, and Rise did not intend to change them.

Sensing the distraction of his mbers and also his own, the leader suppressed everyone’s greed by reminding them of why they were there.

"We can look for spoils later; we have to complete the mission given by the master first."

This was truly effective, as the mbers’ faces seed like they had been drenched by cold water after the leader ntioned to their master the mission he had given.

The leader nodded at this; there was no better way to discipline his n now than ntioning their devil incarnate master.

"Be alert; I’m opening the door!" He shouted, putting both hands at the door, intending to push it. Counting into three, the leader opened the shining golden door.

The group set to their positions and stepped inside, and once they all entered, everyone froze.

It was not because there were a lot of monsters waiting for them there... Their gaze only beca fixated on the shining and shimring gold!

They were everywhere! No, not just gold, but more so...

"Fuck! Hill of mana stones?" One could not help but exclaim, huffing with greed.

There were treasures everywhere inside the huge room. Gold, mana stones of different grades, jewels... even artifacts!

They struck it rich! If they could get their hands on everything, their life would be comfortable until they die. They did not need to be like slaves anymore. They could have everything here; who cares if... wait...

Suddenly, the greed that was slowly rooting in their hearts paused. Each and every mber, including the leader, went pale in an instant. Their eyes bulged with terror.

They gripped their chests where their aching hearts were throbbing and took a step back, as if afraid of the treasures that were seducing them.

"That... That was so close." The leader weakly spoke; he looked at his chest and at his hands.

He did not transform into a treant monster, fortunately. After checking himself, he also turned to his mbers and sighed with relief when he saw that everyone managed to hold back their malicious thoughts at the last minute.

No one transford into a Treant monster.

The group recovered but did not dare to look for too long at the shiny treasures.

The leader now had a conflicted emotion as he looked at the treasures and at what happened to them just a mont earlier. He rembered the smile that their master gave him when he asked if they had to bring a lot of mbers to raid the gate.

"You don’t need to." Rise smiled at that, looking amusingly at the leader. "Each one of you can pass that place just fine."

The leader thought that Rise was referring to the low rank of the gate, but... Who knew it was like this? They really could pass the place just fine; the seed of betrayal in their hearts was one that made it happen.

This was a place where greed would overco everything, however... In the shackles of death that Rise held on them, even greed would be defeated.

They could beco sober in an instant; their minds would never be manipulated. Only Rise could.

Carefully, the group moved once more; this ti, they were finding one item.

"Is this it?" Soone muttered, pointing at the huge fra-li structure.

The leader approached. "That’s the one." He sighed with relief and prepared to store it in the space artifact that Rise provided.

When it was already stored, everyone could not help but wipe their invisible sweat. This was a simple and safe journey, but the terror it gave them was just like a life-and death battle.

He then turned to others; he ordered in a serious tone.

"The master also reminded ..." He looked at everything; the greed was still inside, but the thought of becoming a treant monster greatly held him back. "We have to get everything here..."

Everything.

The others gulped but they were only excited. Although the treasures would not directly go to their pockets, just touching them was already a life-changing mont!

Soon, the treasures were packed; nothing was left! Even though the door was not spared, it also had a great value. Halfway through packing the treasures, one mber noticed a peculiar artifact.

He stared at it for a few seconds; it was as though sothing was bewitching him. However, he only blinked and put the artifact in the storage with fear.

His heart began to ache, and a few sprouts were starting to appear on his hands. That was close yet again. This was rely an episode as he continued packing the treasures.

Of course, Rise was in for a surprise after he returned.

And it would not only be him.

Hours after the group left the room and began the journey to their headquarters, an unfamiliar individual arrived at the sa location.

The person frowned, looking at the rummaged room and the obviously destroyed door, which was already nowhere to be found.

He looked around for a mont, standing frozen where he stood. After a while, he sighed.

"Soone arrived here before ." His voice was low and eerie.

One after another, unpredictable variables appeared. He soon left as well. Unbeknownst to him, he triggered sothing just by being inside the room, sothing that the group left under Rise’s instruction as well.

His appearance would never be hidden from now on.

Of course, the result of this venture and the subsequent surprises would have to wait until Rise returned.

"They should have acquired it by now," Rise whispered, his eyes lingered in Thalia’s face.

He was very relaxed about this, since he knew that his underlings would not be affected by the room. The reason this gate killed so many people was that they themselves killed each other due to greed.

Rise’s underlings would not have that issue, the seed of betrayal not only rooted in their hearts but also in the phsychological aspect. He knew that much.

He stared at Thalia for a few minutes before deciding to leave. It was expected that she would rest for a few days more. Her wounds were already healed, and that put him at ease.

"Don’t worry..." Rise leaned and whispered, his gaze dark and filled with murderous intention. "...and just rest."

Rise stood up and fixed his clothes; he then brushed his hair with his fingers as he walked towards the door. Before long, he was already standing in front of a window, looking outside emotionlessly.

Danich... He repeated that na all over again.

It seems we’re fated, huh? Rise smiled, insane madness etched within.

He rembered when they first t; in fact, it was still vivid.

Rise blinked, and the mories flashed on him.

"Do you know your fate, human? It’s to be my pet’s food."

The voice seed to whisper in his ears. Rise’s lips hooked in a twisted smile. His hand reached out and touched his face, tracing the smile, which only widened in an exaggerated way.

"Haah, I can’t wait to see you, my first predator."
