There was a knock on the door.
"Please. Co in." Carter said.
A man in a well dressed suit ca inside.
"Dr. Victor Frankenstein! It’s a pleasure to et you."
They shook hands.
"Likewise. May I ask for your na, Mister..."
The man chuckled gently, "Doctor actually. I’m Doctor Larry Hugo. I wasn’t in the Institute when you brought Dr. Parker inside."
"Ah. Dr. Hugo. I did hear about you. Your work in Blood Transfusion is very comndable."
Larry scratched his head. "My work is nothing compared to you, Dr. Frankenstein. You have solved a mystery that the entire Anglas can’t solve."
Carter shook his head, "I didn’t solve it, Dr. Hugo. There were many more brilliant n before that solved it and perfected it. I only had excellent teachers."
"Oh. How much would I pay to be taught by those teachers as well."
Larry sighed. Then he placed a docunt and a dallion on the table.
"As the board has decided, they would like to offer you a position in the Institute. We don’t have a title for you yet since all roles are filled. But feel free to tell us one you have it.
This is a Certification and an Enthrall dallion. We know we don’t deserve your genius but we hope you can stay and join us."
Carter picked up the docunt. It was easier and much quicker than he thought. He saw an opportunity and showed his skills to the right people. Now, he had gained an identity within this world.
"Thank you, Dr. Hugo. Please give my thanks to the board.
And of course, I would love to join the Enthrall Institute. We’re colleagues now."
"Haha. Yes, we are!"
"As for my title, I think surgeon has a nice ring to it. A doctor with specialty in surgery."
Larry rubbed his chin, "We have an Herbalist Head. A Pathologist Head. A Psychologist Head. There’s also that General Physician Departnt. We really don’t have a Surgery Departnts yet.
How do you feel about becoming the Head of Surgeons, Dr. Frankenstein?"
"That would be my honor."
Words about a new doctor arriving in the Institute quickly spread in the city of Luandon. Doctor Victor Frankenstein with his supre surgery skill and knowledge. He had saved Dr. William Parker, a very beloved physician within the city.
For a few days, Carter didn’t go to the quarantined zones. Instead, he stayed at the Enthrall Institute to fulfill his role as the head of surgeon. He taught many doctors the proper techniques and knowledge of surgery. He also treated many patients.
Each action contributed to raise the reputation of Dr. Frankenstein in Luandon even more. The Institute paid him 50 pounds per week, which was 700 pounds per year. A salary that exceeded most salary n in this world. That wasn’t counting the teachings and personal patient that Carter also might have.
He officially no longer needed to worry about money.
Carter was working inside his office at night. He was analyzing the Extracted Corruption. He began to learn more and more about its properties each and every single day. The ti it took for him to actually make use of it was closer and closer.
Suddenly, there was a knock on his door, "Dr. Frankenstein! We need your help."
"Coming, Nurse Jenner." Carter recognized that voice. It was the voice of the head nurse of the Enthrall Institute.
He quickly cleaned up his bench and hid the Extracted Corruption inside the Brewer’s Chest.
Carter was wearing the doctor’s white coat at the ti.
Nurse Jenner led him to the ergency room. He spotted a few n standing outside the room, covering in blood that wasn’t theirs.
His nose twitched gently as he slled sothing very familiar. The sll of wet dog.
Carter frowned deeply.
’Sa sll on Primrose. Are they the sa types of Awaken?’
The n approached Carter.
"Are you Dr. Frankenstein?" A man said.
"I am." Carter nodded.
"My friend lost a lot of blood. Please perform your miracle and save him!"
"I will do my best. Please stay out here."
Carter put on his surgery gown and entered the ergency room.
The patient was a young man that got his stomach carved out by so sort of beast.
"What happened? Was he bitten by a lion or sothing?" Carter said.
"The relatives of the patient said they encountered so wolves in the forest." Nurse Jenner said.
"Wolves, huh?"
’I wonder if they’re werewolves. It’s the only explanation on why they sll like dog.’
The guts of the patient poured out of his stomach. Luckily, his guts weren’t damaged yet so no harmful toxin had leaked out.
"Give my surgery knife, Nurse Jenner."
"Yes, doctor!"
Carter fulfilled his duty as before. The nurses and doctors assisted him with utmost concentration. They admired him and were always impressed to observe him work.
The patient was saved. For now.
Carter checked the temperature of the patient after the surgery. He was hot. Usually hot for a human. Primrose was also the sa.
’They are definitely not human’
"Nurse Jenner. Take so of the patient’s blood so I can check what his blood type is."
"Of course, doctor."
He needed the blood to help him, that was true. But he also wanted it for analyst. Blood was the source of all power in this world. He had a feeling he would find out more about these ’werewolves’ via their blood.
Carter quickly determined the blood type of the patient and had a nurse fetched him so blood in the blood bank. The Blood Transfusion was a very simple process and he had taught everyone in the Institute to do it.
Carter left the nurse to finish the Blood Transfusion. He went out and t with the patient’s ’relatives’ instead.
"How is he, Dr. Frankenstein?" The man said.
"He is stable. We are giving him new blood at the mont. He should be fine but he needs a few more days to recover."
"That is a relief. We knew we should have co to you, Dr. Frankenstein. No other doctor could save him like you do."
"One question." Carter said. "The temperature of the patient is very high. But he doesn’t seem to be in a fever. Does he have any dical history about high body temperature?"
The n froze instantly as Carter ntioned it. He could read the worry in their faces.
A man clear his throat and said, "We... Our family has a natural high temperature compared to normal people."
Carter smiled knowingly, "I see..."
