Having completed a total of four construction projects from the wee hours in the morning until now, I feel like I was sent to be a builder and not a doctor, much less a royal envoy. Why is this job so labor-intensive anyways?

Since the community kitchen is up, I decided to do what I usually did back in Hoffen City which is cook for a community lunch. I started pulling out firewood, pots, chopping boards, knives and various ingredients from my storage much to the surprise of the onlookers. I started washing stuff at my newly built make shift sink and faucet then started al preparation quietly. This is my first step as a doctor since I am planning to cook so dicinal porridge to address so basic issues like malnourishnt and honestly, just hunger.

I prepared the porridge ingredients including so shredded wild pork and even started boiling so bird eggs that I will serve together with the porridge for added nutrition. I also plan to stir fry so vegetables and serve so fruit juice for added color. The community kitchen has 6 wood fire stoves since wood is the most common fuel in these parts and it is not like a gas stove will be useful at these tis.

Just for boiling eggs for about two hundred people has already occupied two stoves with two pots of boiling slightly salty water in it. Seeing that I was busying up in the kitchen on my own and with the sheer number of eggs on those pots, so of the married n with a few young children started walking nearer and nearer to .

Finally, one brave soul, a child not more than 10 years old, approached and asked how he can help so that everybody can be fed. I smiled at the child and patted his head a bit. Since I can’t make him use any of the huge knives I have, I asked him to wash the vegetables and fruits properly instead. The child bead at and then bolted back. When he ca back, he was already holding a basin from his ho to help out.

Seeing that even a child understood what I was trying to do and doing his part, other young children who seed to be friends with the first child, ran to their hos to do the sa. Before I knew it, I have a kitchen brigade of vegetable and fruit washers of about a dozen children which looked quite lively and fun to look at.

The adults looked at as if asking if I would accept help from older people since I am honestly soone who doesn’t look quite approachable on the get go. One of my kitchen brigade mbers saw who seems to be an older brother in the crowd so he ran and pulled him towards . The child then started blabbering that his brother knows how to cook and can help chop so stuff at least.

I looked at the guy who is looking at hopefully as if it is his greatest honor to help out. I nodded and he bead just like his younger brother. With one person and a dozen children already leading by example, more help ca before I knew it and work beca lighter for everyone. It was also easier for since sobody is chopping the vegetables, looking after the pork and shredding it after it was cooked, checking if the eggs are ready and then peeling the shell off of them and finally sobody is cutting up, removing the core and juicing the fruit of the day that I chose which are apples. Vitamin C is good for fixing the body and the boosting the immune system anyways.

Since my main tasks have been delegated, I just have to make sure that everybody are doing things correctly. I have a few people watching over the work of others. I don’t like being idle so I started making so slightly sweet cornbread dough for baking. The oven is the only thing that isn’t being used by my kitchen brigade as of the mont.

When I brought out two types of ingredients made of corn which are cornal and corn flour, the eyes of the people around widened at the uncommon ingredient that they must have seen for the first ti. The chief suddenly appeared beside from who knows where and asked what the yellow powder was. I simply answered that they are products made out of corn. He seed to be very interested in it and asked if I could teach them how to make it and I readily agreed.

It turns out that the lands in this area are more conducive to growing grains compared to other types of plants. They are used to faming wheat, oats, rye and rice. Any excess they produced are then brought to Bragen City which is the nearest city, for selling or trading for other food items that they do not have.

Being a business owner, an idea quickly ca to my mind. If every town or village had a specialty product, it will increase the variety of items that exist in the markets of Athanoviya Empire. If you take a specific food as your specialty and concentrate on it, you get better at it and thus better yields and resources will be used more efficiently while producing the most number of products as well. I have to tell my in-laws about this idea soon.

As a royal envoy though, I already made up my mind that Ersha will beco an agricultural town focusing on grains. Besides the previous crops that they have, it would be good to add grains that can be used as animal feed such as sorghum, millet and barley which I accidentally discovered during my travels. I am glad the plants here are quite similar to the ones back in earth.

Taking care of dosticated animals for selling and source of food is nothing but a no-brainer project at this point since this place produces grains. Selling animal feeds to other territories is a good source of inco too. These ideas were welcod by the people of the town almost instantly.

While we were working on our lunch, I decided to introduce myself formally as the royal envoy from Hoffen city and a new doctor. I also light-heartedly explained what the trading post and the little house next to it was. When the people realized how important those two seemingly unassuming structures were, they beca even more thankful for my visit but the worries that they have about the bandits lurking just outside the walls is not sothing that they can get rid off that easily.
