Lin Xinghai’s words stunned everyone.
"Really? You managed to invite other allies?" Fang Tianhe was the first to recover, his voice filled with suppressed excitent.
After all, wars between rcenary Corps were far more dangerous than fighting Zombies. Even with all his connections, he hadn’t been able to persuade a single other corps to help.
There were many reasons for this.
The high risk was just one factor. More importantly, infighting between rcenary Corps was expressly forbidden by both the rcenary Guild and the Shelters. The consequences, should anything go wrong, were easy to imagine.
In a battle like this, you had to annihilate every last mber of the opposing force. If even one person escaped, their Combat Suit recorded the fight, and the evidence was leaked, the higher-ups would be forced to act. For the sake of the Shelter’s stability, it wouldn’t matter who was right or wrong.
On top of that, when they were recruiting rcenaries, the Morgan Conglorate had spread the word that Heaven-Sundering had offended them. Every rcenary Corps knew about it.
So when you added it all up, the risks were extraordinarily high.
Of course, a high risk might be worth it for an equally high reward, but the Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps simply couldn’t offer one.
Besides, even if the Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps promised a future payout, it wasn’t the kind of agreent that could be notarized by the rcenary Guild.
For all these reasons, no one had even considered asking other rcenary Corps for help.
"I did invite allies, but it’s not what you think. Only five people are coming," Lin Xinghai said with a smile. "But all five are Superpower Users, and they’re bringing a cha."
When they heard the first part of Lin Xinghai’s explanation—that he’d only brought in five people—looks of disappointnt crossed their faces. But when they heard the second part—that all five were Superpower Users and they had a cha—their expressions instantly lit up with excitent.
Five Superpower Users was a considerable fighting force on its own, but the most important part was the cha.
The Wild Wolf rcenary Corps had one more cha than them, a fact that had cost them countless hours of strategizing.
Now, with an extra cha of their own, the advantage it could provide would be nearly overwhelming.
The convoy advanced a short distance before stopping at the location Lin Xinghai had designated. Before long, an Armored Vehicle appeared, heading in their direction. It was carrying a cha.
Lin Xinghai watched its approach, his eyes narrowed. He couldn’t be sure it was the Mountain and Sea rcenary Corps, since he had never seen their Armored Vehicle or cha before.
However, as it drew closer, Lin Xinghai saw a figure standing on top of the Armored Vehicle. It was Ling Xiu, and he was waving at them.
"Captain, let make an introduction. This is Gao Mountain, the captain of the Mountain and Sea rcenary Corps," Lin Xinghai said quickly once Ling Xiu and his people were out of the vehicle.
"Hello. Thank you so much for coming to our aid. From now on, you are staunch allies of our Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps," Fang Tianhe said earnestly, extending his hand to shake Gao Mountain’s.
As he spoke, his gaze swept over Ling Xiu and the others, a hint of surprise in his eyes. He may not have t Gao Mountain before, but he certainly recognized Ling Xiu.
’Just a few days ago, they were only a small hunting squad!’
"Haha, the honor is ours as well," Gao Mountain said with a laugh.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, they didn’t linger and got back on the road. The Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps’ convoy had now grown from three Armored Vehicles to four.
Along the way, Lin Xinghai asked Ling Xiu about their situation. He learned that they had sold their multi-purpose SUV and pooled the last of their savings with the Points they’d earned over the past two days to barely afford the Armored Vehicle.
The Armored Vehicle hadn’t been modified, however, and was even missing many of its detection systems. They had been forced to bring it out as-is.
Of course, now that they had rendezvoused with the Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps, the lack of detection equipnt didn’t matter. As long as communications between the two groups remained open, they could be notified of any developnts instantly.
When the convoy set off again and Lin Xinghai returned to his vehicle, he found Fang Tianhe and the others staring at him with strange looks.
"What?" Lin Xinghai asked, the stares making his skin crawl.
Fang Tianhe didn’t ask directly. Instead, he shot a look at Roger.
Roger, having been put on the spot, looked rather helpless. He tried to organize his thoughts, opening his mouth several tis, but couldn’t seem to find the right words.
"Old Luo, this isn’t like you, hemming and hawing," Lin Xinghai said, amused.
"Fine, I’ll just ask directly," Roger said, giving up his struggle. "What’s your relationship with them? And the na of their rcenary Corps... it seems a little... particular."
At first, when they heard the na "Mountain and Sea rcenary Corps," no one thought anything of it. After all, it could allude to many things, like ancient myths or unbreakable oaths.
But after hearing their captain’s na, and seeing their enthusiastic attitude toward Lin Xinghai, they couldn’t help but start connecting the dots.
"The Mountain and Sea rcenary Corps used to be a hunting squad from the Superpower Alliance. You guys should know about them," Lin Xinghai said.
"Yeah," a few of them nodded. Not all of them had been there to pick up Lin Xinghai that day, but after Fang Tianhe brought back all that red wine, how could they not know what had happened?
"I ran two missions with them and brought them huge profits. They figured it was a good idea to stick with , so they beca my Affiliated rcenary Corps." Lin Xinghai explained it all in just a few sentences, leaving the others dumbfounded.
’An Affiliated rcenary Corps... of course they knew what that was. But wasn’t that sothing only a Third Level rcenary Corps would even consider?’
’More importantly, shouldn’t the main corps’ captain be the one to accept an affiliated group? Lin Xinghai was just a squad leader.’

But after a mont’s thought, it wasn’t that hard to understand. After all, with Lin Xinghai’s skills and status as a Divine Sharpshooter, he could certainly bring imnse benefits to a newly ford rcenary Corps.
Of course, beyond his Gun Technique, Lin Xinghai’s own terrifying growth potential was also a factor that couldn’t be ignored.
So, once they had their answer, they spent a mont wallowing in envy before accepting the reality of the situation.
The convoy moved forward at a rapid pace. The atmosphere in the vehicles felt just like any other mission, but it was also completely different. The biggest distinction was that whenever they encountered a horde of Zombies, they didn’t engage, simply ramming straight through with the Armored Vehicles.
After forty-five minutes on the road, the convoy finally reached the outskirts of Changping City.
Seeing the dense cityscape ahead, the convoy’s speed dropped instantly. At the sa ti, all detection systems were powered up to maximum.
If the Wild Wolf rcenary Corps was going to attack, a dense urban area like this, with plenty of places to hide, was undoubtedly the perfect place for an ambush.
