Wang Yao was a little dazed, but the veteran rcenaries certainly weren’t. After arriving at the Guanghan City branch base, they imdiately got out of the vehicles and fell into formation.
Although Wang Yao was a bit slow to react, she knew what she had to do. She quickly followed them out and found her squad.
The Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps had been continuously expanding, and its squads had grown to 10, with 20 people per squad.
After joining the Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps, Wang Yao was assigned to the third squad, whose captain was none other than Xu Haishui.
At this mont, Xu Haishui had none of his usual jovial deanor. With a serious expression, he gave the order to rush to the city wall after they ford up.
Although Wang Yao and the few other new mbers in the squad were afraid, they could only brace themselves and follow the squad forward.
Climbing the stairs to the top of the wall, Wang Yao felt her scalp tingle when she saw the dense horde of Zombies below, frantically scrambling up toward them.
On this side of the wall alone, there were likely as many as ten thousand Zombies trying to climb up.
Although the Zombies that managed to climb up were quickly shot and killed one by one, their falling corpses beca "stepping stones" for the ones behind them, making it easier and easier for the following Zombies to climb.
It was easy to imagine that as ti went on, the probability of the zombie tide breaching the wall would undoubtedly increase.
New mbers like Wang Yao had never seen such a massive spectacle and were incredibly nervous.
But when they saw the other mbers had already reached the edge of the wall and started firing at the Zombies below, the few new mbers in the squad could only bite the bullet and go.
However, before Wang Yao could walk over, Xu Haishui stopped her.
"Miss Wang, this is your first ti experiencing a scene like this. Just stay back, observe, and get a feel for the atmosphere. If you want so real combat experience, it’s best to join in during the Late Stage of the zombie tide. It’ll be safer then," Captain Xu said politely.
"Uh... that doesn’t seem right!" Wang Yao glanced at the other new mbers in the squad; they certainly weren’t getting the sa treatnt.
Although, as Lin Xinghai had said, new mbers wouldn’t be assigned to the front lines, they were still needed for odd jobs like helping to reload magazines and transport supplies.
"Haha, there’s nothing wrong with it. After all, you’re talented, and you’re also a Superpower User. You deserve to be treated like a prized recruit," Xu Haishui said with a chuckle, even waving over to the logistics personnel from the Military Departnt.
He had them arrange for two Combat Robots to co over and provide close protection for Wang Yao.
Seeing this preferential treatnt, the other new mbers were a bit envious, but there was nothing they could do about it.
They had long heard rumors that this stunningly beautiful female rcenary had so sort of connection with Captain Lin.
Xu Haishui didn’t care at all what his subordinates thought. He knew for a fact that Wang Yao and Lin Xinghai really did have a connection. Although he wasn’t sure what kind of relationship it was, he knew it was special.
Therefore, unless it was absolutely safe, he wouldn’t dare let Wang Yao fight.
After accepting Xu Haishui’s arrangent, Wang Yao finally had a real mont to observe her surroundings.
There were many rcenary Corps on the wall, with one stationed almost every 100 ters. Under these circumstances, their forces were quite sufficient.
She also observed that the rcenaries assigned to fight on the wall were all elite mbers with rich combat experience. Faced with the dense swarm of attacking Zombies below, almost all of them could return fire without their expressions changing.

She discovered that the other rcenary Corps, even the Third Level rcenary Corps, had squads from the Military Departnt present. They were there both to supervise the battle and to be ready to relay the Military Departnt’s orders at any ti.

But the Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps was different. Not only had the Military Departnt not sent any command personnel over, but there was also a logistics squad here, ready to follow their orders at a mont’s notice.

Seeing this, Wang Yao’s first reaction was, ’This is a completely suicidal act.’ That was a zombie tide a million strong out there. Forget one cha charging out—even ten cha going out together would probably just be cannon fodder.
But in the next second, her eyes widened. The more she looked at the cha, the more familiar it seed. Wasn’t that Lin Xinghai’s Speed cha?
Just as she was growing anxious and feeling at a loss, she suddenly heard a tsunami of cheers erupt.
She looked around in a daze. Nearly every rcenary Corps on the wall was cheering in unison. At the sa ti, they seed to be shouting sothing.
At first, the sounds were jumbled, and Wang Yao couldn’t make them out clearly. But gradually, as the shouts unified, a deafening roar arose.
"War God! War God! War God!"
RUMBLE RUMBLE!
Wang Yao was still in a daze, but the roar of cannon fire was already sounding continuously. When she looked down, she saw that the artillery had, at so point, blasted a path straight through the once-dense zombie tide.
And Lin Xinghai’s Speed cha followed effortlessly behind the artillery barrage, giving the impression that the million-strong zombie tide was nothing before him.
It was only at this mont that the new mbers of the Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps began to truly understand what it ant to be the First rcenary Corps.
The sight of tens of thousands of people cheering for them instantly boosted their sense of belonging to their rcenary Corps by several levels.
But even in her shock, Wang Yao was still quite worried. She asked Xu Haishui, who wasn’t far away, "Captain Xu, why did Ah Xing charge out in his cha?"
"The only thing that requires the Captain to personally take action is a Mutated Zombie," Xu Haishui said.
"A Mutated Zombie?" Wang Yao’s expression changed slightly.
