Chapter 86: The Long-Awaited Housemate

I opened the takeout app.

My area was in the residential zone, so there weren’t many good restaurants nearby.

Most of the options were things I’d never eaten or even seen before, with flavors that were hit or miss and not always to my taste.

Ordering from farther away would an expensive delivery fees.

Honestly, the high cost of takeout had deterred a few tis before, but who could resist now that I was financially free?

So, I could order takeout with peace of mind.

The delivery riders were quite varied.

For example, those with Flying Brooms could deliver quickly but expensively, while those without Flying Licenses rode bikes, which was slower taking a while to cover the whole academy but cheaper.

From this perspective, getting a Flying License seed advantageous for delivering takeout.

It was fast and profitable.

But surely no one in the academy would get a Flying License just to deliver takeout, right?

No way, no way.

In the end, I chose the cheaper bike delivery.

It was a bit far, so it’d take so ti, but I didn’t mind.

The delivery senior could pick up professional preservation alchemical items from the club, ensuring the food wouldn’t get cold or lose its texture.

According to the estimated ti, it’d arrive just around my usual dinner ti perfectly.

After placing the order, I prepared to fully relax.

I’d morized so many flight regulations for today’s theory exam that my head was filled with question bank content and brainwashing case studies about reckless witches.

For example: As a witch, you’re riding a broom at the designated altitude at a steady speed, but a fast-moving black dot appears to your left.

What should you do next?

The correct answer was to imdiately veer to the right and quickly cast a protective spell on yourself.

There were plenty of misleading wrong answers, like veering to the left or preparing an offensive spell while prioritizing your safety.

Most of these questions were common sense, but I felt many of the tempting options could lead people to make rule-breaking choices.

While I was enjoying this rare mont of leisure, I faintly heard so noise.

I imdiately stopped what I was doing, not making a sound.

I was afraid I’d misheard was that a knock at the door?

Who would knock at this hour?

Could it be my housemate?

At that thought, I sprang up and quickly walked to the door.

But then I realized if it was my housemate, they wouldn’t need to knock, right?

Where was their keycard?

Regardless, I went to open the door, as I’d confird the knocking while approaching.

When I opened the door, two girls stood outside.

From their positions, it was clear the senior in the back had absolute dominance over the timid-looking girl in front.

Just from their deanor, I could guess the one in the back was a senior, and the one in front wearing a sowhat gaudy skirt that didn’t quite suit her was a freshman.

What had she gone through?

The freshman avoided my gaze, too embarrassed to look up even once since I opened the door.

“Hello, Senior. Are you here to drop off a new student?”

I quickly reacted, made a rough guess, and smiled as I spoke directly to the senior.

“Yeah, this is Xinng Li, 62, right? I don’t co here often,” the senior said, holding a keycard likely the one issued to new students.

She checked it and handed it over.

“Xinng Li, District 2, Number 62. This should be it,” I said, taking the keycard and testing it at the door.

The door opened with a beep, confirming the keycard was correct.

This was the place.

Finally, a second resident for this villa.

“This is the right place. Thank you, Senior, for bringing my housemate. Does she have any luggage? I can help carry it,” I said enthusiastically.

After all, this was my future housemate.

She didn’t seem to be on great terms with this senior, so I figured I’d rescue her sooner rather than later.

Making a good impression wouldn’t hurt.

“Luggage? She doesn’t have any. Whatever, I’ve delivered her. Since she has a housemate now, Dongli Yiren see you next ti if fate allows.”

The senior clearly hadn’t prepared any luggage for her.

From her irresponsible tone, that was about what I expected.

Compared to Quan Xiuzhu, though, she was better, at least she brought the freshman to the villa instead of abandoning her on the street.

Quan Xiuzhu had been left to run here on her own, and irresponsibly at that.

This one Dongli Yiren was also a boy before?

But was there really a boy nad Dongli Yiren?

“I said, my na’s not Yiren!”

The freshman growled in a low, subdued voice.

“Oh… sorry, she used to be a boy. I tweaked her na a bit. It sounds close enough, so what’s the rush? Anyway, I hope you two get along well. Don’t… distance her just because she was a boy before,” the senior said, as if just realizing her mistake, quickly explaining to .

But the explanation felt like retaliation.

When her forr male identity was pointed out, Dongli Yiren’s head dropped so low she seed ready to crawl into a crack in the ground.

This senior was clearly no pushover…

“Huh? A b-boy?”

I played along, speaking in a sowhat incredulous tone, but I had no intention of pressing further.

The senior was already preparing to leave, leaving the freshman standing there awkwardly.

Once the senior took out her broom and flew off, the girl renad Dongli Yiren finally spoke.

“Sorry… if you mind, I can leave…”

“Tch, if you leave, where would you go? You’re in Witch Academy now you can’t just walk out. If you don’t stay in the academy-assigned housing, are you going to live on the street corner?”

I countered, dropping my earlier shocked act.

My words made Dongli Yiren pause in her tracks.

“You and that senior probably didn’t get along, right? Co in, she’s gone. Don’t worry, I don’t mind that you were a boy before.”

I pushed the door open and stepped back to make way for her.

I couldn’t let my first housemate just run off like that.

“You really don’t mind? But just now, you…”

“Acting, obviously. Didn’t she want to see you ostracized by your housemate? She seed pretty satisfied with my surprised reaction,” I explained with a smile.

I had a feeling this new housemate was a bit naive or maybe she understood everything but was too shy and needed soone else’s approval.

“Thank you…”

“No need for thanks. Co in. It’s been way too boring living here alone.”

I led her inside and closed the door completely.

From that mont, the villa had its second resident!
