"Good morning, Young Master Naoya!"

The mont Naoya Zenin stepped out of his room, the servant who had knocked on the door imdiately bent at the waist in a perfect ninety-degree bow and, all smiles, offered him a stack of docunts.

"I've already sorted through the notices issued by Headquarters. Please have a look, Young Master!"

He was a middle-aged man.

His voice was tight with nerves, and sweat kept dripping from his forehead onto the wooden floor. Just being alone with Naoya Zenin was clearly enough to put enormous psychological pressure on the man.

Naoya Zenin lifted his eyes and gave him a brief look.

He only vaguely rembered that this guy seed to be one of the Zenin Clan guards responsible for estate security. In the main story, he had been nothing more than a background extra, a completely unimportant NPC.

Uh...

What was his na again?

"Are you from the main family? What's your na?"

Naoya Zenin accepted the docunts with practiced elegance and asked casually as he flipped through them.

"Ah? Ah, yes! Y-yes! My na is Oda. I'm from the main family, but I didn't inherit any technique. Thanks to the Clan Head's great generosity, I was only able to join the Kukuru Unit and work there..."

Oda looked like he was about to cry.

The Zenin Clan lived by the rule that strength was everything. Even mbers of the main family had no standing in this exalted Three Great Families household if they were born without inheriting a technique from their predecessors.

Even Ogi Zenin, the younger brother of the current Clan Head, had a daughter, Maki Zenin, who inherited no technique at all. She still suffered humiliation within the Zenin Clan until she finally left for Tokyo to make her own way.

And yet he had worked at Young Master Naoya's side since childhood. He was not asking to rise to heaven along with the family dog, but this future Clan Head did not even rember his na?

Just as he thought. In the Zenin Clan, failing to inherit a technique was the original sin...

Ignoring Oda's despair, Naoya Zenin focused on the docunts.

They had been issued by Headquarters.

Headquarters was the supre authority that governed and controlled jujutsu sorcerers. It was a power structure jointly recognized by the Three Great Families, one that could bypass any normal process and directly issue orders to all sorcerers.

If a jujutsu sorcerer disobeyed Headquarters or refused its orders, Headquarters could even issue a death sentence on the spot and have other sorcerers join forces to execute them.

The file from Headquarters was titled Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. It announced that a massive cursed spirit rampage had occurred in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Curse User Suguru Geto had orchestrated the incident in order to seize the Special Grade Cursed Spirit Rika Orimoto, but was ultimately defeated head-on by Yuta Okkotsu, a first-year student at Jujutsu High. After that, Special Grade Sorcerer Satoru Gojo handled the cleanup and killed Suguru Geto on the spot.

After reading the report, Naoya Zenin frowned imdiately.

The good news was that he had transmigrated into the Jujutsu Kaisen prequel, one year before the main story began, so he did not need to worry about the Zenin Clan being wiped out the very next second.

The bad news was that being one year early did not help him at all. He was still a villain completely removed from the protagonist group.

Worse still, Suguru Geto's death ant his corpse was destined to be taken over by Kenjaku. That also ant this supervillain would obtain Cursed Spirit Manipulation, which would lead to the start of the Culling Ga and ultimately Ryon Sukuna's resurrection.

This was obviously not a good start.

If only he had transmigrated back when Naoya Zenin was still a child, he could at least have secured Toji Zenin as a card to play. At the very least, he would have had an invincible bodyguard by his side.

Better that than Oda, this useless middle-aged man.

"Nicely organized."

Naoya Zenin tossed out a casual complint.

He was not just being polite either. Oda really had done a careful job. He had summarized an incident that happened all the way in Tokyo so clearly that even Naoya, a transmigrator who already knew the plot, could not find anything to nitpick. No wonder villains always had a few loyal lackeys around them. Being the boss actually felt pretty good.

"Ah?!"

And yet that one simple complint nearly scared Oda out of his wits.

That arrogant Naoya Zenin had actually praised him?

Ever since he was young, this genius sorcerer had either ignored him coldly or mocked him with sarcasm. He had never said a single kind word to him.

After all, he was just a middle-aged servant still doing odd jobs in the Kukuru Unit, while Naoya Zenin had already stepped into the uppermost realm of Special Grade 1 Sorcerers.

Whether in status or in strength, the two of them were beings who could not even be ntioned in the sa breath...

C-could he be digging so huge pit and waiting for to jump into it?

There was no such thing as a free lunch in this world!

Please no, Young Master Naoya.

I don't want to beco so expendable death squad mber!

It was only because the Zenin Clan paid generously that trailing along behind you ca with such a high salary.

If I actually had any real ability, who the hell would want to be your servant?!

"...?"

Naoya Zenin looked at the servant, whose face had gone pale in an instant, and for a mont could not make sense of it.

That complint just now really had made his stomach churn a little, but it had been a perfectly reasonable evaluation, nowhere near enough to break character. So even with Naoya Zenin's lofty, arrogant personality, the system still passed it as acceptable.

Naoya Zenin, on the other hand, was in a fairly good mood.

The important thing was that control had moved one step closer to him.

The transmigrator understood this very clearly. The original owner's proud and overbearing soul was already finished, and now, borrowing his body, he was little by little taking back control of this character's body and fate for himself.

This little Naoya Zenin? Easy work.

But very soon, the young noble heir frowned and broke out in a violent wave of goosebumps.

Because he caught sight of a faint damp mark at the corner of the docunt.

That was... sweat.

Without question, it had co from the hands of this middle-aged man, who was sweating nonstop from nerves.

A surge of disgust rose uncontrollably in Naoya Zenin.

Sweat secreted from soone's palms touching paper felt like contamination, a kind of... unforgivable filth.

That sense of filth made him intensely uncomfortable, so much so that he almost failed to stop himself from cursing on the spot.

But he held back.

Naoya Zenin knew this was Sigma Male acting up.

Still, he had to find a way to overco it.

Sigh. Looks like he really did need to find himself a pretty maid.

A pretty girl's palm sweat had to sll nice, so maybe then his cleanliness obsession would not have anything to complain about.

Then again, considering the original owner was the kind of guy who got killed by a pretty girl's kitchen knife, it was probably better to kill that idea now.

With that in mind, Naoya Zenin headed for the Zenin Clan eting room.

The mont he stepped into the courtyard, the servant Oda imdiately raised a black umbrella over him, shielding him from Kyoto's cold rain.

This gathering clearly was not just a Zenin Clan eting. It had brought together countless prominent figures from Kyoto's jujutsu world.

After all, such a major incident had happened in Tokyo, sothing serious enough to shake the entire jujutsu world. As Kyoto was the keeper of the jujutsu world's old traditions, it could not afford to sit still. It had to co up with a response.

Wrapped in a black wide-sleeved haori, the young nobleman wore a blank expression as his sharp upturned eyes swept across the bustling crowd.

The instant he appeared, the surrounding noise froze.

The Kyoto sorcerers instinctively moved aside to open a path for him, even unconsciously quieting their breathing.

That was...

Fear of the strong.

The transmigrator narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked around at the reverence and fear surrounding him, and for a mont his emotions were hard to settle.

He really had transmigrated into Jujutsu Kaisen.

It might have been one year early, but the story was about to begin for real.

From here on, every step would be like walking on thin ice. Could he really make it safely to the other side?

"Young Master Naoya, the eting is about to begin."

A servant bent respectfully and reminded him.

"Lead the way."

Without revealing a single flaw or crack, Naoya Zenin kept his face cold and walked toward the eting room.
