"Everyone, secure the embryo samples! Evacuate imdiately!"
Dr. Wu, having learned of the Indoraptor's escape from Mills, stood in the corridor of the secret laboratory barking orders.
"You! I need the Velociraptor blood samples!"
He grabbed a nearby researcher, who stared back at him with a dazed, vacant expression.
It was Franklin. How on earth had he managed to blend into the research team?!
"Why are you standing there like an idiot?! Get 50cc of Fentanyl and a venous blood collection kit! They're right over there! Go!"
As Wu spoke, he helpfully pointed toward the necessary supplies.
"Hey! I need to get to the master console in the basent. Keep those Raptor blood samples safe."
Wu turned to a nearby security guard and tossed him a key ring from his pocket.
"Copy that," the guard replied, catching the keys. He watched Wu's hurried retreat for a mont before turning toward Zia.
"I need the Raptor blood samples."
"Sure. Help yourself," Zia replied, appearing perfectly composed, hardly looking like a prisoner at all.
"You'd best behave—"
The guard's voice cut off abruptly. Franklin lunged forward, slamming a high-dose dinosaur tranquilizer dart into the man's neck!
"Franklin! What are you doing?!"
"Saving your life!"
Franklin scrambled across the floor to retrieve the keys the guard had dropped, crawling frantically toward the handcuffed Zia.
Click.
The cuffs fell away. Zia grabbed Franklin's face and gave him a fleeting, fierce word of praise before pulling him toward the exit.
"Don't move."
Two more guards ard with shock prods rushed in. Zia backed up slowly, her shoulders hitting the gate of the cage holding the four Velociraptors.
"Get away from the cage," the guard ordered.
Zia reached back and swiftly yanked the makeshift pin holding the door shut (note to self: install a proper lock next ti). She threw the gate open, releasing the four Raptors!
She and Franklin pressed themselves against the wall behind the swinging gate, using the tal door and the corner of the room to create a cramped, shielded pocket, much like the space Grant's team used to avoid being the primary target in Jurassic Park III.
"Aokrrnng…"
Blue was the first to step out. Her scimitar-shaped toe claws tapped the floor twice, making a sharp, tallic clicking sound.
Charlie followed, appearing dizzy and physically weak, leaning slightly on Echo and Delta as they erged.
"Move!"
Two more guards arrived with rifles, aiming over the shoulders of the n with shock prods.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey!"
Owen appeared out of nowhere, drawing the eyes of every human and dinosaur in the room. He slid into the fray from the side, positioning himself directly between the gunn and the Raptors.
Back at Jurassic World, he was usually on the humans' side, stopping them from hurting the Raptors. This ti, he stood with the pack.
"Aok!"
Blue chirped softly at Owen. It looked like she was speaking to him, but her intent was tactical.
Delta, positioned closest to the window, suddenly leaped into the air. She shattered the glass and disappeared into the night, seemingly abandoning her pack.
Rat-tat-tat-tat!
A hail of gunfire followed Delta's trajectory, but the guards' aim was abysmal; not a single bullet found its mark.
The lead guard re-centered his aim on the remaining Raptors and snarled at Owen:
"Get out of the way! Or we'll shoot you too!"
Owen knew they ant it. Seeing shadows moving outside the window, he realized the plan and moved to stall for ti.
"Easy now. I can get them back in the cages... Blue, how about you go back in?"
"Aok?"
Blue didn't understand the words, but she tilted her head as if to say, Are you kidding ?
"I'm counting to three!" the guard barked.
"Three!"
"Two!"
"On—"
Velociraptor Lesson Four: Raptors never abandon their own. When the dinosaur in front of you disappears, you'd better have a teammate watching your back.
The guard's voice died in his throat as Delta ca screaming back through the window! Using her weight, she pinned the lead guard to the floor, then whipped her body around to sweep the legs out from under the other rifleman with her tail!
Rat-tat-tat-tat!
Rifles discharged wildly as the n fell, rounds tearing into the lab equipnt. In an instant, the dim lights shattered and flickered. Glass instrunts exploded, and a large tank of flammable gas, prid with malodorants, was punctured by a stray bullet, emitting a high-pitched hiss.
The guards in front were distracted by the carnage behind them. Just as they tried to scramble away from Delta, Blue and Echo pounced, and the room was filled with blood-curdling screams.
"Hey... Charlie, you okay?"
"Aok..."
Charlie struggled to stay upright, giving a weak, raspy response.
Owen wanted to say more, but noticing the spreading gas, he imdiately shouted to Franklin and Zia:
"Get out of here! Now!"
He then turned to the four Raptors and mimicked a running motion.
"Blue!"
Blue, currently occupied with a guard's throat, snapped her head up to look at him.
"Run!"
Trusting the Raptors' speed, Owen grabbed a shock prod that had rolled to his feet and dove through the window Delta had smashed.
Blue paused for a heartbeat, then let out a high-pitched howl to call her sisters. Their sensitive noses picked up the chemical stench; they turned and bolted toward the cleaner air, heading in the opposite direction of Owen's retreat.
A second later, a violent explosion ripped through the laboratory. The resulting fireball consud everything in its path.
The three humans and four Raptors were separated once more, escaping the blast by the narrowest of margins.
Dr. Wu, who had only just cleared the lab area, was knocked sideways by the shockwave. He staggered, regained his footing, and looked back at the wreckage. Seeing the toxic gas leaking from the ruins, he froze for a split second before sprinting toward the control room.
…
"Don't move!"
Claire, who had successfully led Maisie to the mansion's main gates, skidded to a halt. She turned to see the pursuer.
It was Eli Mills.
He was flanked by three ard bodyguards. He was trembling with a manic, incandescent rage. His auction was ruined. Everything was gone!
"Maisie, co here."
He seed to retain a shred of logic; to claim the Lockwood fortune, he needed custody of the girl.
But Maisie wanted nothing to do with the man who had betrayed her family. She huddled fearfully behind Claire.
"Oh... so you're going to take care of her, are you? You don't even know what she is."
Mills had spiraled into a full-blown breakdown, ready to vomit up the forbidden truth.
"How do you think Hammond and Lockwood really had their falling out, hm?"
"Lockwood never had a granddaughter. He just wanted his daughter back. He was a complete—"
Suddenly! Three Velociraptors dropped from the second-floor balcony, pinning all three ard guards to the floor simultaneously!
Mills stopped mid-sentence. His jaw dropped, and he turned and bolted into the night.
Blue finished her guard and looked up, her gaze landing on Claire and Maisie. She tilted her head again.
Not Owen? But she slls like Owen.
After escaping the lab, the pack had followed Owen's scent and ended up here.
Echo and Delta rose from their kills, looking to Blue for the next move.
"Aok!"
Up on the second floor, Charlie suddenly let out a piercing alarm shriek! The three Raptors below instantly went into a defensive crouch, scanning the periter.
But they were too late.
The Indoraptor lunged out of the shadows like a black streak, its jaws clamping down on Blue!
Teeth tore into skin; blood began to spray across the floor.
"Go! Run!"
Claire and Maisie seized the opening and sprinted out of the estate gates.
The Indoraptor put its full strength into the strike, dropping to all fours and shaking Blue like a ragdoll. It lifted her off the ground, neutralizing her ability to fight back, intending to finish her in mid-air.
Echo was batted away by the Indoraptor's tail. Delta was swatted to the ground by a massive clawed hand. Blue was alone, caught in a life-or-death struggle.
