Chapter 114 – Fate ?

Days passed.

Kaden and Daela were still in that cave, wanting to make sure no beasts were following them and also to wait for Daela to completely recover.

Kaden only had rare-ranked regenerative potions in his storage, and that wasn’t enough to regenerate Daela’s limbs.

So the only solution was to go back ho and ask their parents about it or just find another way.

Hopefully, they had it in their house.

They had spent these past days talking about each other’s first Fokay experiences.

Well, it was mostly Kaden talking, but even that was already an achievent to make Daela talk.

But the thing that surprised Kaden, or maybe not really, was that Daela didn’t spawn in the Celestial Empire like their brother Dain.

In fact, she didn’t even spawn on land.

She spawned in the middle of the sea, on an island unknown to almost everyone.

An island where everyone there were Sailors.

Sailors of incredible power over water, storm, lightning.

They were extrely powerful, but extrely reclusive.

The Island of Sailors.

That was its na.

And it had taken her almost a year to finally get out of that island.

But it was worse as the area she appeared in belonged to the Kingdom of Elf—a group of long-headed beings who were arrogant and also very reclusive.

Just to say, Daela’s first spawning area was a nightmare. And even till now, she was still around those zones as the Celestial Empire was too far away from the Kingdom of Elf.

The Celestial Empire and even the Church of Sorrow were in the north of Fokay, but the Kingdom of Elf was in the east of Fokay. And with how big Fokay was...

The distances were too much.

And besides, Daela liked it that way. There were no humans to bother her, just so arrogant elves she killed every ti she t one, and beasts.

No need to think more.

After that, it was Kaden’s turn to share his story about his experience in Fokay.

His lips twitched heavily at that ti, wondering if he should tell her that he had t a dragon before being killed by its snort, and even an eerily beautiful Saintess who couldn’t stop crying and finally turned out to be a damn eldritch monster with tentacles as a face.

And not forgetting about him spawning then in a core territory of the Celestial Empire where he t their princess and made her his enemy.

No matter how many tis he thought about it... he was damn sure The Will wanted him dead because ain’t no way a person can be this unlucky.

But all of that, he didn’t say. Instead, he just told her he spawned in the Forest of Asterion before going to Asterion, the capital of the empire.

Simple.

And Daela believed him. After all, for her, her little brother couldn’t lie.

He was truthful.

And then finally, today, the two siblings were ready to depart and go ho.

"Are you ready?" Kaden asked as Daela was on his back.

Daela nodded simply. "Yes."

Kaden then started to walk away.

He could have run, but with Daela on his back, he’d rather not. So instead, he just jogged quickly.

But then again, Kaden wanted to improve his stat manipulation.

And he felt like this situation might not be so bad, so he decided to try sothing along the way.

His intelligence stat might be his most mysterious stat. He felt its effects but never could use it actively like how he used the other stats.

’So why not try now?’ Kaden thought.

He decided to actively try to use his intelligence stat, but nothing worked.

He kept walking, his mind elsewhere. Daela noticed and didn’t say anything—instead, her twin swords were out as they slashed any nearby beasts around them, giving her brother the ti to think whatever he was thinking.

And indeed, Kaden needed that, because after more than an hour of walking, he found a way to use the intelligence stat.

Instead of simply activating it, Kaden thought—or more accurately, willed—the intelligence stat to be used on Soulbrand.

He was specific about his wishes.

And oh...

It worked wonders.

Instantly, it was like the very inner workings of the trait Soulbrand were laid bare in front of him. How the trait worked, how its different abilities could be used more efficiently, and even...how to unlock or rather evolve the abilities into sothing better.

It was incredible.

It wasn’t easy, as his head was being bloated with too much information at once, but the point was...

He was able to know what to do to increase his mastery over Soulbrand, and if he could do it on a trait...

He certainly could with skills and techniques.

He beca so imnsely excited he montarily lost his focus, making him exit that state of minor enlightennt just like how he called it.

’I’ll need more training with my intelligence stat,’ he thought, not feeling discouraged at all.

"Are you done with your thoughts?" Daela asked from behind.

Kaden nodded with a smile.

"Yes, I did. Thanks for taking care of the beasts," he said.

Daela just nodded curtly behind, not responding.

They continued to walk in silence as they were just minutes away from finally arriving at Waverith, before—

"ARGHHHH HELP!!!!"

"HELP US!!!!!"

A girl and a boy’s voice echoed through the thick flora around them, making Kaden instinctively stop.

His lips twitched.

"This...this reminds of sothing," he said, instinctively rembering that snake girl he saved when he was ten years old.

’Is she alive...? I wonder how strong she is now?’ Kaden couldn’t help but wonder for a mont before shaking his head and walking toward the voices.

"Are you gonna help them? Why? Let them die." Daela said coldly from behind.

Kaden just shrugged.

"I’m just curious about who they are. And the voices sounded young. As for saving? I’ll save them if I deem them worthy of saving," he said as he arrived at the place.

There, facing two small pitiful green goblins, were two young people.

A girl, no older than 8, with black hair and golden eyes, and a young man, seemingly fifteen years old with red hair and matching red eyes.

The boy was on the ground, his hands holding tight to his head in deep fear. But the little girl stood in front of him, holding a wooden branch while shaking like a leaf caught in the wind.

It was a comical sight.

But Kaden didn’t register all that as he had noticed these two.

It was the sa ones he had observed inside Waverith while walking toward the gate.

The ones he wanted to talk to but chose not to.

And as he looked at them now, right in his way...

Kaden couldn’t help but wonder if it was fate or simply coincidence.

Truthfully...

...I wonder too?
