Chapter 115 – We Are Safe

Kaden couldn’t help but wonder if it was really a coincidence.

As soone who was quite interested in faith and religion back on Earth, he had heard about the concept of destiny and fate...

The saying that everything that happened to you was fated to happen, and nothing you could do could change that outco.

aning, if you were fated to die at a specific day and hour... then you will without any doubt, and that no matter what you do to prevent it.

’Pretty sad to be honest if that was the case.’ Kaden thought inwardly.

He didn’t quite believe in fate, and even if it existed...

’In this supernatural world, if there are beings able to control fate, then it’s not impossible to escape it and change it in your own way.’ He added at last as he looked at the trembling girl trying to intimidate the goblins with her shaking wooden branch.

He turned his gaze toward the boy on the ground, who didn’t even try to defend himself and instead kept clenching his head with both hands so tightly it looked like he wanted to burst it.

Under his breath, he was muttering so inaudible words again and again and again.

But with Kaden’s level of perception, he heard him very clearly and oh...

"D-Don’t hurt ... please don’t hurt ... I will be a good child... I will not look at you in the eyes anymore... please... please... don’t beat ..."

The red-haired boy couldn’t stop muttering those words in a cycle.

Seeing him, Kaden could already guess sothing.

’A bullied kid.’ He concluded.

Pretty obvious for him to know, as he was the sa as him and recognized that way of acting in the face of danger.

They always cower and enter a state of begging. Because that was how they were trained to act.

To beg for forgiveness, to beg for rcy. Just... to beg.

And here he was, begging against beasts that can’t even understand him, while a little girl in torn clothes, barely eight, stood in front of him trying to protect him.

"How pathetic." Daela said as she looked at the red-haired boy with absolute scorn. She was looking at him as if he was filth incarnate.

Kaden smiled wryly at her words.

He couldn’t disagree with her, but he couldn’t completely agree either—not when he rembered his past life.

But that didn’t an he agreed with that kind of attitude.

"Save the young girl and leave the boy for dead." Daela said without a single ounce of pity.

That’s Warborn right there.

They loathe anything weak and cowardly.

Kaden shook his head softly as he hid behind a thick tree, lowering his presence.

"Well sister, aren’t you too harsh?"

"Let’s observe. The little girl is not able to do anything to these goblins. So she will either be captured or hurt by them."

"So I wonder... what will the boy do? Will he continue to cower or gather his courage to save the one who tried to protect him even while trembling?"

"Let’s just see." Kaden said with a small smile.

"What if he doesn’t get up?" Daela asked.

Kaden then smiled coldly.

"Then we save the girl and leave him to die."

After all, if he can’t even at least try to help the girl who protected him... then what is he worth?

Better leave him to die so that he can rest in peace.

Daela didn’t respond to his words and instead turned to look at the pitiful scene.

...

"Zaki! Zaki! Get up!" The little girl, Eimi, said as she trembled in front of the two goblins.

She tried to call out to Zaki, the red-haired boy still frozen in place, but nothing.

She gritted her teeth and held the wooden branch tighter.

"Don’t approach us! I’ll kill you if you do!" she shouted, trying to scare the goblins, but what a useless thing to do.

The goblins might not have intelligence, but they had instincts—and right now those instincts were screaming that these two were easy prey.

And so they didn’t run. Instead, they approached step by step, taking their ti.

Their ugly and dirty green faces grinned wide as they stuck out their tongues like mindless beasts.

They weren’t looking at Eimi like sothing to eat—but as sothing to breed.

And Eimi could guess that by seeing how their erect dicks were sticking out from their skirts made of leaves.

It was so disgusting that Eimi couldn’t help but take a step back in fright and disgust.

And just at that mont, the goblins lost patience and imdiately lunged toward her.

"AHHHHH!!!" Eimi instinctively scread.

But it was useless. In not even five seconds, she was captured by them.

"No! No! No! NOOOO!" she scread as she struggled to free herself, the goblins tearing apart her clothes.

Pure and unfiltered fright appeared on her face. Her heart was beating loudly as she wondered what would happen to her if she was raped.

Tears started to fall from her beautiful golden eyes as she looked at Zaki, then—

"ZAKI! RUNNNN!!" she shouted with all her might, her tears still falling.

Zaki’s body shook as her voice reached him. He slowly and fearfully raised his head only to see a dreadful sight.

Eimi, held by two goblins who were licking every part of her body with lecherous eyes while laughing maniacally and still tearing apart her remaining clothes.

BADUM—

Zaki’s heart skipped a beat.

"W-What...?" he struggled to even think as breathing beca hard for him. He started to cough, his head began to spin.

Eimi’s heart dropped even further seeing his state.

"ZAKI RUN please! I’ll be fine! They won’t kill ! RUN and co back save with the guards!" she shouted again and again.

But these words didn’t even register in Zaki’s mind.

’Again...?’

’Will I lose soone I care for again?’

Zaki’s thoughts spiraled. He rembered the mont of his mother’s death inside that luxurious but nightmarish house. He rembered the mocking eyes of his half-siblings and the disdain with which his father looked at him.

He rembered asking them why... why him... why his mother... what did they do wrong?

They were just living their life normally... why involve them in that struggle for power and wealth... just why?

The answer he was given was one that still haunted him to this day.

"B-Because... I am weak?" Zaki muttered as he slowly raised his head, his eyes blank.

His mind had shut down because of fear.

"Weak? Weak...? Weak..." he muttered again and again, each word louder than the last—until, without realizing, he took a step toward the goblins.

Eimi’s eyes widened in shock.

"DON’T CO ZAKI!! PLEASE!" she shouted, wanting her only friend—the one who always brought her food to eat—to escape alive.

But Zaki didn’t hear her. In fact, he wasn’t hearing anything, nor even knew what he was doing.

And maybe that’s why he dared to go toward the goblins, ready to save the only person he cared about and the only one who cared for him.

He took another step forward and...

"That’s enough." A voice echoed through the space, halting the goblins in their actions as they snapped their heads toward one direction.

There stood Kaden, with Daela on his back, looking at them.

Seeing two pairs of red, murderous eyes fixed on them, the goblins trembled in fear and imdiately tried to escape.

Eimi fell to the ground as they ran in terror.

Kaden didn’t even look at them—and he didn’t need to, as Reditha appeared and killed the two goblins with one flawless strike.

He took a step forward, trying to approach the girl but stopped.

Eimi was already on her feet as she ran toward Zaki with haste.

"Zaki! Zaki! Are you okay?" she asked with worry in her eyes as she looked at the blank eyes of Zaki who, still now, was trying to step forward in order to save her—not knowing the danger had already passed.

Eimi embraced him tightly and only then did he stop.

"E-Eimi...?" Zaki muttered before—

Thud.

He fell to the ground, bringing Eimi down with him.

But she didn’t care. She still embraced him, as if giving him her warmth.

"We are safe... we are safe..." she muttered again and again into his ears.

Kaden and Daela looked at the scene silently.

Kaden then smiled.

"Well... he’s not a lost cause, is he?"
