RAMON’S POV

It was always a pleasure to see Daisy. She was a breath of fresh air that knew the best way to get on my nerves, and did it religiously.

"The boys need to keep on training. Let’s go." I grabbed her hand, and led her away.

She waved them goodbye, promising to send them so gifts.

As we walked to my quarters, we talked about everything.

"Your pack gets bigger every ti I co here. You must be doing sothing good. Tell your secret?" She asked.

I laughed, because I knew she was just teasing . She would always say if I focused more on buildings and less on making my pack look like a forest, I would make more people interested in visiting.

But I didn’t want more people visiting. From visiting, plots would arise. I had to focus all my attention on Ferins, and not divide it by fighting other fractions.

The only ti I wanted visits was for the festival of alphas. Mostly because I had an agenda that I had to see to the end.

"Good morning alpha Ramon. Good morning alpha Daisy," so of my maids greeted as we passed by them.

They all loved her in this pack. What was there not to love? She genuinely was one of my favourite people, and I couldn’t admit to liking that many people.

We entered the quarters, and went straight to the breakfast room.

"Tell you’re going to allow my chefs to treat you for breakfast," I said, as we took our seats.

"I didn’t eat in my pack before journeying here, for this specific reason. I’ve missed your chefs," she said, and smiled.

"I’m sure they’ve missed you too. They’re always talking about the alpha who brings them treats. Not to ntion, you’re one of the very few alpha’s who is a woman."

"Don’t remind about the shit I have to go through for being born with a vagina, Ramon."

"Alright." I threw my hands in the air in surrender, as we laughed.

The door opened, and the chefs and so maids began to troop in with food in their hands.

I was mostly proud of the proactiveness of the pack. Over ti as alpha, it was the one thing I had tried to get them to hone. They needed to know what to do without telling them what to do. Thankfully, they had gotten with the program.

"I should have taken a shower first," I said, as I removed the shirt I had hung on my shoulder, and placed it on the empty chair beside .

"Why? I like the musk." She threw a wink.

I shook my head, as she giggled.

"What’s for breakfast?" She asked, turning to the servants.

"So eggs, at, rice, crab sauce—" the list was endless.

"Man, I love this pack!" Daisy clapped when they were done listing out everything for breakfast.

"You make think you only co to my pack to eat."

"Why else would I be here?" She said, already stuffing her mouth with so chicken legs before the servants even finished serving.

"Noted. I’ll make sure to tell my boys to keep you out the next ti you co."

"If they want their throats slit with a single claw, fine by ." She shrugged.

That tickled , and I laughed. I loved a woman with strength. A woman who knew her worth, and how to navigate her way in the world.

I was stuffed to my chest when we finished breakfast. I waited until we were alone after the servants had cleared out the table, before I turned to Daisy with a serious expression on my face.

"Do you want to talk more in private?" I questioned.

She stared at with a satisfied smile on her face. "You grow more handso by the years. Tell your secret?"

"Hate," I said through my teeth.

Her smile broadened. "I’ve only known you to hate one man. And if I may say, he is deserving of that hatred. So that’s definitely not the secret."

"I gave you my answer. You can choose to believe it or not."

"Ramon. I heard what you’re up to. You really want to host the festival of alphas, don’t you?"

"And is that such a bad ambition?" I asked, wondering where she was going with this.

It was highly unlike Daisy to beat around the bush. She was usually straightforward when it ca to speaking her mind. If she was hesitating, then she was really in big trouble.

"Not at all. I’m just shocked, because you’ve never been the type to want other wolves in your pack. After what it was almost reduced to, you grew up trying to protect it with your life. I know because we’ve been friends forever."

"And as friends you should know if I want sothing it’s because it’s important."

"Oh I know. That’s why I didn’t hesitate to vote for you when the proposition ca."

"Thanks for the vote, but now it’s down to a tie."

"I heard. I can tell you’re pretty confident you’ll get it. Why?"

"He owes a debt. He has to pay. This is my paynt."

"Ah! Paynts, debts, such wonderful concepts. I’m glad we agree everyone has to pay their debts."

"Tell , why are you really here, Daisy?" The longer she talked in code, the more my worry grew.

I could see it in her eyes. I’ve known her long enough to know when there was trouble looming. She knew very well to count on . Why was she then hesitating?

"I heard you have the princess of Silverpaw in captivity," she finally spilled, and I sat up.

"Worlds travel fast, I see."

"Gossip, even faster. Before I continue, I’ll like to say, good job. You did the impossible. No one, not even would have ever thought you’d go into silverpaw, and co out with the girl. Not with the rumours of how well she’s protected."

"Thank you, but what does that have to do with your worries?"

She smiled. "I need the girl. She’s the reason I’m here."

My worry turned to an angry frown. "What do you an you need the girl? What could you possibly need her for?" I asked, trying and failing to make sense of her request.

"She has sothing I need. A power that would co in handy," she explained.

"What powers? What do you even know about the girl?"

"She’s Ferins daughter. His last child after seven boys. She looks the most like his deceased mate, and for that reason, he cherishes her more than anything. He has spent her entire life shielding her from the world. I imagine he’s in pain right now. But that’s not what you want to hear, so I’ll feed your curiosity."

"Please do."

She played with her hand for a few seconds, as her eyes adorned a faraway expression..I could see the pain in her eyes. It was so deep and upsetting.

I hated to see her this sad, but Sonia was off limits. Except with good reason.

"Tyler is dying," she said in a barely audible voice, and my heart jumped.
