RAMON’S POV

I watched her in distress, because it was too astonishing to wrap my head around. "What do you an Tyler is dying? You told he was fine, and the relationship is going great."

"I thought he was okay, Ramon. I thought he was. He kept the pain away, because he wants to be strong for . I pretended not to notice, but I could perceive it, Ramon. When it wasn’t going away, I just had to confront him."

"Is it the curse?" I asked the one question I had been trying my hardest not to ask.

Because it was unnatural for a woman to be an alpha, at least to a small minded sect of wolves, they insisted Daisy was cursed.

Every man she had even made a mate, died on her. She thought about giving up on love, but Tyler ca along. She didn’t need to choose him, because he was her fated mate.

She never believed in the curse, and thought it was absolute nonsense. So when she found Tyler, she was happy to be proved right. They had been together for a long ti. Five years of bliss, so I just couldn’t think of him leaving her again.

"I told you I don’t believe in that nonsense!"

She rose to her feet. "Curse? What curse? I’ve saved my pack countless tis. Led them to victory nurous tis. You can’t count the top five packs and not ntion my pack. So pray tell what curse is this? I’m a woman so I can’t lead, and because I was called to, a curse is placed on ? That’s nonsense!"

"But the coincidence, Daisy!" I tried to reason with her.

"So what happened to you? Why didn’t you die the long year we were lovers?" she turned to , a flash of hurt in her eyes.

"Because it was temporary? It didn’t last long. Or maybe I’m just above so foolish curse."

She laughed bitterly. "No, it’s because there is no curse. Just a cruel trick to make it look like there’s sothing wrong with . I’ve never believed it. Best believe I won’t be believing it now!" she slamd a fist on the table furiously.

I allowed her a few seconds to calm herself. I could feel her heart thumping rapidly. She was pissed, and rightly so. I had never seen Daisy more in love. Tyler had brought out the best in her. Her pack adored him as her mate. Everything was going alright. They even tried for a child and got lucky once. Unfortunately, she miscarried. But that had never deterred her.

That was Daisy for you. She didn’t believe anything, except the moon goddess was above her. In a lot of ways, she was just like .

"Why do you need the girl’s help?"

Her eyes softened, as she returned to her seat. "She’s a healer," she said in a sober voice.

My face grew tight as I stared at her. "How do you know about that?" I asked.

I had heard the sa thing. It was just a rumour that had never been actually confird. I personally didn’t believe it, and that was the reason I asked her to heal a barren land.

If she was as great as the whispers say, she should be able to do an impossible job. Or at least find out it was an impossible job when she attempts to.

"I knew her mother. She was quiet, and beautiful. Had the most distinct eyes in the whole universe. The entire opposite of whatever Ferins is. There was no illness she couldn’t cure, or curse she couldn’t lift. Unfortunately, she died an early death. I’ve heard her daughter is her exact replica, and can heal. I want to exhaust every ans possible in saving Tyler. If he dies, only then will I dive into the possibility of a curse. And if there’s a curse, I’ll have to ask the moon goddess about her bias," she said in a fierce tone.

It was quite a lot to take in. She obviously really believed there was sothing Sonia could do. I believed she was better off seeking other healers. Sonia didn’t look like she could heal anything.

"You don’t believe ," she said as if reading my thoughts.

"It’s not you I don’t believe. It’s the girls ability to heal. I don’t see it, unfortunately. Maybe it’s my bias against her father speaking, but I honestly can’t see it."

"Let worry about that. Just give the girl for at least a day. If you don’t trust enough to handle her, send soone, or co with yourself. But considering your hatred for her father, I’m certain you don’t even care enough about her to take all those necessary precautions."

"Now that’s a bit tricky," I said, ready to tell her the truth I had been withholding from her.

"What are you talking about?" She shifted out of her seat, and stared at with eyes slanted from curiosity.

"Sonia. Alpha Ferins daughter is my fated mate."

Her mouth hung open as her eyes widened. "No way!"

"I almost reacted the sa. Can you believe the sick joke the moon goddess played? I wanted to keep her as captive, but reject her as my mate. I was heated when I realised the impossibility of that."

"I understand how you feel, and that I’m supposed to be on your side. But I still want her, Ramon."

"But she—"

"You owe ."

I grew instantly weak at that. She was right, I did owe her. If this is what she wanted as paynt, I would be selfish not to give it to her.

"For just a day, you say?" I asked.

She smiled, because she knew she had touched my soft spot and I was starting to give in. "For just a day."

"Stay here tonight then. You’ll et her tonight. Tomorrow, you will take her with you."

She jumped to her feet, and ran to .

Placing her lips on mine, she kissed .

Anyone would think it was weird she did that, but those who knew the cultures of Daisy, knew it was a norm to kiss people as a form of greeting or a show of appreciation or acknowledgent. There was nothing to it.

But when the door suddenly opened, and Lorena stepped in, I knew she was about to make a big deal out of it.

Daisy pulled away and turned around. "I was wondering what ti you’d show up. I guess you’re here now."

I could tell she wanted nothing more than to pounce on Daisy. But she knew her limit. And that if it cos down to it, I would take Daisy’s side. Maybe even before she squashed her like a fly.

"Alpha Daisy." She bowed.

Daisy smiled. "Where’s Ivy? I want her to prepare my room."

"That would be a problem. Ivy is occupied," Lorena said, taking the passive aggressive route.

Daisy scoffed, and gave her a once over. "I don’t care what she’s occupied with. I want her to prepare my room. I told you Ramon, she’s the best servant you have here."

"If that’s what you want, I’ll have to give it to you. Lorena, go tell Ivy that alpha Daisy wants her to prepare a room for her."

If looks could kill, the glare she sent my way would have dead. Growling so inaudible words, she turned around and marched out.

"That’s what you get for sleeping with trash, and making it important."

"Daisy?" I called in a warning tone.

"You know I’m telling the truth." She shrugged.

And yes, I did know she was telling the truth. Truth which I was planning to make a lie, soon.
