"What exactly are you trying to do, Danzo?!"
Homura Mitokado was at Hiruzen's bedside.
That ant Koharu Utatane was the one outside.
The mont she learned that Danzo was gathering the villagers, she rushed over at once to confront him.
"Don't you think Konoha has beco too weak?"
"Driven into heavy losses by a single man… or even by a single tailed beast."
Danzo spoke with complete seriousness.
"And what does that have to do with what you're doing right now?"
Koharu's expression remained calm.
Like Homura, she had already sensed that sothing was wrong with Danzo.

"Hiruzen is no longer fit to remain Hokage."

She could hardly believe that the Danzo she had known for so many years—the man who always claid to sacrifice everything for Konoha—would do sothing like this.

"So don't stand in my way."
Danzo's voice was icy.
Then he walked straight toward the square where the villagers had gathered.
The ordinary civilians had been assembled by the Konoha Police Force.
Root simply did not have enough manpower.
And since the police handled public matters, the villagers naturally trusted their instructions.
"I won't allow this!"
"Stop right there, Danzo!"
Koharu's patience snapped.
She moved to stop him personally.
"It's too late."
"Did you really think I would do sothing like this without preparing in advance?"
"If you're willing to start a battle in front of the villagers and ignore the casualties, then by all ans… co."
Bang!
The Danzo before her exploded into smoke.
It had only been a shadow clone.
Seeing the clone vanish, Koharu's expression darkened in fury.
She imdiately summoned reinforcents and rushed toward the crowd.

Uzumaki Shuji arrived with Naruto.
They stood near the back of the crowd.
Completely unaware of what was about to happen, Naruto happily accepted a twin popsicle Uzumaki Shuji had bought. The two brothers each took one and casually licked them while watching the show.
Kakashi also sensed that sothing was wrong.
But without direct orders from the Hokage, he dared not leave.
The jinchūriki's safety was too important.
And around them, mbers of the police force continued to appear.
Konoha's instinctive wariness toward the Uchiha ran deep.
"What's happening?"
Hiruzen, covered in bandages and unable to move, could only remain in bed.

Danzo's voice thundered through the square.
The prepared microphone carried his words to every corner.
"He lusted after power."
"Fearing that the Senju clan would threaten his authority, he used war to gradually send their mbers to their deaths."
"Then ca the Uchiha clan."
"He believed the Police Force wielded too much influence, so he began suppressing them."
"Recently, he even manipulated Uchiha Itachi—a traitor—to collude with outside enemies and exterminate the entire Uchiha clan!"
"…"
Danzo recited Hiruzen's cris one by one.
Every accusation was laid out clearly for all to hear.
"Bastard!"
"How dare he?!"
"Those were his own actions!"
Hiruzen's bandages began to seep with fresh blood.
He was clenching his teeth so hard they nearly shattered.
Watching through the Telescope Technique, he had felt dread the mont Danzo appeared.
But he had never expected this.
Danzo intended to drag him down together.
"We're too late!"
Homura stared at the figure standing atop the platform in disbelief.
The gathered villagers had already erupted into shocked whispers.
The most enraged were the Uchiha police officers maintaining order at the scene.
So this was the truth.
The Hokage had secretly done so many things to suppress the Uchiha.
"I can no longer tolerate these actions!"
"And yesterday, the Hokage was defeated by a single enemy."
"Hiruzen Sarutobi is no longer worthy of the title of Hokage!"
"Therefore, I propose that Hiruzen Sarutobi be removed from office…"
"…and that I, Shimura Danzo, beco the Fifth Hokage!"
"I will treat everyone fairly."
"I will never persecute the people of my own village."
"…"
Danzo smoothly transitioned into campaigning for votes.
Even Uzumaki Shuji nearly laughed at the shaless performance.
Persecuting his own people was Danzo's greatest talent.
The reason Uzumaki Shuji had ordered him to do this was simple.
Danzo no longer had much value left.
Uzumaki Shuji had already taken most of Root's resources.
Danzo's subordinates were not especially useful, and the strongest among them had already been eliminated.
Since that was the case—
Danzo might as well burn away the last of his remaining usefulness.
