I knew..... she ca to this academy with the intention of winning back.
I actually enjoyed it when I saw her avoiding as if she were playing a strategic ga of push and pull.
What's more, she even wore the sa old hair tie that my mother picked for her and asked to give her so that ans... she was still loving , right?
It made chuckle silently at her cute act, and I waited patiently for her to make the first move, to speak with . But it's been three long days, and she hasn't approached .
A sense of unease settled in my chest, prompting to confront her.
I wanted to nd our fractured relationship.
'W-Why is she acting so differently now?'
That's what I thought when I saw the furious expression on her face. I had seen her angry before, but this was different, more intense as if she were truly seething with rage.
Yes, it's true that she was the one who always nded our relationship whenever we fought over trivial things, but...
"It's not like I didn't want to apologize. Rather, before I could even acknowledge my mistake, you would co and say sorry..." I folded my arms in frustration, my voice tinged with defensiveness, "You were just faster, that's all."
"ggrrrr," Lia gritted her teeth, her eyes blazing with fury, "OH!! I see... So I was just faster than you."
"Yes," I nodded with a serious face, trying to maintain my composure. If she had been slower, I would have been the one to apologize.
It was a matter of timing, nothing more!! |empyr.
"Then what about now?" She asked, catching off guard. Her question pierced through my defences, I replied sternly, "I was--" Before I could finish, she interjected, "I was about to do it, isn't that right?"
"...Yes," I nodded again, feeling cornered.
Her mocking expression irked even more.
I wondered where she had gotten this attitude. She wasn't like this before... or had she been hiding it all along? I pondered before saying sternly, "Let tell you this. When you were impaled, it was MY slave who helped you... So theoretically, I helped you"
Yes, if I thought logically, it was my slave who assisted her, so indirectly, I was the one who supported her even in that dire situation.
Then I added, "Even more You never allowed to kiss, Why is that?" It is sothing that I always had in my mind.
She must not have expected to confront her with this logic.
"Kai, are you fucking serious? I told you we need to wait before marriage" She asked, making frown.
Her tone and respect were diminishing with every passing mont, and it was starting to get under my skin.
"Is that so?" I mocked her, "Co on, don't act like an idiot, If you love soone, you need to reciprocate the feelings.... and it's just a kiss but never did that.... you are thinking too much!! It's not like we fuck each other"
Yes, that's what annoyed more, she always avoided getting into that topic. It's just a kiss and yet she was overreacting.
"!!!!" Lia could only grit her teeth in anger as if she wanted to say sothing but she couldn't.
I folded my arms thinking I won over the argunt and said, "Let's make it clear. If not for my intervention, Aqualina was dead set on killing you! You should be grateful for that!" I said with a serious face, holding out the ring as if it were a peace offering,
"Here, this is my apology gift."
Again, Instead of being happy and grateful..... she wore a disgusted expression.
'Why is she disgusted? Didn't I apologize now?' I scread inwardly, glancing at the ring, which cost around 10,000ˀ.
It wasn't an easy amount; I had begged my father to buy this... but this girl.
"You know what... I should have gifted this 10,000ˀ to Aqualina. She would have been over the moon to have this gift," I said, trying to make her jealous, but again, it didn't work as it always did.
"Then give that shit to her..." She spat, her disgust only growing.
"....." I clenched my teeth, frustration boiling within . I knew she was angry about that day, but she shouldn't have taken it this far.
As I was about to lash out, I saw her teary eyes, and I was frozen. My heart wrenched in pain.
"L-Lia, let's calm down--" I was about to say, trying to calm her, but,
"I am calm, Kai... No, Mr. Kai," she spoke as if I were a stranger to her now.
My heart tore in pain, "L-Lia, please! Let's talk about this! We can be together forever, just like you always wished."
"...I am sorry, Mr. Kai, but we cannot be together... not anymore!" Lia said with tears streaming down her face, standing up.
An unknown fear crept into my heart as if I were losing sothing vital.... I said, desperately, "I-I will ask Aqualina, and I am sure she will let us marry first!"
However, Lia didn't listen and just said, "No need. Our relationship ends here... You can go on your path, and I will choose mine!" She said and left.
"W-Wait!! Lia!!!" I shouted after her, but she didn't even turn around and disappeared from sight.
Others in the cafeteria looked at weirdly, their whispers filling the air. Feeling their stares, I stood up and left the place, my heart heavy with despair.
Just as I was about to follow Lia,
"Don't, Kai."
Suddenly, Aqualina called out to , her voice firm and unyielding.
"P-Princess..." I stamred, caught off guard.
"She needs her so space," Aqualina said with a serious face, her eyes conveying understanding.
"...." I knew that... I sighed, looking at the princess, grateful for her presence. Not only her but also my dear sister and my best friend, who were looking at worriedly.
My lips trembled, but I didn't want to show my weak side to the princess, so I bit my lips and asked, "W-Why are you guys here?"
My sister, Selene, just ca to my side and hugged , whispering, "It's okay, big brother."
'Drip, Drip'
Tears started to pour out from my eyes as my friend and Aqualina patted my back, offering silent comfort.
"You should have waited a little, Kai," Aqualina suddenly said, breaking the silence.
"Princess?" I frowned, not understanding.
"You forced everything, and... your ego is high," Aqualina said with a straight face, her words cutting through .
"!!" I flinched, 'Ego?' I wondered what she was talking about.
"When it cos to the matter of love, you shouldn't have that much ego," Aqualina said as if she were a master of it and continued, "Anyhow, you cannot change the past. Just wait for her to settle down."
"Yes, then you should start anew," Leon added with a smile, trying to lift my spirits.
Both Aqualina and Selene stared at Leon before shaking their heads in unison.
"It's broken beyond repair."
"Yeah"
Both of them mumbled as they looked in the direction where Lia had walked out.

Aurelia Scarlet's POV
anwhile, with teary and trembling eyes, I decided to return to my dorm. I wasn't in the mood to continue attending lectures.
I needed a deep and long rest. M-My chest feels heavy as if it was turning into an unbreakable stone...
Just as I was walking to my door, I noticed a person's broad shoulders...
'Those shoulders...' I thought as I hurriedly walked toward them.
I-I knew those shoulders. They were the ones who had comforted when I was in turmoil, and they appeared yet again when I was going through this.
"Aether!" I said, hugging Aether's back, my tears soaking into his shirt.
