Chapter 1338: Chapter 1338: Vine

“Wait!”

Upon seeing the Jade Pendant, one of the stewards hastily raised his arm, halting the guards.

Then, with hands clasped in a fist and a bow, he bent his body at a ninety-degree angle, “Subordinate didn’t realize it was General Wilson! Please forgive this offense, General!”

His tone was completely different from before.

Respectful, with a trace of fear.

Julius Reed did not speak, and it would also be impossible for him to do so.

Gabriel Abernathy wasn’t present, and without him, there was no way he could imitate the big-bearded Delaney’s voice.

He was a civilized person, whereas the uncouth Delaney was beyond learning.

If he couldn’t learn it, he might as well not speak at all.

After putting away the Jade Pendant, Julius Reed headed straight towards Swimming City with Lillian Tompson.

“General Wilson, when you went out, you were accompanied by more than a dozen brothers…what is this?” The steward at the doorway was sowhat puzzled.

Delaney had left with more than a dozen capable n, now why was there only one attendant left?

And it seed that the body size of this attendant…

Whoosh!

Julius Reed drew his steel knife and decapitated the steward.

The poor steward hadn’t even realized what was happening before he lost his life to a casual inquiry.

Sotis, a steel knife truly is the best response.

Indeed.

The guards quickly turned away, not daring to look at the two of them.

Swimming City was vast.

The wide roads were sparsely populated.

Julius Reed chose not to drive, the car was simply left at the entrance.

Because even if they drove, they wouldn’t be able to find their way, it was better to observe while walking.

Along the way, many people from the Ninth Route patrolled, but none of them beca suspicious upon seeing the two.

“Saint Lord, if we keep wandering around, I’m afraid we’ll get lost,” Lillian Tompson whispered.

The view ahead was empty streets and scattered buildings.

Looking further away, there were farmlands.

As for what was planted in the farmlands…

Julius Reed squinted his eyes.

“Let’s go, take a look.”

He seed to have discovered sothing and quickly moved towards the farm’s location.

Lillian Tompson didn’t dare to ask more and cautiously followed behind him.

This was the Ninth Route’s main base; trouble here would not be easy to resolve.

She didn’t fear trouble, but she had no wish to attract it either.

Fights were exhausting.

How much more relaxing it was to enjoy the scenery.

The farm was a kiloter away from the street and was planted with lush green plants.

At a glance, they looked like ordinary crops.

But the scent perating the air was very familiar.

Julius Reed hastened his steps while considering the possibilities.

He covered the kiloter in two minutes and arrived at the periphery of the farm.

The reality differed from the initial appearance.

Around the periphery of the farm was a fine wire sh that completely enclosed it.

And at every five hundred ters, there was a small house.

“What’s this for?”

Seeing Julius Reed standing in front of the fence, several guards imdiately rushed out from the small house.

These people were unard, not carrying any weapons.

“Which squad are you from?” one of them shouted.

Anyone in Swimming City was almost invariably from the Ninth Route.

Besides, the man was wearing Ninth Route clothing; he probably was a new greenhorn.

A few rebukes, and that should be the end of it.

Julius Reed did not speak but flashed the Token at his waist and pointed towards the farm.

“Yo! General Wilson!”

Upon seeing the Token, several Ninth Route minions imdiately showed utmost respect.

“General Wilson, do you wish to enter?” the leading minion asked.

Julius Reed nodded.

The minions looked at each other, all feeling quite puzzled.

Normally, Delaney would have started cursing by now.

Why was he so cultured and silent today?

“General Wilson’s throat is uncomfortable, and he’s unable to speak,” Lillian Tompson ca over, using a man’s voice to explain.

She had lived for over a hundred years, and changing her voice tone was still within her ans.

“Turns out General Wilson is having throat discomfort, but you, sir, are not normally fond of wearing this type of hat…” The lackey didn’t go to open the door; instead, he asked tentatively.

Julius Reed beckoned him with a curl of a finger.

“What are your orders, General?” The questioner leaned in, eyes darting around.

From his angle, he could clearly see Julius Reed’s face, while the others could only see a rear silhouette.

Julius Reed slowly lifted the gauze from the hat, revealing the face underneath.

Upon seeing the true face, the thug didn’t even have the chance to yell out!

Phut!

The long knife had already cleaved down.

The more you know, the quicker you die.

That’s the truth.

“Quick! Open the gates for General Wilson!” The survivor shuddered, head drenched in cold sweat.

One of them hastily took out a remote control and lightly pressed it against the wire sh fence.

Click!

A crack slowly appeared.

The iron wire netting, originally connected, surprisingly split into two parts, making way for a path.

Julius Reed bent over, wiped the bloodstain on the corpse, and sheathed his knife.

Afterward.

He strode towards the farmland.

As he observed closely, his hands uncontrollably clenched together.

This thing, it closely resembled a plant!

Lillian Tompson also halted, her eyes turning to Julius Reed.

Her aning was clear.

Both had noticed sothing unusual!

Julius Reed stretched out his hand, lightly caressing the vines twirling around the bamboo poles, then suddenly yanked it!

Snap!

A green vine was torn off, its break seeping white liquid.

Julius Reed touched it with his fingers.

Then sniffed it at his nose.

Finally, he tasted it lightly.

Lillian Tompson did the sa.

After tasting, her face bore an indescribable shock.

“As expected.” Julius Reed tossed half of the vine on the ground and continued to walk further in.

Wherever his gaze landed, it was covered with such green vines.

Entwined around the bamboo, continuously growing.

Thump!

Julius Reed’s feet tapped lightly, and he sprang up, landing on a bamboo.

Looking over, the expanse of green was alarmingly vast.

Whoosh!

He landed back on the path, murmuring, “I think I might know what Isabella Warm ca here for.”

“I’ve guessed it too.” Upon hearing this na, Lillian Tompson involuntarily clenched her fists.

“Holy Master, you still don’t believe that she has betrayed you!”

Anger and resentnt laced Lillian Tompson’s tone.

“Before I see the evidence, I won’t easily suspect anyone.” Julius Reed gazed at the verdant vines before him, smiling, “Let’s search for the answer shortly, to see if this is indeed Isabella Warm’s handiwork. Though I have a feeling, she’s likely the culprit.”

“No one but her,” Lillian Tompson said coldly.

This vine was called the Sky-reaching Vine.

A rare type of green vine.

Although rare, wasn’t this entire area cultivated?

However.

This Sky-reaching Vine had another identity.

It was a distant relative of an extinct plant.

Not too far, not too near.

That is, the Blue Sea Green Vine!

A necessary ingredient for concocting Life-prolonging Elixirs!

In the past, dicine King Valley had a formula, but lacking Blue Sea Green Vine, they had to substitute with human blood.

And the one Julius Reed had in Demarco Mount, too, had vanished.

Planting Sky-reaching Vine as far as the eye could see served only one purpose.

To try and substitute it for Blue Sea Green Vine.

“Indeed, the mission to Swimming City is far more complex than I thought!” Julius Reed suddenly turned his head, looking in the direction from which they’d co.

There, the lackey who had let them in appeared to be communicating sothing with a man of apparent status.

And the man, sensing Julius Reed’s gaze, raised his head directly.

Their eyes t.
