Chapter 1495: Chapter 1495: At the End of the Map
The mont Devlin reached into his robes, ti seed to freeze.
Colton Leopold appeared slightly tense.
A calculating mind, he chose to arrange the eting in Swimming City to minimize risk.
This bustling district was far away from the City Lord’s Mansion, and Hakeem Ridge’s guards were stationed within Swimming City.
If anything happened, they could respond instantly.
Both Hakeem Ridge and Silas Cook were equally alert.
No one knew what Prince Bradley might produce from his robes.
Was it the map?
Or perhaps a dagger?
Swimming City was Hakeem Ridge’s stronghold, and entry to the area required strict security checks.
Concealed weapon boxes were allowed—after all, Swimming City was a den of sin.
However, to enter this private room, anyone other than Silas Cook and Colton Leopold—whose identities gave them special privileges—had to surrender their weapons!
Hakeem Ridge tightened his grip on the concealed weapon box in his hand, his eyes fixed unwaveringly on Devlin.
Finally.
Devlin withdrew his hand from his robes.
It was a scroll.
“Let make this clear: Only when I am seated on the City Lord’s throne will I hand over this map to you!” Devlin pressed the map firmly under both hands.
It seed that if negotiations fell apart, he would destroy it outright.
“Relax. All we want is tangible assets, not the City Lord’s position,” Colton Leopold spoke first, attempting to ease Devlin’s concerns.
The map had yet to be unrolled, and he couldn’t confirm whether it truly depicted the distribution of forces guarding the City Lord’s Mansion.
In this situation, he had to stabilize the other party first, and once the contents of the map were verified, Shadow Warrior would deliver a deadly blow!
“Does Prince Bradley have any reservations?” Hakeem Ridge also harbored anticipation in his heart.
If it was just as Colton Leopold claid, acquiring the map would make overthrowing the City Lord a straightforward affair for the Middle Three Road.
Once the forces of the City Lord’s Mansion were consolidated, the Upper Two Roads could be extinguished in one fell swoop, and Swimming City would be within their grasp!
“With concealed weapon boxes aid at , I can’t help but feel uneasy.” Devlin patted his garnts, indicating he wasn’t carrying any weapons.
“I need assurances, assurances that once I reveal the map, I won’t be killed by you all.” As he spoke, he pressed his left hand against the map and retrieved a pack of cigarettes from his chest pocket with his right.
“This move is no different than asking a tiger for its skin. But fortune favors the bold, and this is my best chance to beco City Lord.” Devlin placed a cigarette in his mouth as the masked servant behind him imdiately lit it with a lighter.
“Let’s not mince words. This map is only half a complete picture, but even this half is enough for you to infiltrate the City Lord’s Mansion. At that ti, as long as you support as the City Lord and lend an army, I will deal with the other half of the forces!”
Hiss!
He inhaled deeply and waited for the trio’s response.
The room filled with smoke.
Hakeem Ridge waved his hand in irritation to disperse the smoke.
If it weren’t for the urgent need, he would’ve shot Prince Bradley dead for having the audacity to smoke in his presence!
Smoking here? It was as good as courting death!
“May I ask what would make you believe us?” Silas Cook stepped closer, standing one ter away from Devlin with a smile. “We three are sincere about collaborating with you. However, fearing betrayal after we’ve achieved our goals is only natural. Please state your conditions—if they’re reasonable, we’ll certainly agree!”
“Indeed! We must show good faith.” Colton Leopold nodded in agreent, though his hand stayed at his waist.
As soon as the map was fully revealed, his concealed weapon would certainly pierce through Devlin’s head!
Using the map to keep them in check?
What they truly needed was the City Lord dead!
Once the City Lord was killed, the armory would be like headless flies, entirely devoid of deterrence!
“I agree as well.” Hakeem Ridge chid in last.
They couldn’t agree too readily; otherwise, it might arouse the other party’s suspicion.
“Alright! Since everyone is so straightforward, it would be unseemly for to be overly cautious and risk being mocked.” Devlin took a few rapid puffs, filling the room with thick smoke.
“Pah!”
He spat the cigarette butt onto the floor and slowly unrolled the map with both hands.
Six pairs of piercing eyes stared intensely!
They were eager to uncover its secrets!
Today’s events hinged entirely on this map!
“Those concealed weapon boxes…” Devlin turned his head to glance at the guards by the door.
“Close the door! Without my command, no one is permitted to enter!” Hakeem Ridge ordered, and the guards quickly shut the doors.
“Prince Bradley, can you proceed now?” Hakeem Ridge’s eyes glead as he spoke.
A portion of the map was revealed.
It was indeed the layout of the City Lord’s Mansion.
The City Lord’s Mansion had stood for years as the seat of power in Swimming City, and mbers of the Middle Three Road often visited to discuss city affairs.
Although so areas were restricted, the accessible parts matched the map’s depiction exactly!
Moreover, the map also indicated the deploynt of the garrison forces!
The numbers were consistent with what they had observed during their visits to the City Lord’s Mansion.
The trio began to trust the map’s authenticity.
“Please continue, sir!” Silas Cook urged impatiently.
“Fine! But rember my words—do not try to betray .” Devlin began to unroll the map further.
Gradually, the entire map ca into view.
It was indeed half of the City Lord’s Mansion layout.
At its center lay a red dot—the City Lord’s location.
The surrounding troop deploynts were detailed and clear, with red dots representing Great Grandmasters, blue dots for Grandmasters, and white dots for ordinary garrison troops.
“My goodness! The City Lord is flanked by three Great Grandmasters and eight Grandmasters. If we were to charge in recklessly, it’d be impossible to escape!”
Silas Cook broke into a cold sweat in shock. This City Lord was far too cunning!
It was fortunate they had the map!
“Devlin, is the information on this map accurate?” Colton Leopold gripped his concealed weapon box, ready to fire at any mont.
With the three of them combined, dealing with Devlin and his servant would be effortless.
Outside the room, more Grandmasters stood guard.
At first glance, Prince Bradley seed to be dood.
“It’s accurate.” Devlin leaned against his chair and sneered. “Colton, let your weapon fly.”
“What?”
Colton Leopold, who had already half-drawn his dart, froze in confusion.
“You know?” He raised his concealed weapon box, aiming at Devlin’s head!
Crash!
At the sa mont, Hakeem Ridge and Silas Cook also drew concealed weapon boxes, pointing them at Devlin.
“Of course I know you would betray after this is over.” Devlin displayed no fear; instead, his tone carried a hint of ridicule. “You three swine dare pretend to be Marshal Starpoint in front of !”
“How dare you!” Hakeem Ridge was first enraged but soon burst into laughter. “Thank you for bringing us this map, but as for the City Lord position, you’ll have to wait for your next life to claim it.”
He prepared to pull the trigger without hesitation—any delay would lead to endless complications!
However.
The three n suddenly exchanged glances, their faces filled with terror.
They found themselves paralyzed.
Even speaking was impossible.
“The cigarette I just smoked had poison in it,” Devlin stood, rolling up the map and securing it within his robes. Turning to Hagan Marsh, he said, “Take care of the killing.”
“With pleasure.” Hagan Marsh removed the mask from his face, drew a sharp dagger, and approached Colton Leopold with a chilling smile. “I’ve heard you were looking for ?”
