Capítulo 1340: Chapter 1340: Seeking Immortality at the Yellow Springs (Part 1)

When Chuzheng woke up, she was still in that room.

She patted herself down and fortunately, she hadn’t been taken to be cremated.

She checked the ti; it was almost ti for her to get off work… So the Bastard actually knew his place?

Chuzheng rubbed her forehead, feeling a headache coming on.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the bracelet placed on the ga chamber…

Useless.

Even taking it off didn’t help.

The Bastard could still get her inside.

Could she have been wrong?

Or…

Chuzheng retrieved the bracelet, contemplated for a mont, and then put it back on her wrist.

No matter what, this bracelet was highly suspicious.

Chuzheng took one last look at the ga chamber before getting up to leave.

Hu Shuo was not in the villa, and the others, seeing Chuzheng coming down, dared not stop her. They watched her leave flamboyantly, wearing flip-flops and swaying in those loose shorts.

Chuzheng returned to Wenxian Road, just as the businesses there were getting ready to open.

All the shops were gradually opening their doors. Chuzheng walked to No. 13 Wenxian Road, where Xing Qiao was sitting alone at the doorway, face in hands, looking sowhat dazed at the bustling Wenxian Road.

Liu Zhong was not by his side; he was probably busy with sothing else.

Chuzheng thought for a mont, then slowly walked over: “Are you adjusting well?”

Xing Qiao looked up at Chuzheng, stood up imdiately, and coolly replied, “I’m fine.”

Chuzheng glanced inside at the empty and silent shop: “Close the door and co over to my place for now.”

“Why?”

Chuzheng, hands behind her back, took on the role of a guide: “The clientele of Wenxian Road primarily consists of unknown entities. If you leave the door open and there’s nothing inside, it will cause trouble.”

So unknown entities are simply a nuisance, and handling these types of ‘citizen’ disputes is quite irritating.

Xing Qiao froze for a mont: “So… the ones who co here… aren’t human?”

“There are so humans,” Chuzheng said, “but many more are unknown entities residing here.”

Xing Qiao’s expression changed slightly, but he quickly regained his composure.

He closed the door and followed Chuzheng back.

Chuzheng pushed the door open and entered. Without doing anything, the lights inside automatically turned on.

The first thing Xing Qiao noticed was a paper effigy standing by the counter, grinning eerily at the entrance.

If you didn’t look at its face, it resembled a store greeter.

Xing Qiao inexplicably felt a chilling aura in the place; everything seed strangely eerie.

Taking a deep breath, Xing Qiao stepped inside cautiously, his eyes scanning around as he observed his surroundings.

Apart from the paper effigy and the incense, wax, and paper candles on the shelves, there was nothing else unusual.

“Have you eaten?” Chuzheng asked him.

“…No.”

“I haven’t either.” Chuzheng pulled out a chair and sat down, commanding him to do sothing: “Go next door and bring back two bowls of noodles.”

Xing Qiao: “…”

Obediently, Xing Qiao turned around to get the noodles next door.

Liu Zhong wasn’t there, but the staff were.

Hearing it was for Chuzheng, they quickly prepared it and even helped carry it to the door.

The staff wouldn’t go inside, so Xing Qiao had to bring the bowls in one by one.

As Xing Qiao glanced at the counter, the paper effigy that was there earlier was now sitting beside Chuzheng.

Its hands were resting on the table, grinning with its big red lips at him.

As if ready for a al.

Xing Qiao stood frozen there.

That paper effigy…

Chuzheng sat beside it, casually scrolling through a screen, seemingly oblivious to the paper effigy.

Gulping, Xing Qiao cald himself, walked over, and placed the noodles on the table.

Chuzheng closed the virtual screen, ignored the paper effigy, and grabbed the bowl of noodles to start eating.

Xing Qiao held his own bowl, placing it opposite the paper effigy.

He certainly didn’t dare sit beside it.

“That… thing next to you…”

“Ignore it,” Chuzheng said nonchalantly.

Xing Qiao: “…”

That ant it wasn’t dangerous.

Thinking this, Xing Qiao relaxed a bit.

“How much do you know about your parents’ accidental deaths?”

At the ntion of his parents, Xing Qiao’s stoic expression softened.

“I… don’t know much.”

After all, he was just a kid.

Things like this, they wouldn’t tell him.

Xing Qiao thought for a mont and said, “During the ti my dad had the accident, he was very uneasy. I could feel it.”

“What else?”

Xing Qiao thought again and shook his head.

Chuzheng didn’t get any useful information and motioned for Xing Qiao to hurry and eat.

Before Xing Qiao finished eating, he suddenly felt his pass was getting warm.

He took out the pass.

The pattern on the pass was glowing.

Instinctively, Xing Qiao looked at Chuzheng.

Chuzheng rested her chin on one hand, speaking slowly, “There’s a situation you need to handle.”

“…”

Xing Qiao was at a loss, not knowing how to handle it at all.

Chuzheng sighed inwardly and went next door to find Liu Zhong.

Instead, she was inford by the staff that Liu Zhong had gone out and hadn’t returned yet.

Chuzheng stood at the door, pondering with one foot on the threshold, then called Xing Qiao out.

With Liu Zhong absent, and this kid having never done a task before, if she didn’t take him, he’d just croak.

Then she’d have to find the next successor.

Annoying!

Xing Qiao ca out, and in that brief mont, the once-empty street was now gradually becoming populated.

Just at a glance, it seed no different from a regular night market.

Bustling, lively, and prosperous…

But Xing Qiao could see the things residing within the bodies.

Xing Qiao left with a determined look on his small face.

Chuzheng didn’t bother closing the door, letting it remain open as she led him to No. 13.

Xing Qiao swiped in, and Chuzheng brought him to the mirror.

Chuzheng, like a boss, nudged the mirror with her foot: “Teleport.”

A giant red exclamation point appeared on the mirror, the type that even dripped blood.

Then ca an angry emoticon.

“Hurry up,” Chuzheng nudged again.

The mirror flipped through several pages of protesting emoticons, but Chuzheng didn’t care and raised her foot as if to kick again.

Finally, the mirror changed. The transparent surface suddenly rippled, waves spreading outward until they covered the entire mirror.

Roughly, Chuzheng grabbed Xing Qiao by the collar and shoved him toward the mirror.

Instinctively, Xing Qiao closed his eyes.

However, he didn’t hit the mirror; instead, he felt a montary weightlessness, followed by a fresh air different from that of Wenxian Road filling his lungs, and a fine drizzle falling down.

Xing Qiao opened his eyes to find himself being slowly placed on the ground.

This seed to be a park, and because it was raining, even though it was still early, not a person was in sight.

Had he just… arrived in another place?

“Check your pass,” Chuzheng, holding an umbrella from who-knows-where with one hand and casually keeping the other in her pocket, spoke as the rain seed to cool her voice.

Even though he was experiencing such an event, Xing Qiao remained relatively calm.

He checked his pass, noticing a red dot flashing on the pattern, quickly confirming that the pass functioned as a map by adjusting his orientation.

Chuzheng lowered her gaze to look at Xing Qiao.

Xing Qiao had already determined the direction and, with tiny strides, headed that way.

The small figure, at this mont, exuded a sense of solitary courage.

Chuzheng squinted slightly, leisurely following with an umbrella.
