Now reading: Chapter 1845: Lost in the Wilderness (2) from Let's Squander A Billion First!, a Sci-fi novel by Mo Ling.

This guy is Lan Chen; he’s actually quite handso.

Rich and handso, a guy like him is popular at school; even if he isn’t interested, plenty of people would flock to him.

Perhaps it’s "the unattainable is the most desirable," so Lan Chen was obsessed with the original host, trying everything to get her, and ultimately caused her death...

Chuzheng said expressionlessly, "Asleep."

"At a ti like this, you still have the mood to sleep." The speaker was a girl, roughly twenty-three or twenty-four, with small curls just reaching her shoulders.

She was a mber of another team, nad Gan Lu, and from the mont they t, Gan Lu seed to have an issue with the original host.

The original host never provoked her, so the only reason could be... her looks.

Being attractive is a kind of cri.

Unfortunately, she never saw the original host’s appearance, unable to admire her own beauty.

"Alright Gan Lu, just say a few words less; Miss Liu isn’t feeling well, right?" The speaker was a man with glasses standing next to Gan Lu.

"Heh, since the departure, she’s been feeling unwell all the ti. What if things get worse?" With soone speaking up for Chuzheng, Gan Lu beca angrier.

Gan Lu glared at the people present, "n are all the sa."

Gan Lu shoved past her companions blocking the way and left by herself.

"What a person." Li Tian leaned against her boyfriend, furrowed her brows, and said, "Xiao Zheng didn’t provoke her; what’s her attitude?"

"Gan Lu didn’t an it; it’s just the current situation, she’s anxious." The glasses-wearing man explained, apologizing for Gan Lu.

"Alright alright, it’s fine, everyone is okay, don’t let anything else happen."

A man slightly older stepped out to diate the situation, the leader of the other team, who everyone called Brother Gao.

"I’m sorry." Brother Gao apologized politely, and Li Tian and the others had nothing more to say.

Chuzheng calmly scanned over the people outside the door.

Besides Gan Lu, there was another girl being supported, trembling in fear.

The one shouting and screaming outside earlier must have been her.

Finally, Brother Gao suggested everyone return outside for safety.

Soone went to call Gan Lu, but Gan Lu refused to co out and yelled at the person who went.

"Forget it, let her be."

Chuzheng found a place to sit, and Lan Chen imdiately scooted over, reaching out to grab Chuzheng’s wrist.

"Xiao Zheng, has your cold gotten better?"

Chuzheng discreetly avoided him, "It’s fine."

Lan Chen said, "I still have so cold dicine, want so more?"

The worry in Lan Chen’s eyes didn’t seem fake. If it weren’t for knowing what he did afterward, Chuzheng would think he’s just trying to be a pursuer.

People are truly terrifying.

Chuzheng pressed on her wrist, forcing herself not to act rashly.

So many people are watching here.

Stay calm, stay calm.

Find a chance to get rid of him!!

Lan Chen couldn’t touch Chuzheng’s hand and showed obvious disappointnt, though he quickly masked it.

"Xiao Zheng, are you cold?" Lan Chen persistently showed concern for her.

"Not cold."

They were all wearing windbreaker jackets, which were quite warm, but with the current weather, it was still a bit chilly.

Chuzheng coldly rejected all of Lan Chen’s kindness.

Lan Chen, seeing his overtures rebuffed, quickly lost interest and turned to talk to Xie Ningfeng.

Chuzheng once again surveyed the people present.

The team on Brother Gao’s side was clearly more professional, except for the shivering girl.

Moreover, that group seed to... have skills.

As for Lan Chen’s group, they could only be called enthusiasts, far from professional.

This ti, it’s unclear why they ca to such a place...

-

"Uncle Min, where has the Boat Captain gone?" Brother Gao asked the middle-aged man standing nearby, who was their guide for this trip.

At this ti, the group hadn’t realized the Boat Captain was missing, assuming he was repairing the boat.

Uncle Min checked the ti, also feeling sothing was off, "I’ll go look for him."

"You two go with Uncle Min, just in case," Brother Gao pointed to two male team mbers in his group.

The two had no objections and went with Uncle Min to find the Boat Captain.

Half an hour passed, and Uncle Min returned with the others.

"Couldn’t find him."

"Couldn’t find him?" Brother Gao was puzzled.

Uncle Min furrowed his brow and shook his head, "I’ve searched everywhere possible, couldn’t find him, didn’t even see the Boat Captain’s son."

The boat isn’t that big, and there are only a few places the Boat Captain could be.

He searched thoroughly and didn’t see a shadow.

The atmosphere in the room instantly beca tense again.

"What happened, how could he not be found?"

"Could the Boat Captain have run away?"

"Where would he run, there’s only one boat, and with this weather, he’d be seeking death running away, besides why would he just run away?"

"True..."

"Then where did he go?"

Soone nervously muttered, "Could it be... could it be haunted?"

Everyone simultaneously felt a chill, glaring at the person who spoke, why talk about hauntings?

"Don’t talk nonsense."

"So where did the Boat Captain go?"

"Could he have t with an accident?" Earlier, the boat suddenly stopped, and the Boat Captain said he was taking his son to check if there was a problem.

Now it’s dark and stormy outside; one careless mistake could lead to an accident...

This explanation was far more believable than the haunting.

"I think... we should wait for daylight."

Despite the storm outside, this was not at sea, so they were temporarily safe.

Finally, everyone decided to wait till dawn.

Brother Gao and his group had been through situations before; a re incident wouldn’t make them panic.

For safety, no one returned to their rooms; everyone stayed in the hall, each occupying a corner to rest.

-

Outside, the noise gradually ceased, and the light began to dawn.

Chuzheng was the first to go out; the water was calm, trees on both sides were blown in one direction, so snapped at their trunks, scattered in the water.

Chuzheng walked around the boat and saw a pile of ropes on the deck, half hanging in the water.

Chuzheng leaned against the railing, looking down.

Beside the hanging rope, she saw a faint bloody handprint, as if soone tried desperately to climb up, only to fall into the water.

In the original host’s mory, the Boat Captain and his son never appeared again, likely deceased.

"Miss Liu, you’re up so early?"

Chuzheng turned around, Brother Gao approached while dressing.

"What are you looking at?"

"Nothing." Chuzheng lifted her gaze towards the distance, her deanor cold, her face clearly saying, "I don’t want to chat."

"It rained yesterday, but today’s weather is unexpectedly nice..." Brother Gao wasn’t familiar with Chuzheng, so he didn’t press on, "I’ll go look for the Boat Captain again; would Miss Liu like to join?"

"No need." You’re surely not going to find the Boat Captain.

Brother Gao seed to give her a peculiar look before continuing to look for the Boat Captain elsewhere.
