Mouse is indeed familiar with this place, leading Chuzheng around without taking a detour, quickly going around the entire village.
The village is indeed large, and so of these stone buildings still bear traces of previous inhabitants, but there’s not much left,
perhaps taken away by the last group of people.
Chuzheng made a lap without finding anything strange and decided to head back.
Out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly saw a black shadow flash by, her brows twitched, and she chased after it for a couple of steps.
However, when she rounded the corner, she only saw lush vines growing there, with no signs of anyone having passed by and no places nearby to hide.
What was that black shadow?
Was it a person?
How did it suddenly disappear?
Is it haunted?!
Chuzheng searched around without finding anything suspicious, so she returned to the temporary camp, glancing casually at the people there, and everyone was present...
Brother Gao was directing people to move back several usable items and was currently checking them.
Those cans were also brought back, opened by soone, and seed still edible.
Their food was already running out. Although there was food on the mountain, it was not as convenient as canned food. Since they were still edible, there was no need to go through the trouble of finding more food.
"Where did you go?"
Upon returning, Gan Lu looked at her suspiciously.
"What’s it to you." Chuzheng replied coldly.
"..."
Brother Gao smiled, seemingly kindly reminding: "Miss Liu, I hope you avoid acting alone, we don’t know what dangers could be here, and if you encounter any trouble, we can’t rescue you in ti."
Chuzheng glanced at Brother Gao, but didn’t feel he was genuinely concerned.
"No need." Just don’t expect to rescue you.
Chuzheng walked towards the edge, Uncle Min had already set up her tent, she went inside to change her clothes and ca out to eat.
Li Tian was asking Xie Ningfeng to take her picture.
There’s no signal here so she couldn’t post them, which made Li Tian quite dissatisfied, but she still insisted on taking pictures.
Finally, Li Tian even changed into so clothes she brought, as if she was here solely for the photos.
To be fair, the place was quite scenic, especially the stone buildings entwined with vines, which offered a touch of aesthetic appeal.
Lan Chen glared coldly in her direction, but Chuzheng boldly looked back at him.
What are you looking at!
I’m a girl you’ll never have!
As night fell, a fire was started in the middle of the camp, everyone sat around; Chuzheng was kicked out of the chat group, sitting alone by the tent.
"Lan Chen, how did you know about this place?" Brother Gao asked curiously.
"I saw this journal in my grandfather’s study, it recorded the place, so I decided to co and see. I didn’t expect the place to really exist."
"Recorded?"
Lan Chen pulled out a rather old journal without much caution: "This one. It doesn’t record much, it seems my grandfather visited here with soone. Perhaps the items we found today were left by them."
Brother Gao nodded, then asked: "Can I borrow it to have a look?"
"Sure."
Lan Chen handed the journal over: "Brother Gao, how did you end up here?"
Brother Gao appeared candid: "There’s an old legend in our area about a mysterious village that most people can’t find. Since we are enthusiasts, we decided to co."
Lan Chen was slightly enlightened: "I see."
Having flipped through Lan Chen’s journal, Brother Gao found it contained little information.
It rely ntioned the place, and the owner of the journal ca along with a group, recording so plant growth and geographical environnt.
Brother Gao returned the journal to Lan Chen: "What did your grandfather do for a living?"
"Business." Lan Chen casually put the journal back into his bag.
Brother Gao held back further questions, likely to avoid arousing suspicion: "What do you plan next, Lan Chen, are you going back?"
Lan Chen looked around, sowhat unimpressed: "There’s not much here, if there’s nothing interesting tomorrow, I’ll return."
The group seed to be here just to check off boxes, Brother Gao smiled and changed the topic.
Chuzheng crossed her arms, listening to their conversation, there wasn’t much useful information.
And who knows how much of it was watered down...
Chuzheng looked over at them; shadows cast by the fire danced on the tent with the wind, making them sway...
She shifted her gaze away, and instantly looked back.
Why are there nine shadows over there?
Guide Uncle Min had just gone into the tent, she saw it herself, there should only be eight people there, why are there nine shadows?
A gust of wind blowing through the chilling night air raised goosebumps all over.
Chuzheng calmly hugged her arms.
I’m a bit freaked out.
Is this place haunted?!
Woooooo——
Sounds emanated from so unknown place, giving everyone goosebumps.
"Probably the wind."
"Seems like wind sounds..."
"Don’t panic, there’s many of us here."
"I think we should rest and talk tomorrow."
"Okay."
They sorted things out to disperse, Chuzheng was about to return to her tent when she saw Uncle Min returning from the other side: "Miss Liu."
Chuzheng: "!!!"
Who went into Uncle Min’s tent just now?
Chuzheng’s tent and Uncle Min’s tent were next to each other; she went over and lifted the tent flap, shining a flashlight inside.
The inside was empty, nothing there.
"Miss Liu, what’s the matter?"
Chuzheng gestured for him to enter: "See if anything’s missing."
Uncle Min looked puzzled but considered her a client, so he bent down inside.
"Nothing missing." Uncle Min checked thoroughly.
Chuzheng: "..."
"Miss Liu, what is it?"
"Nothing."
Chuzheng returned to her own tent, hesitating between thinking she mistook or insisting she absolutely didn’t mistake anything.
Soone went into Uncle Min’s tent but she didn’t see anyone leave.
This is crazy.
Chuzheng lay down, stared at the tent’s top while thinking, the wind making it rustle, becoming quite noisy, frustrating her even more.
Eventually, unable to figure it out, she decided to sleep first.
-
Nothing happened that night.
The next morning, Chuzheng was the first to wake. She erged from the tent and found it surrounded by fog, only able to see nearby tents, the rest was obscured.
The moist fog touched her face with the chill of dawn.
She took advantage of the absence of others to stretch, then glanced around and saw a person standing in the distant fog.
Chuzheng: "!!!"
Chuzheng squinted to distinguish but couldn’t make out who it was.
Pressing her wrist against her side, she approached the figure that remained motionless as her sight gradually cleared.
The first thing she discerned was the attire, it was a jacket, which everyone in the group wore, but the color...
