Jax walked through the ruined streets with Maya by his side.
She looked scared. The kind of scared that ca from knowing an entire army wanted her dead. But having her brother next to her pushed those thoughts away.
She wrapped both hands around his arm. Held on tight. Like she used to when they were kids walking through bad neighborhoods.
She waited for him to pat her head. Say sothing reassuring. Anything.
Nothing ca.
She looked up at his face.
He was sowhere else entirely. Eyes distant. Mind working through sothing heavy.
Jax was calculating.
’I need to win this thing. No exceptions. No compromises.’
But winning wasn’t enough. He also needed to keep Maya safe. Not captured. Not hard. Not a single scratch on her.
The quest he received was still burning in his mind. He ntally trimd it down to what mattered.
Failure two. Transmigration into that raisin-dicked man. Forever.
That option was crossed out permanently. He would never dare choose another wish from goddess apart from her body. The system had made sure of that.
’Whoever sent that quest knew exactly what they were doing. Build the fear first. Show the worst possible outco. Make sure I never consider alternatives.’
And the other failure? Going back to Earth?
That boring life. No magic. No adventure.
Nah. He didn’t want that either.
’I’ll do whatever it takes to avoid both.’
He thought about the academy. It had potential. Resources. Items. Training facilities. Things that could make him stronger.
But that door was closed now. He wasn’t a professor anymore. Just another guy who pissed off the wrong people.
’Fine. I’ll find another way.’
He could roam freely now. Kill beasts. Hunt evils. Even eliminate people if necessary. Every kill ant experience. Every experience ant levels.
And his system was clearly in favor of him winning. It would grant him paid levels. Help him grow faster.
Plus there was the other thod.
Fucking his way through adventure. Every woman’s scream and mourn granted him points and every of this conquest ant power.
’The grind never stops.’
Then another problem surfaced.
He glanced down at Maya. She was already looking up at him.
He gave her a small smile.
She smiled back. Bright. Trusting. Pure.
’Shit.’
Keeping her around would create complications. Massive ones.
He couldn’t show her his other side. The manipulation. The seduction. The things he did to won who opposed him.
He imagined Maya watching him use Soul Thief on soone. Watching him break a woman’s will. Watching him—
’No. Definitely not.’
She needed to be sowhere safe. Sowhere far from his thods.
But this ga had stakes. He could lose everything or gain everything. If he succeeded, he’d have powers that were foreign to any world roam around being an anomaly with these skills and cherry on top-- If he fucked every race, he could travel dinsions freely.
And eventually, he could et Maya again. On his terms. With godlike abilities.
’I haven’t planned anything concrete yet. For her or myself.’
One step at a ti.
They finally reached the battlefield.
Or what used to be a battlefield.
The palace grounds of ridax had transford into sothing else entirely. Bodies scattered everywhere. Blood soaking into the stone. The sll of death hanging thick in the air.
A graveyard. That’s what it was now. A graveyard decorated with the fallen ambitions of two worlds.
Jax looked around at the carnage.
’Still that couple’s bedroom was more insane.’
He recalled Lisa’s complete lack of embarrassnt when they walked past her. She didn’t flinch. Didn’t break character. Didn’t even acknowledge that two strangers had just witnessed her dominating her husband.
She had stayed fully in her commander roleplay.
"The eting is concluded, I presu?" Her voice had been cold. Authoritative. "You may vacate my premises imdiately. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary asures."
Then she cracked the whip again.
CRACK!
"I DIDN’T SAY STOP COUNTING!"
"F-forty seven, Mistress!"
Jax had to respect the dedication.
’If Maya wasn’t with , I would’ve played with her, with her...’
He could already imagine it. Joining her ga. Matching her energy. Seeing how far that commander fantasy went before she broke character and begged for sothing else.
Another fantasy added to the list.
Of course, he wouldn’t use Soul Thief on her. He didn’t want that body. That pathetic excuse for a male form. That glorified flesh noodle pretending to be a man.
’I’d rather fuck as myself, thanks.’
But again, Maya was the hurdle. He couldn’t exactly seduce random won with his sister watching.
’She needs to be sowhere else. Soon.’
Jax spotted familiar figures in the distance.
The faculty mbers were gathered near the palace entrance. All of them. Lysandra was talking to soone on the ground.
As he got closer, he recognized them.
Sylvie and Roxana. Both seated. Both being healed by academy healers. Their faces were exhausted but alive.
Nearby, the heroines had ford their own circle. Four of them. But they weren’t discussing strategy or celebrating victory.
They were arguing.
Or more specifically, three of them were ganging up on one.
Kiera.
Azara’s arms were crossed. Thalia was gesturing aggressively. Zinnia looked like she was trying not to laugh.
And Kiera was shrinking under the pressure of whatever they were saying.
Jax took another step forward.
Zharina noticed first. She was facing their direction. Her expression shifted from bored to shocked in an instant.
One by one, the others turned.
Rowen. Kessiri. Lysandra. Lucindra. The healers. The soldiers.
All eyes landed on Jax.
Then on Maya.
The stares weren’t welcoming. They were filled with sothing else.
Anger.
Pure, undiluted anger. All directed at the girl hiding behind him.
’Ah. So they found out that she was the leader.’
Jax sighed.
"Oh co on. How you ended up being the actual leader?"
Maya pressed herself against his back. Her voice ca out small. Scared.
"It was... it was supposed to be easy. Harry was the one performing. He was the most powerful. Our family had the influence. Everyone considered him the leader."
She peeked out from behind Jax.
"But Zoe... she manipulated him. Made the official leader instead."
She put on an innocent face.
"Actually... it was who wanted it. I told her to do it. If I was the leader, it would be easier to claim the ultimate wish. The one only the winner gets."
Jax turned and looked at her.
She made a guilty expression. Eyes down. Lips pouty.
Completely fake.
’Sa old Maya.’
Before they could continue their sibling exchange, the others jumped in.
"Well, well." Rowen’s voice was gruff. Angry. "Look who decided to co back."
Kessiri’s tail flicked behind her. "And here I thought this girl would return missing a few body parts. Maybe an arm. Maybe worse."
Sylvie and Roxana looked up from their healing session. Their eyes moved from Jax to Maya. Confusion spread across their faces.
They had seen what Jax could do. The brutality. The revenge. They knew what Jax’s ’punishnt’ ant. It wasn’t just physical pain. It was sothing that broke people in ways bones couldn’t.
But here she was. Unhard. Untouched. And he was shielding her.
Nothing made sense.
Lysandra stepped forward. Her amber eyes were cold.
"Professor Jax. Now that you have returned, you shall hand her over to us. As per the promise you made."
Her voice carried authority.
"This girl is critical to our investigation. She was leading the enemy forces. And now she is who we need."
Jax said nothing.
His mind was racing. Looking for angles. Looking for ways to twist this in his favor.
But before he could speak, movent caught his attention.
Guards from the academy side were already approaching. Their orders were clear. Take the prisoner.
One of them reached toward Maya. His hand extended. Fingers ready to grab her wrist.
Maya’s grip on Jax’s arm tightened. Her nails dug into his skin.
The guard’s hand got closer.
Inches away.
Jax moved.
His palm shot forward and slamd into the guard’s stomach. The man flew backward. Hit the ground. Groaned. Started pushing himself up with murder in his eyes.
"What is the aning of this?"
Lysandra’s voice cut through the tension.
But before Jax could answer, soone else spoke.
Zharina.
She was smiling. That arrogant, knowing smile.
"Headmistress, haven’t you figured it out by now?"
She stepped forward. Arms crossed.
"He’s a horny dog. No. He was always a horny dog. I bet he forgot all about his revenge. That whole story about Queen Adelina. All that righteous anger Professor Roxana told us about."
Her smile widened.
"I bet he forgot everything the mont that girl showed him her pretty little pussy."
Silence.
Then Jax moved.
Not walked. Not ran.
Charged.
His sword was out. Aid directly at Zharina’s throat. His eyes had gone cold. Dead. The eyes of soone who had decided to kill.
This wasn’t about insults to him.
This was about his sister.
Zharina saw death coming. Her eyes went wide. Her body froze.
He was too fast. Too close. His blade was inches from her neck.
Then everything happened at once.
Rowen’s axe swung in from the left. Kessiri’s blades ca from the right. Lysandra’s invisible threads wrapped around his sword arm.
tal clashed against tal. His attack was stopped. Parried by three professors at once.
Behind them, dozens of ard soldiers had their weapons raised. Ready to strike if he pushed further.
Jax knew before he even started.
His attack couldn’t land. Not against this many. Not against this coordination.
But that was fine.
He had a backup plan.
While everyone focused on his sword, his leg moved.
Fast. Low. Precise.
His foot shot upward from below.
Direct hit.
Right between Zharina’s legs.
The impact was brutal. His boot connected with soft flesh. Crushed it against bone.
The sound that ca out of Zharina’s mouth wasn’t human.
"HHHNNNGGGGAAAHHHHH—!"
A shriek that echoed across the entire battlefield. High-pitched. Broken. The kind of scream that made everyone in earshot wince instinctively.
Her knees buckled. Her hands shot down to clutch herself. Her face twisted into an expression of pure, absolute agony.
She collapsed.
