Scarlett was livid with anger, wishing she could point at her nose and accuse her of lying!
They had just been talking. How could Enna possibly not have seen her in front of her?
Enna had tripped her on purpose!
Yet, she couldn’t utter a word. It was not that she didn’t dare to speak, but that she couldn’t. Because once she did, it would reveal the fact that she had just tried to fra Enna!
Though she had intended to take a fake tumble, she had actually fallen, causing a stabbing pain in her knee. She felt irritated and stifled, like swallowing a bitter pill, badly wanting to bite soone in her misery, yet unable to make a sound!
She knew that others were about to arrive and she should have held back, adamantly insisting that Enna did trip her on purpose; however, she was young and had always been coddled, never having suffered such indignity. Enna’s calm deanor, coming over to help her up as if it had not been intentional, infuriated her further, and she couldn’t control herself. She slapped Enna’s hand away, “Don’t pretend to be kind!”
Right at that mont, everyone had arrived.
They witnessed the scene where she slapped Enna’s hand away.
And heard how harsh the slap was, how loud it echoed on Enna’s hand.
The housekeeper’s face darkened imdiately. He didn’t show his anger overtly, but his distant attitude towards Scarlett was quite apparent. He turned and asked, “Ms. Clark, what happened?”
He did not ask Scarlett first, but directed the question straight to Enna, effectively giving her the initiative.
Enna was not foolish. Before Scarlett could speak, she said apologetically, “I was walking behind and didn’t notice that Her Highness had stopped, and I accidentally tripped her. I’m sorry, Your Highness.”
This Princess wanted to falsely accuse her of tripping her, didn’t she?
If she was going to be blad anyway, why not truly take action?
At least that way, she would feel better about taking the bla.
By stating it was “an accident,” Scarlett found it difficult to insist that it was intentional. As the housekeeper for the Lawrence Family, seeing his ‘master’ been ‘bullied,’ his attitude was naturally not warm, and he said coldly, “Since Your Highness is injured, perhaps you should not continue walking around. I will find a doctor to take a look at your injury.”
Scarlett’s knee hurt trendously, but she had to pretend to be strong, “No need, my knee isn’t that bad…”
The two female officers beside her urged her, worried, “Your Highness, please let the doctor examine you.”
“Yes, please allow the doctor to look at your knee. It would be bad if the wound gets infected.”
Scarlett then reluctantly agreed, “Alright then. Thank you for your trouble.”
The housekeeper said indifferently, “Of course, Your Highness.”
