"I’m not quite available, Austin is more on the way..." Adam instinctively frowned and refused.
The girl, unhappy, said, "He’s had so much to drink, he’s practically passed out. How can he give a ride? You’re the only one here who hasn’t been drinking, can you please just take Sister Renee ho? You don’t have to worry about your girlfriend getting jealous, right? She’s not that petty, is she?"
The woman with flushed cheeks, though not completely drunk, grabbed the person next to her upon hearing this, "Keke, it’s fine. I’ll hail a cab myself in a bit."
"Don’t do that, it’s so late and risky for a girl to take a cab," Keke said anxiously.
Renee, her eyes blurry with intoxication, shook her head at her, indicating to drop the subject.
The girl frowned, glaring at Adam with displeasure but still held back. She huffed, turned her face aside, and said, "Fine, I just don’t trust you going ho alone. How about you join us for karaoke first, and then when we’re done, I’ll go back with you. I’ll call my family’s driver to pick up after I get you ho."
"Sorry to trouble you." Renee, appearing uncomfortable, furrowed her brows slightly and said weakly.
Feeling sorry for her, the girl patted her back gently and said, "Sister Renee, are you alright? I don’t mind, but I just saw you weren’t feeling well and thought it best you’d go ho early. Ugh, those unruly guys just go crazy when drunk, and you’re already in this state. If they force you to drink more, I’m afraid your stomach won’t take it."
"I’m fine."
Adam saw that she really had quite a bit to drink and looked very uncomfortable. He hesitated for a mont but then said, "Alright, I’ll take you ho."
He didn’t want to have any more ties with Renee, but they did grow up together after all, and they are friends even if they’re not involved.
Renee hadn’t expected him to suddenly relent, her eyes flickered, "It’s okay, you don’t need to give a ride, I can go ho myself."
Adam had already decided to take her ho and then head to Olivia’s place, feeling no psychological burden. He picked up the car keys and said, "You’re already this drunk, how will you get ho? Do you really want to go to the Karaoke Bar with them for another round? Co on, I’ll take you."
Renee was a smart woman, so after a little courteous hesitation, she let it go and didn’t insist anymore, knowing further refusal would be pretentious rather than demure. She picked up her bag and gratefully looked at Adam, "Thank you."
Adam didn’t respond, walking ahead.
Renee kept close by his side, and the two walked shoulder to shoulder out the door...
At the table, Austin hadn’t left yet. With his drunken eyes, he’d seen the whole scene and heard the conversation between the three of them. His gaze toward Renee beca complicated.
The two quickly disappeared from his sight, and he picked up the glass next to him, drinking the entire contents in one gulp.
Just as he was about to pour another glass, soone grabbed his hand. The young girl who had been sitting next to Renee started scolding him, "What’s wrong with you? Do you think you’re a wine vat or a chamber pot, drinking so much you want to die?"
"Mind your business, give the glass back!"
The young girl hid her hands behind her back, refusing to return it, "No way, if you have the guts, drink from the bottle!"
Austin’s eyes were bloodshot as he glared at her, and indeed, he picked up the bottle to drink. The girl was startled and quickly stopped him, and the two started bickering again...
