Austin Harper gritted his teeth, glaring at Adam Sinclair with a look that suggested he might punch him at any moment. "Sister Renee didn’t say anything! I figured it out myself! You took her to the Apartment and then disappeared, leaving her to be harassed by the boss. Are you even a man? How could you do this to Sister Renee!"
"I took her to the Apartment? So, all this time, you didn’t even bother to check what really happened that day? Just came running to stand up for her?" Adam Sinclair’s eyes darkened slightly.
Austin Harper was taken aback, sensing there might be more to what Adam was saying, but he didn’t want to delve deeper. "What do you mean, are you trying to say that it was Sister Renee who took you to the Apartment? Impossible! Sister Renee isn’t that kind of woman. Even if you don’t want to take responsibility, you don’t need to say such things to insult her! It only makes me look down on you more!"
Seeing that Austin wasn’t willing to listen, Adam didn’t want to explain further, so he bypassed Austin and opened the car door, "If you truly care for her, then keep her away from me."
Austin, still seething with anger, grabbed the car door and followed after him, "So, you’re saying you’re not going to take responsibility for Sister Renee?"
"She doesn’t need me to take responsibility, and she’s not the kind of person you think she is."
Adam was speaking the truth, but the truth fell on deaf ears, sounding particularly harsh. Austin angrily grabbed Adam’s shoulder, trying to stop him from getting into the car, "All you say is because you don’t want to take responsibility! You really have opened my eyes! Is your girlfriend that good? I don’t see how she’s better than Sister Renee! Sister Renee likes you so much, and you did something to let her down. On what grounds do you refuse to take responsibility, acting like you’re the victim here! I’ve tolerated you long enough; I’ll ask one more time, will you take responsibility or not!"
Adam had been repeatedly pulled by him, his chest blazing with anger. He was just too refined to resort to physical actions.
His handsome face darkened, he once again brushed off Austin’s hand, stood upright, and said, "I’ll say it one last time, I won’t be responsible, and there’s no need to be. She’s not who you imagine her to be; she’s not as fragile as you think. I’ve given her all I can, the rest I can’t give, and I won’t! If you really care about her, keep her away from me; I’ve run out of patience with her. Tell her to stop bothering me!"
"You bastard!" Veins popped on Austin’s forehead; he raised his arm and swung a punch.
This time, Adam didn’t let himself get easily hit; he caught Austin’s wrist with the speed of lightning, his gaze was cold, "Out of friendship, I won’t hold that punch against you. It doesn’t mean I will keep indulging you."
"I’m the one indulging!" Austin’s eyes reddened as he growled, "I used to like her, but you said you liked her, so because we’re friends, I stepped aside for you. Now, I like her, but she likes you. I still stepped aside, wanting to fulfill you two. And what did you do? You vile bastard! You take advantage of being drunk, act like a hooligan, and then don’t admit it, pushing all the blame onto a woman. You even want to accuse her of being the one who took the initiative. How did she take the initiative? You’re over six feet tall; did she force herself on you?"
Did she force herself on you.
Adam’s temples throbbed twice, his handsome face darkened. "What happened that day, you can ask her. It’s your matter if you want to believe her; it has nothing to do with me!"
