Now reading: Chapter 258: Lu Ke’s Close-Fitting Soft Armor from Live Strong in the Wilderness, a Fantasy novel by Copper Teeth.

After returning and resting for less than ten minutes, Xu Yi began installing the beams, then started burying the wooden stakes into the dug pits, covering them firmly with soil.

By a bit after 4 PM, a deer enclosure of more than thirty square ters was ready. The only thing left was the roof.

However, Xu Yi and Lu Ke didn’t plan to work on it today.

After driving the two reindeer into the enclosure, Xu Yi closed the gate.

"This is much safer. Even if wild beasts co at night, they won’t be able to harm them," Lu Ke said confidently, looking at the enclosure like a small prison.

"Yeah, I didn’t expect we’d be this efficient. I thought we’d work until past ten tonight," Xu Yi said with so pride, patting the dirt off his body.

This efficiency was indeed very high.

"Yes, it might have sothing to do with our growing strength." Lu Ke smiled slightly and headed towards the stilt house.

The hides have all been dried and can be stored now.

Of course, her focus now was on the Black Scale Lion’s hide, which needed to be cut out and turned into soft armor.

This was ticulous work, so Lu Ke dedicated her ti to it next.

Xu Yi processed the leopard at brought back at noon and put it in the pottery pot to stew.

Then he took down the dried shiitake mushrooms.

The shiitake mushrooms were about 80% dry. A half-day more would suffice. So Xu Yi threw a handful into the pot to stew with the leopard at.

After finishing these tasks, Xu Yi went to chop wood.

They had sawed down four large trees for the deer enclosure; their branches would be the source of firewood for Xu Yi and Lu Ke.

Their firewood reserves were low, and they needed to stock up.

Once Xu Yi chopped all the branches, he could peel the tree bark the next day for use as the deer enclosure’s roof.

Xu Yi only realized how sore he was all over when it was ti for dinner.

After all, they did a lot of work today, and at a very quick pace.

Lu Ke, anwhile, finished cutting the Black Scale Lion’s hide and could sew it together in the evening.

"Xu Yi, these dried shiitake mushrooms sll incredible. The stew tastes amazing," Lu Ke said, her eyes lighting up after sipping the soup, feeling it tasted even better than the wild mushroom and chicken stew from the other day.

"It is delicious. I didn’t expect the leopard at to be this good. Let’s gather more next ti," Xu Yi said, drinking two more mouthfuls.

After a hearty al, they got busy by the fire.

Xu Yi started weaving bamboo strips to make so bamboo baskets, which could store items like dried shiitake mushrooms and mango slices.

Lu Ke took the cut pieces of Black Scale Lion’s hide and began sewing.

Both were focused on their own tasks without speaking, making it particularly quiet.

"Okay, I’m done," Lu Ke said, standing up at ten o’clock.

She stretched and moved around a bit, having sewn continuously for three to four hours.

"I’ll go try it on," Lu Ke said, taking the armor upstairs.

Xu Yi glanced at Lu Ke, feeling a bit eager.

A few minutes later, Lu Ke appeared in front of Xu Yi.

Still in her pants and jacket, Xu Yi was montarily stunned when he saw her.

"Doesn’t it fit?" Xu Yi asked.

"It fits," Lu Ke said, taking off her jacket to reveal the Black Scale Armor underneath.

Because they were indoors on the first floor, the audience couldn’t see her fully.

Gazing at the Black Scale Armor clinging to Lu Ke’s skin, Xu Yi couldn’t help swallowing.

It was a wild sense of beauty. With Lu Ke’s design, the neck was also protected, and there was a hood.

"It looks great. I think the audience might not handle it well, so maybe you should put your jacket back on," Xu Yi suggested, feeling he couldn’t quite restrain himself unless Lu Ke covered up.

"Okay." Lu Ke blushed, promptly putting her jacket back on. She had a feeling it might not be quite right, which was why she originally ca down with her jacket on.

Xu Yi turned around to avoid revealing anything to Lu Ke.

"Alright," Lu Ke said, initially thinking it was normal to wear the Black Scale Hide Armor over her underwear, not expecting Xu Yi’s reaction.

"Does it restrict movent?" Xu Yi asked, concerned that it looked very form-fitting.

"No, it’s quite flexible and doesn’t hinder movent at all," Lu Ke reassured him, demonstrating so combat moves smoothly.

"Moreover, it’s breathable and warm. I think I should make a set for you too; it’s very comfortable," Lu Ke added, her expectations surpassed by the Black Scale Armor.

"Next ti, for sure," Xu Yi agreed, determined not to let another Black Scale Lion get away.

"There are so leftovers. Along with the Forest Rat’s hide, I can make you an arm guard first," Lu Ke suggested, noting that having protection on one arm would make Xu Yi much safer.

Especially the left arm, as Xu Yi sotis used it to block, she could design it to also protect the neck.

Xu Yi nodded, considering Lu Ke’s Black Scale Armor covered her fully; it was alright for the rest to be used for himself.

Thereafter, Lu Ke asured Xu Yi with a thin hemp rope, and cut out pieces from the Forest Rat’s hide and leftover Black Scale Hide to sew protective gear for Xu Yi.

"Lu Ke, you should get to sleep; it’s eleven already," Xu Yi said, having woven two baskets and stopping to rest.

"I’ll go soon. I’m almost done; it’s simple and will be finished in half an hour," Lu Ke assured, her hands swiftly working the needle.

Xu Yi nodded, since Lu Ke was so insistent, he decided not to rush her.

He went upstairs for two mangoes, sliced them, and placed them on a plate to have a snack before bed.

Lu Ke was working, so she couldn’t eat.

However, Xu Yi fed her so with a toothpick. The act felt natural for them, without anything seeming amiss.

Half an hour later, Lu Ke tied the final knot, signaling completion.

"Here, try it on," Lu Ke said, handing the armor to Xu Yi with eager anticipation in her eyes.

"Alright." Xu Yi nodded, then took off his own jacket and slipped on the arm guard.

"This collar just hooks around like this," Lu Ke said, helping Xu Yi adjust it.

Xu Yi looked at his arm, feeling it fit snugly but not tightly, very comfortably.

"Your craftsmanship is amazing. With this, I feel my combat prowess will greatly improve. I almost wish for a beast to co by now so I can test it out," Xu Yi said, clenching his left fist.

His neck, left shoulder, and entire left arm were protected by the soft armor.

"Roar!"

A tily roar sounded in the darkness.
