Chapter 1615: Chapter 113 Hidden Danger

The bright yellow flas stood out starkly amidst the lush greenery of the distant jungle.

Even without scanning with Spiritual Sense, Wang Ba was certain that he hadn’t seen wrong.

“Cannons, these are cannons.”

He could clearly see the smoke drifting through the jungle in the distance, each flash of fla accompanied by the thunderous roar of the cannon fire.

In this Little Cang World, he had encountered sothing that only existed in mories, things that seed completely unrelated. At that mont, the wonder and complexity in Wang Ba’s heart were truly indescribable.

“Cannons?”

Zhao Jie was sowhat puzzled.

Wang Ba shook his head without explaining, and with a flash, he had already appeared in the air above the distant battlefield.

Zhao Jie quickly followed after seeing this.

Soon afterward, the faintly acrid gray-yellow smoke rising from below caused him to wrinkle his brow slightly. With a gentle sweep of his hand, he dispersed it.

He then glanced downward and quickly grasped the situation with just a few looks.

It was evidently a battlefield.

The coastline marked the boundary—on the shore were several massive, ferocious Totem Beasts accompanied by a group of Tupi Continent Wildern wielding spears and shouting loudly.

On the sea just beyond the shore, however, was a fleet bearing noticeable characteristics of Daosheng Continent.

At this mont, they were arrayed along the coastline in the shape of a long serpent.

Each ship was equipped with imposing cast-iron tubes, and under the operation of soldiers standing beside them, they emitted blazing flashes accompanied by explosions as deafening as Thunder Seeds and volus of acrid smoke.

With each deafening roar, a burning red iron ball would lazily shoot out and land on the Totem Beasts in the coastal jungle.

The iron balls blasted bloodied craters into the bodies of the Totem Beasts.

However, the beasts healed quickly. Although they howled in agony incessantly, they recovered in no ti, their aura slightly diminished.

The Wildern’s counterattacks were tily as well: one bone spear after another was hurled, slicing through the air with a sharp whistle toward the ships offshore. Instantly, several shield-carrying, poorly defended crew mbers were struck and exploded, their blood splattering across the deck.

Witnessing this scene, Zhao Jie was montarily shocked:

“Are there survivors from Daosheng Continent? But why are they fighting against those from Tupi Continent?”

Not far away, Wang Ba swept his gaze over the cast-iron tubes on the ships, his eyes revealing a look of “just as I thought.”

“They really are cannons… what they’re filled with should be gunpowder.”

“The crew mbers on these ships are all mortals.”

He pondered silently.

The battle below quickly ca to an end.

The firepower of the fleet was ultimately too overwhelming. While it was unable to deliver fatal blows to the Wildern and Totem Beasts directly, it devastated their will to fight. Left with no choice, they retreated southward, abandoning two Totem Beasts whose auras had beco critically weak.

The crew aboard the fleet then cautiously dropped anchor and disembarked. Several crew mbers carried thick iron cages and carefully captured the two Totem Beasts.

They returned to the ships happily, the entire process proficient and swift, clearly not their first ti.

This fleet wasted no ti lingering and promptly sailed southwest.

When Wang Ba saw the wisps of white steam rising from the bows of these ships, despite having already anticipated it vaguely, his gaze still grew complicated.

At that mont, he felt as though he was witnessing history.

“Tan Yue, this…”

Zhao Jie flew to Wang Ba’s side, hesitating as he looked at the departing fleet below.

“Let’s first investigate more closely.”

Wang Ba snapped out of his thoughts, without hesitation, and once more extended the Yin God Power into the mortals aboard the fleet.

A few breaths later, he opened his eyes without any surprise:

“These people are indeed descendants of Daosheng Continent cultivators, but they seem to all be cultivators with very low cultivation bases.”

Zhao Jie, hearing this, wasn’t particularly surprised.

The Great Flood calamity. When the three continents foresaw the disaster would never end, they joined forces to migrate east.

Back then, anyone with significant strength wouldn’t have stayed here.

Mortals, trying to survive in floods that even cultivators feared like the plague, were almost impossible. Only low-class cultivators, if they were lucky enough to drift and wander at sea, might have endured until the floodwaters receded.

The crew aboard this fleet seed to have done just that.

Zhao Jie then asked curiously:

“So, are there any cultivators left on Daosheng Continent now?”

Wang Ba recalled the sparse information gleaned from these crew mbers and shook his head slightly:

“No, according to their mories, Daosheng Continent, like Tupi Continent, has been entirely disconnected from Spiritual Energy. The term ‘cultivator’ has even beco a legend, barely believed by anyone.”

“Although many remnants of the old era, such as Magic Tools, Talismans, and puppets, were unearthed on Daosheng Continent, they are almost useless without Spiritual Energy. Well, not entirely. They found preliminary formulations for gunpowder and many chanical research notes left behind by cultivators of Daosheng Continent, so they inherited so of that legacy.”

This explained the perplexity Wang Ba felt upon seeing the cannons.

Gunpowder from past life was said to have originated from Taoist alchemy. That Daosheng Continent’s cultivators researched this and passed it on to later generations did make sense.

Moreover, Daosheng Continent’s cultivators were known for their expertise in creating spiritual chanisms and puppets; after losing Spiritual Energy, their descendants rely inherited and shifted their focus in research. Unexpected, but entirely reasonable.

“The Age of Dharma Decline, this is indeed the Age of Dharma Decline.”

Although Zhao Jie didn’t quite understand what Wang Ba ant by gunpowder and chanics, his gaze still carried a tinge of complexity and lancholy.

Daosheng Continent and Tupi Continent were like this, so Xituo Continent likely wasn’t much better either.
