Lord Of Puppets Chapter 22 – The end of peace

[Mayor’s house.]

"WHAT DO YOU AN YOU CANNOT FIND HIM!?" – shouted the furious nobleman.

"I-it’s just like I said, mister mayor." – said the guard.

"We looked around, but we couldn’t find anything."

"We asked in the guild, the people at the gate guard duty."

"Nobody had seen the young master after he had left the town."

"The last person that saw the young master was an adventurer who had guided the young master alongside the two escorts to the dungeon."

"The man was already arrested for the questioning, but so far.... Well.... He said that he guided the group as intended and just walked away per the deal."

"Interrogate that bastard! Torture him if you have to!" – shouted the furious mayor.

"Do that and I will fucking arrest you on the spot. Don’t fucking tempt ." – said the guild master as he entered the mayor’s room.

"!"

"YOU!" - shouted the mayor as he spotted the guild master.

"WHERE THE HELL IS MY SON?!"

"..."

"Stop. Yelling. This is an order... Unless you want to do it by force." – said the guild master as he clenched his fist, alarming the mayor, who instantly backed away.

"..."

"We looked inside the dungeon."

"The monsters inside the dungeon had been hunted down, aning that your son was inside the dungeon."

"But, besides that, there is nothing."

"..."

"You are not saying that my son had died in the dungeon?!" – said the scared mayor.

"But that is impossible! I gave him two escorts that were supposed to keep him safe at all tis!"

"This is why I’m here." – said the guild master.

"I want to know if those ’two escort’ that you have given your son were really ’safe’ and stuff."

"Since right now? It kind of looks like the escort could be possible for your son’s disappearance."

"So instead of instantly pointing fingers at or the innocent guy, maybe think first about the people that had disappeared, like for example the two bodyguards you assigned?"

(Tch.)

(First thing in the morning, I find that the guards suddenly barge into the guild, arrest the man, and then I find out that it was the mayor’s orders.) – though extrely annoyed guild master.

(For crying out loud.... IT WAS THE FUCKING FIRST DAY!)

(Not second, not third, but a fucking first day!)

*Sigh*

"Okay. Let’s go over the situation really quick, before you do sothing stupid." – said the guild master before he sat down on the chair provided by the maid.

"The dungeon was extrely weak, and it was tad."

"The monsters there are weak, and an average guard should have no problem dealing with them."

"So, with that in mind, there should have been no accident AT ALL if your son went in with the TWO HAND PICKED BODY GUARDS "YOU" PERSONALLY ASSIGNED, RIGHT?"

"..."

The mayor looked away, trying not to make eye contact.

"HEY! DON’T YOU DARE LOOK AWAY! THIS IS ABOUT YOUR SON’S SAFETY!" – shouted the guild master, causing the mayor to look back at the man.

"..."

"So.... What do we know about the two guards?"

[Soti later.]

(Well, that ain’t a good start.... The bastard knew right next to nothing about those guards.) – though the guild master, as he left the mayor’s mansion grounds, started walking through the street.

(Even the guy in charge of security knows little to nothing about these guys.)

(Apparently, these two were your average guards. Nothing special, nothing extrely bad, just an average person.)

(There is nothing that sticks out about them at all....)

(For crying out loud.... There is a good chance that the whole thing is the mayor’s or his son’s fault.)

(Both of them are pretty big pieces of shit and stuff.... So, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they did sothing nasty without anybody knowing, and now there is sobody who wants revenge.... Or maybe ransom?)

(.... Would revenge be really it though?)

(These guys are stupid like hell, so I doubt that I wouldn’t be find out their dirty secrets..... Ransom possibility sounds far more plausible.)

(.... And the annoying problem for is the fact that the dungeon IS the cri scene.... Nice.... Just FUCKING nice!)

(Last ti when the weird and unknown trouble popped up like that.... The sa way how Arthur and his party completely disappeared.)

(...Even after 5 months, there was no news or any discoveries related to the case, the sa applies to the Adam... Am I just overthinking it?)

"Either way, there will be a lot of annoying work to do because of that idiotic mayor."

[anwhile: Dungeon.]

(Right leg.... Moving..... Sowhat good... But not good enough. Too stiff.... Am I missing sothing? Did I make an error without noticing it yet?)

After completely wiping out the mayor’s son’s party, the dungeon master returned to its experints.... As well as the dungeon developing.

The dungeon master was currently on high alert after the last attack.

The invaders, for over 5 months, have never dared to attack the "dungeon master room".

But now?

The attack has happened.

The dungeon master realized that the ti of peace was about to end, if not had already ended with the last attack.

Dungeon master wasn’t sure "why" they attacked.

It had a few ideas, but it couldn’t confirm any of them.

But it knew one thing.

However, it was ready.

For over 5 months, it wasn’t just focusing on its research, no. It was also developing the dungeon and creating an army.

Every monster that had undergone the "dungeon manifestation" had not left the dungeon grounds at all, if anything, all of these monsters were stored INSIDE the dungeon, waiting for the right ti to co.

(So invaders ca recently.... But they didn’t co to attack "that" room.... Why?)

(The fake was already replaced....)

(Do they know? Or do they not know?)

(I can’t let my guard down.)

(There is a good chance that the predators are coming.) – though the dungeon master, as it started working on its leg.

(Unknown if they know or not.... But if they do.... They will attack "that" room again....)
