Ariel Morris tried hard to steady her emotions, calming her panicked and fearful heart. She reached out to touch the bathroom wall, standing firmly against it.
She reached out and rubbed her eyes vigorously, trying to clear her vision.
"Ariel!"
Accompanied by anxious footsteps, Arlo Seys’ worried voice sounded at the bathroom door. Ariel’s hand paused on her eyes, her movents stopped for a mont.
Arlo rushed into the bathroom, paused at the door, and saw the shattered cup on the ground. His brow furrowed montarily before stepping over to Ariel, who was standing against the wall.
"Ariel, what’s wrong? Why are you covering your eyes?" Arlo’s voice carried a hint of panic.
Ariel didn’t open her eyes, her fingers still covering her vision. She gave a faint smile, her tone relaxed yet slow: "I’m fine, Arlo. I just accidentally got toothpaste in my eyes while brushing my teeth earlier. Now I can’t open them. Can you help wash them with so water?"
"Okay." Arlo nodded.
Arlo carefully helped Ariel to the faucet, cupped so water for her to wash her eyes, and then gently dried them with a towel.
A glimr of light returned to Ariel’s vision, and gradually, the light began to clear. Ariel knew her eyesight was starting to recover.
To avoid worrying those around her and not to be seen as abnormal, Ariel smiled tenderly and said to Arlo in a slightly coquettish tone, "Arlo, my eyes still hurt a bit. Could you carry out of the bathroom?"
Arlo murmured an assent, bent slightly, and picked up Ariel to carry her out of the bathroom.
Ariel’s body was a bit stiff, her expression sowhat heavy as well. Her hands were wrapped around Arlo’s neck, her eyes lightly closed.
Arlo placed Ariel on the bed and, unable to resist his concern, asked, "Ariel, are your eyes feeling any better now?"
Ariel slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was clear again. She sighed in relief and softly smiled at the concerned Arlo. "Arlo, I’m fine now. I just had my eyes closed for a minute to feel what it’s like to be blind. It’s terrible. I don’t like it! There are so many beautiful things in the world and you, so handso and good-looking. If I couldn’t see any of it, life would truly be unbearable."
"What nonsense are you talking about!" Arlo placed his hand on Ariel’s hair, his brow furrowing slightly. "Even if you couldn’t see, you still have ! What do you an by unbearable?! Being alive is better than anything because while you’re alive, there’s always the possibility of a turnaround and hope for a different outco."
Ariel’s expression softened, and she remained silent for a long while, biting her lip and struggling internally before she slowly raised her eyes to look at Arlo. She moved her lips, then clenched them shut, ultimately not daring to confess the problems with her body.
Arlo’s brows furrowed tightly, seeing that she wanted to speak but was hesitating. In a low voice, he spoke: "Ariel, do you have sothing to tell ? Just speak directly. We are partners for life now; what can’t be said? In this world, the first person you should think of and rely on is when sothing happens. Eight years ago, we were lovers. Today, eight years later, we have registered and set a wedding date. So, what’s there that you can’t tell ?"
Ariel’s fingers clenched into fists as she sat on the bed, raising her eyes to et Arlo’s concerned gaze. Her thin lips moved slightly as she softly began, "Arlo, my bod—"
A sudden, abrupt ringing of a phone interrupted Ariel’s words.
Unmoved by the phone call displayed on the bed, Arlo’s gaze remained fixed on Ariel, firmly awaiting what she would say next.
