Ariel Morris felt unnerved by the way Arlo Seys’ gaze bore into her, as if he could see right through her, stirring a sense of muffled turmoil and unease in her heart.
"Arlo, you should take the call. We can talk later," Ariel Morris said, her voice sowhat subdued, conceding under Arlo Seys’ intense eyes.
Since it had co to this point, she truly didn’t want to hide it anymore.
Arlo was right; she could rely on him. Even if she were to die, at least she’d have so unforgettable last monts with him.
"Alright."
Arlo Seys’ voice was sowhat taut. He glanced at Ariel Morris before answering the call.
"Hello," Arlo Seys greeted to the other end of the line.
Ariel Morris lifted her eyes to observe Arlo Seys, noting how his expression grew even more strained after answering the call, his gaze montarily brushing her with a deeper intensity.
Ariel Morris looked towards Arlo Seys with a puzzled expression.
"Alright, I’ll co over later." Arlo Seys spoke into the phone with his lips pressed into a thin line, then hung up after his calm reply.
"Arlo, who was it?" Ariel Morris asked, looking up at Arlo Seys.
Arlo Seys paused for a mont, rolling up his sleeves, his voice crisp and decisive, "The police station, Susan Saxton attempted suicide." Saying this, Arlo Seys grabbed his suit jacket from the bed and made for the door.
"Arlo, are you heading to the police station now?" Ariel Morris inquired.
Arlo Seys nodded without turning back, "Ariel, I’m going to the police station to check on things, I’ll be back soon."
"Alright." For so reason, Ariel Morris suddenly sighed in relief.
At least for now, she had evaded the pressure of whether or not to reveal things to Arlo.
Arlo Seys exited the room, lips pressed tight, his face darkened, eyes cold.
Susan Saxton attempted suicide to see him, only to tell him sothing—what could it possibly be?
How was this related to Ariel? What could Ariel be hiding from him?
Arlo Seys’ gaze was unfathomably deep as he strode out of the door.
After Arlo Seys left, Ariel Morris also changed her clothes and went out, dialing Doctor Chapman’s number on her phone as she walked.
After scheduling the appointnt over the phone, Ariel Morris used a ride-hailing app to call a taxi to the hospital.
Having made an appointnt, Ariel Morris headed straight to Doctor Chapman’s specialist clinic in the hospital for a checkup.
Thanks to the connection previously established through the Seys Family’s acquaintance with the hospital director, all examination results were expedited and handed over to Doctor Chapman.
Doctor Chapman looked at the results of Ariel Morris’ blood tests, his expression intense and serious: "Miss Morris, you must be admitted for treatnt imdiately! Your chronic virus has erupted!"
Ariel Morris trembled slightly, "Apart from surgery, is there no alternative?"
Doctor Chapman nodded, "You must undergo surgery!"
"Then—what are the odds of the surgery?" Ariel Morris bit her lip, asking solemnly.
Doctor Chapman hesitated before answering truthfully, "Less than thirty percent."
Ariel Morris felt her fingertips tremble, even her voice carried a hint of quiver, "Does that an I have a seventy percent chance of dying on the operating table?"
Doctor Chapman nodded gravely, "Miss Morris, if you don’t undergo surgery, the longer it drags on, the less your chances of treatnt. Eventually, what would it matter if you’d be willing to accept treatnt? By then it would already be too late." Doctor Chapman paused, then continued, "For the sake of your life, I recomnd Miss Morris to undergo surgery imdiately!"
As Ariel Morris’ body swayed unsteadily for a mont, Doctor Chapman picked up the phone and solemnly stated, "I will inform the hospital director of this matter, and the best dical team will be assembled to treat Miss Morris."
