Chapter 1253: ???’s mumbling
With the thought of using the Authority Of Severance to sever the limitations imposed on the Thought Conception, Anthony immediately got to work, not bothering to wait at all.
He immediately activated the Authority Of Severance, and threads instantly spread out from his body in all directions, linking to everything and everyone he had ever encountered. Anthony’s focus zeroed in on the Thought Conception thread, the thread expanding and branching into various other threads as well. Anthony’s eyes rested on the Limitation imposed by ??? himself.
Funnily enough, the thread of this particular Limitation was black in color, as though it was giving Anthony some sort of warning or making him aware of some bad omen. Anthony simply smiled. He wasn’t bothered that the thread was colored black. If he wasn’t able to sever the thread, then that was that; he would experience no backlash. At the very least, that was what he believed based on everything he currently knew about the Authority Of Severance.
His hand moved toward the thread as he pulled it like a string. The moment he did… nothing happened. The thread didn’t even budge, as though it were some sort of immovable wall that not even the slightest force could influence. It remained pletely still, utterly unaffected by Anthony’s attempt, as if mocking the very concept of severance itself.
Anthony couldn’t help but immediately sigh, the anticipation that had been building within him suddenly crumbling like a flimsy sandcastle. His imagination of severing the limitations and ascending to the peak in a single step with effortless ease proved to be nothing but fantasies. Reality had once again reminded him that there were boundaries that couldn’t simply be crossed through wishful thinking alone.
‘??? is truly more powerful than The Unbound,’ Anthony thought to himself. ‘Or rather, this has nothing to do with The Unbound. The Authority Of Severance is simply too weak to influence ???. It’s like expecting a small ant to carry a planet on its back.’
As Anthony was about to give up, another thought found its way into his mind; the Special Privilege.
What if he used the Special Privilege that The Unbound had granted him to remove the limitation instead, since the Authority Of Severance had failed?
Anthony was confident that this would work. After all, The Unbound himself had said he would do anything to the best of his abilities. Although there was no guarantee that The Unbound could actually acplish something like this, it was still worth trying.
If it worked, there would be no enemy he wouldn’t be able to face. There would be nothing holding him back anymore. He would be able to perceive all the secrets of Old, even confront beings that seemed to have existed since the very beginning, beings like the First Human.
Anthony remembered that when he met ??? for the first time, the being had talked about a few people being just a single step below him but still being unable to ascend to his level. Anthony couldn’t help but wonder if the First Human had reached that particular level. After all, that guy had scanned the Universe in less than a second. Such an absurd feat still lingered vividly within Anthony’s mind.
‘Urgh… I’m thinking about the First Human again,’ Anthony sighed as he shook his head. ‘Let’s focus on the matters at hand,’ Anthony concluded.
Anthony was really tempted to use the Special Privilege on this. Even if, after using the Special Privilege, he encountered someone who was simply more powerful than him, through the Thought Conception he could simply summon himself from the future to handle his current enemies. It was entirely possible, as the Thought Conception could practically do anything.
Anthony weighed his options, whether to use it or not to use it. He closed his eyes for a moment in silence, allowing every possibility to flow through his mind one after another. A few minutes passed before he slowly opened them again.
He wouldn’t use it.
He had made his decision.
He sighed and shoved the matter of the Special Privilege and the Thought Conception to the side for now, but he hadn’t given up on the matter. Maybe one day, when he finally used the Special Privilege and woke The Unbound up for a different reason, whenever The Unbound was done helping him with the original task at hand, he would shamelessly ask for the being’s help regarding this matter as well. There was certainly no harm in asking, especially when the worst oute would simply be a refusal.
How did the saying go? A closed mouth is a closed destiny, right?
Although he didn’t have a destiny, still…
As Anthony was about to forget about the matter entirely, the system chimed yet again.
[??? says you had a nice idea]
[??? says he hadn’t expected you to think about using the Authority Of Severance to sever the mental limitations imposed on Thought Conception]
[??? is tempted to just remove the limitations himself after seeing you try so hard]
Anthony read through the text in less than a second. A smile immediately broke across his lips the moment he read the last line. He knew that ??? was a being who sometimes made decisions on the spot without putting much thought into them. He could only hope that things would flow in his favor this time.
[??? shakes his head and says that wouldn’t be fun]
Anthony immediately deflated like a punctured bubble. Another one of his expectations had been dashed.
[??? says that it would be more fun when his laziest child woke up and heard your shameless request about lifting the limitation]
[??? says he wants to see The Unbound try]
[??? wonders if The Unbound would succeed]
[??? says not to mind his mumbling, that he is leaving right now in order to leave you to your own thoughts and devices]
Anthony immediately sighed as the text before him vanished. He had been too optimistic, as things had seemed to be going his way far too easily from the very beginning.
Anthony wouldn’t lie. As a shameless guy, he had genuinely thought that ??? might reward him with another gift simply because of his remarkable idea. However, at the end of the day, he wasn’t a baby who would be rewarded with candy for every single effort he made.
