1114 A Week's Effort
"Wells, on your right!"
Whoosh!
Whilst Valyr and the other two were entangled in their own fights against the orcs, the young man noticed another orc appear near Wells, seemingly aiming for a sneak attack.
"Got it!" Heeding the warning ahead of ti, Wells doubled down on his current opponent, lunging forward with his spear as he ducked down to avoid the attack that was coming for him.
"Haah!" Seeing Wells move in response to his warning, Valyr wielded his spear with all of the strength he could muster, using it as a bat to fling his current opponent away.
Then, making use of the montum he generated, he closed the gap between him and the orc that planned on ambush Wells, directly piercing the spear through its head.
Puchi!
With how much force was contained behind Valyr's spear, it went without saying that the orc was deprived of its life before it could even comprehend what was going on, causing the orcs fighting against Edward and Wells to pale in fear.
With a great chunk of their morale lost thanks to how the young man handled the situation, it did not take long for the three to finish taking care of their remaining opponents.
Though, with how massive the disparity in strength was between Valyr and the orcs he was fighting, the young man only made a few moves here and there, rely stalling the orcs that fought him for the two to kill later.
Whoosh!
With a final thrust acting as the killing blow, Edward let out a wide sigh of relief as all of the orcs that previously ganged up on them had now fallen to the ground.
Not wanting to give the orcs the opportunity of their current exhaustion, the three imdiately left the battlefield after that, with Valyr following behind both Edward and Wells as a safety asure.
"If we knew bringing you along for our missions would make it this easy, we would've done so earlier." While he was in the midst of catching breath, Wells looked back at the young man and flashed a thankful grin.
"You could definitely say that again." Edward nodded in agreent, giving Valyr a thankful smile of his own. "Thanks again, Valyr. Because of you, we're now only one mission away from becoming Sergeants."
"Not a problem," said Valyr as he smiled back at them. "Though, you two should really take the ti to increase your levels first. After all, a higher level of strength allows you to take on higher-ranked missions."
"Do you really think we aren't already doing that?" Wells wryly smiled back at him. "After we got wind of the missions you've been doing this past week, we imdiately decided to splurge a few of our rit points to rent so ti at an Experience Pit!"
At those words, Valyr raised his eyes in curiosity. "How many levels were you two able to get then?"
Hearing that question, both Valyr and Edward had proud looks on their faces as they simultaneously replied, "Peak of Rank 3!"
Being left at a slight loss for words after that, the young man soon flashed a smile back at them as they arrived at the barracks a few minutes later.
Once there, they imdiately appeared in front of Gerald, who seed to be more than ready to greet them the mont they arrived.
"Should've expected this outco as long as you're included," said Gerald with a faint chuckle as he briefly glanced at Valyr. "I presu the mission has been completed?"
At those words, Wells nodded in response, prompting all three of them to bring out their identification tokens before giving them to him.
With a mission docunt and a proof of completion being passed to the man after that, Gerald did not take long to verify the mission's completion, imdiately infusing bits of energy into both Edward and Wells' identification tokens.
As for Valyr's identification token, he rely infuse a strand of energy into it before tossing it back to him. "Since the difficulty of this mission is at the level of 3-star rcenaries, you won't be gaining any points for promotion from this. However, you'd still get the rewards from completing it."
"I understand." Valyr nodded in response as he received his identification token back from the man, only for him to glance at the two beside him who had looks of excitent on their faces.
"Even though I'm the one confirming the completion of all your missions so far, it still astounds ," said Gerald to Valyr after so ti as he faintly shook his head. "To think that in just a week, you rose through the ranks of the rcenary path to beco a 6-star rcenary."
"Is it really that astounding? You did see all of the missions I've taken, after all," Valyr smiled as he responded back, only to think back to the routine he'd fallen into in the past week.
Though Valyr thought to himself that the past week was possibly the most monotonous routine he'd fallen into, he still could not deny the fact that it was because of that monotony that he was able to beco a 6-star rcenary within a week.
After the two-star rcenary mission he took, Valyr went ahead and took up the hardest 5-star rcenary mission available, which gave him six tis more promotion points than the previous one.
With how each promotion needed one to accumulate 10 points beforehand, it was no surprise that Valyr was able to beco a 1-star rcenary the mont he completed his next mission.
In fact, the second mission also allowed him to beco a 2-star rcenary.
However, when it ca to the points being allocated to his promotion to a 3-star rcenary, only a single promotion point had been allocated, which was mostly due to how the promotion points worked.
For example, one had 20 promotion points under their na. With 10 of those points, one would then be promoted to the next rank.
Though, for the 10 promotion points that remained, the effectiveness of those points would instead be halved, causing one to only be halfway towards reaching the next rank.
With Valyr having a total of 35 promotion points as a novice rcenary, 10 of them allowed him to beco a 1-star rcenary, while the remaining 20 allowed him to step onto the next rank due to the loss in efficacy.
Then, with the halving of efficacy being rounded down, the two points that remained after his promotion to 2-star rcenary halved in efficacy even more, leaving the young man with one point.
Naturally, with him now know the chanics behind the promotion points, Valyr aid himself with his third mission, going with an 8-star rcenary mission that yielded the sa amount of promotion points as the one he took before.
After that, he took on one more mission after his promotion to 4-star rcenary, which was also the sa mission that allowed him to beco a 6-star rcenary within a week.
As for its difficulty level?
Naturally, it was the hardest mission made for 10-star rcenaries. Hope you enjoyed the chapter! If you did, please vote for the novel with your power stones and golden tickets! I'd highly appreciate it!
