Chapter 785: Chapter 611: Quartet
The Heavenly Gods were hidden, and the rain poured like a flood. The motorcycle tires carved clear tracks on the wet, muddy soil, and the four steel monsters were like Floating Boats that sailed through the tsunami waves, as well as brushes wildly painting on the earth.
In a dilapidated house with a ruined roof, there was a green beast, almost completely made of bright green Crystals, hiding from the rain inside. It looked half human and half canine, about the size of a child, with a tail that seed to have ford in one piece from Crystal, wearing tattered human clothes, squinting and napping.
From the appearance alone, it was clear that it was the lowest ranking “grass” among the green disasters.
Besides eating humans, green disasters would also devour each other. Although the strength of a green beast was connected to its previous life, like a Holy Sanctuary Mage who had just transford into a green beast, its power would definitely far surpass other green beasts, but the darker the green beast’s color, the more people and beasts it had consud—the green beast could strengthen itself and even acquire Extraordinary Abilities through devouring—naturally, this also ant it was stronger.
From light to dark, they could roughly be categorized into “grass,” “Ink Beast,” “Deep Sea,” and “Black Tide” levels. The appearance of a Black Tide level green beast could trigger a widespread green disaster, at minimum destroying several sects, and at worst overthrowing half of Senluo. It had been many years since one had appeared. Normally, even if a Deep Sea level green beast appeared, it would be hunted by nearby sects. The green beasts currently existing in Senluo were mostly “grass” or “Ink Beasts.”
As implied by the na, grass green beasts were at the bottom of the food chain, existing only as “producers” who could beco food for others. If the grass was transford from a mage or an adult warrior, it could rapidly grow into an Ink Beast and even gather other Ink Beasts to howl territorially and harm towns.
But a grass of a child’s size didn’t even dare to approach other green beasts, fearing it would beco prey and could only wander alone in the wilderness, even needing to hide from the rain.
Boom—
Even amidst the noisy rain sounding like beads falling on a jade plate, the screeching noise of tires braking was distinctly sharp. The beast, always in a light sleep, was startled awake and quickly seized the Crystal knife beside it, baring its sharp teeth and claws, then pressed its limbs to the ground as its entire body lit up with Crystals, and its paws ignited with a bit of green fla—it had scared off other green beasts several tis with this posture.
The ruined house had no door, and the large stone blocking the entrance was kicked apart as four humans entered. They wore black raincoats, still streaming with rain. The space inside the house was large, but as soon as they entered, they seed to occupy all the space like mountains. Their footsteps echoed loudly, more than one had steel-soled shoes, and they stepped solidly on the wet ground, the sound of splashing water like so form of lant.
As they walked, glimpses of the shirts under their raincoats—varied in design but all finely made of silk—appeared. So wore tailcoats with gold edges and white bases as if going to an important banquet, others in white shirts and black coats, clean and reserved yet unignorable.
Clean, handso.
They were so clean, so handso!
Wandering in the wilderness for a long ti, it understood an important Law: anything clean and beautiful was either too weak to withstand a single blow or too strong for it to withstand!
These people who could walk through the Rain Curtain surely weren’t the forr. No doubt, they were those formidable beings known as “mages!”
It instinctively wanted to flee, but they blocked the only exit, and other walls were too high to jump out. It could only retreat to a corner and curl up but still clutched the Crystal knife tightly, glaring at them with bared teeth.
“What day is it today?”
“Anyway, it’s August, don’t know what date.”
“Make way, I’m letting Alice out.”
“With no sun and it’s raining, why are you letting him out?”
“Alice likes getting rained on, especially loves the sensation of raindrops hitting the eyeballs.”
“Oh, amazing, as soone who needs to close their eyes for eye drops to seep in, I’m even a bit envious… Igula, I’ve been in a bad mood recently. Do you have ti now to give another Miracle?”
“Scram.”
Amid the casual conversation, a fire quickly rose, dispelling the chill brought by the rainstorm.
Snap. A golden, rounded Yuanchan suddenly appeared out of nowhere, giving it a fright.
As the Yuanchan flew around the room, its gaze tightly followed its trajectory. When the Yuanchan approached, it had a hard ti resisting the urge to pounce, but the Yuanchan seed to know it was holding back, swaying provocatively in front of it until the person with the pleasant voice beckoned, and the Yuanchan flew back.
Its attention was quickly taken off the Yuanchan—the humans took out canned food, broke them open, placed them on the fire to heat up, the intense sll of oily food made it involuntarily gulp.
By now, it also realized these people were different from others and seed to have no intention of killing it. However, it still didn’t dare move carelessly or attempt to escape and remained huddled in the corner.
But when they began eating the canned food, it couldn’t restrain its hunger anymore, quietly releasing the Crystal knife in its mouth, lowered its head and bit a suitably sized piece of rock, ticulously chewing and eating it with its teeth.
Yet the sound of its Crystal teeth grinding against the stone, even with the background noise of the rainstorm, was still extrely crisp and audible. Noticing their movents montarily pause, and even so gazes steering towards it, it quickly spat out the rock and bit the Crystal knife again.
But soon, the chewing sound resud in the ruined house, as if it had just been its imagination. At that mont, the person wearing the Black Crow mask stood up and walked towards its corner, instantly making its limbs tense up, emitting a low threatening sound.
However, Black Crow stopped three steps away from it, sat on the ground, turned away from the others, and lifted that terrifying mask.
Originally, it could hardly resist blasting the outermost crystal (explode furiously), but the mont it saw the face under the Black Crow’s mask, it widened its eyes, and all its wariness vanished.
The crystals all over its body rapidly retracted as it crouched down, no longer biting the crystal knife, staring unblinkingly at Black Crow, its crystal tail swaying back and forth.
As Black Crow began eating the canned food, it tentatively approached. Finding Black Crow seemingly indifferent, it slowly moved beside him, retracted its crystal claws, and gently rubbed Black Crow’s calf with its dull palms once, twice, thrice.
After a while, it grew bolder, its small head burrowing into Black Crow’s embrace, looking up longingly at the canned food in Black Crow’s hand, making desiring whining sounds, its tail shaking rapidly.
As Black Crow seed close to finishing the canned food, it grew increasingly expectant, as if it had already seen Black Crow leaving the remaining scraps for it.
However, it then saw Black Crow extend a finger, scraping out every bit of grease inside the can and putting it into his mouth until flipping the can over would yield no drippings. Even so, Black Crow did not leave the can behind but instead crushed it in his palm into a tal ball.
It gaped at the tal ball until Black Crow flicked it, piercing through the house’s wall, and only then did it retreat to the corner, nervously clenching the crystal knife.
Black Crow put his mask back on and returned to the group. As the others finished eating and the torrential rain outdoors had lessened, the uninvited guests donned their feathered garnts and exited the ruins, continuing their unknown journey.
Yuanchan specifically flew in front of it, circling twice, before disappearing with a snap.
Boom…
It was only long after the motorcycle’s roaring faded that it slowly crept out, still not daring to approach the still-burning campfire. Instead, it threw stones toward it, testing for potential traps in the crudest way.
Once it was sure of safety, it dashed over, prying open the discarded cans and found, to its surprise, ample food remained, and all the can lids were already pulled open, allowing it to simply lower its head to eat everything clean.
Wonderful!
It faintly sensed that this must have been intentionally left by those three individuals, feeling a strong sense of gratitude, yet felt a hint of annoyance toward the stingy Black Crow.
It wasted nothing, first consuming the food inside, then gnawing the can as if chewing sugar cane, spitting out the indigestible bits only when its mouth was full, then continuing with the next treat.

As the rain gradually lessened, Ash and his group reached a particularly rugged stretch. They switched the motorcycles to “Mountain Mode,” the tires inflating as the speed decreased but the ride becoming significantly smoother.
“Tamasi, I’m sorry,” Ash suddenly said.
Black Crow glanced at him, “Hmm?”
“I know the Green Beasts are humanity’s natural enemies, and I know pitying them serves no purpose,” Ash kept his eyes forward. “But I can’t help thinking that the Green Beast might have transford from a child… Sorry.”
Igula and Harvey both gave Black Crow a glance; Black Crow remained silent for a while, then said, “You don’t have to apologize to .”
“But you aren’t fond of—”
“Ash,” Igula spoke leisurely, “The Black Crow, who loathes evil, did not instantly punch that Green Beast pup into pulp the mont he saw it, and even tolerated its continued existence, is already showing the greatest kindness he could muster.”
Ash disregarded Igula’s added descriptions, scratching his head, “Ah? Tamasi you don’t mind? That’s great, after all, not only did I leave so, but even Igula and Harvey left a little—”
“Let be clear,” Harvey spoke lazily, “I rely guessed you would do this and followed suit; I don’t feel a bit of sympathy for the creature, it was entirely to cater to your feelings.”
Ash nodded understandingly; he never held any moral expectations for the Necromancer and then looked toward the Swindler.
Igula’s mouth twitched. Whether it was a child transford into a monster or a real human child, he wouldn’t feel a twinge of pity, but…
He could only admit, “I felt a slight pang of compassion, and I now greatly regret feeling as if I did sothing aningless.”
Even with the Swindler saying so, the Cult Leader still smiled with uplifted lips, chuckling lightly, “Hehe.”
What’s there to laugh about! Igula had to take a deep breath to soothe the inexplicable resentnt in his heart.
“Tamasi, since you don’t dislike it, why did you scare it?” Ash asked, “You’re not a bad person.”
“But I must be a bad person,” Black Crow said.
