REINA
Shane leaned in like he was about to receive state secrets. "Oh my god, she’s in love."
"Shut up."
"She’s totally in love," he said to Tessa, kicking his legs excitedly. "Look at her eyes! That’s the ’I’d burn my life for this man’ look."
Tessa chuckled softly. "Yeah. I see it. Plus, have you seen her car? She’s really living life with daddy Italian war god’s money."
I set the mug down. "I’m not—ugh. Fine. Maybe a little. But it’s not like that."
"Not like what?" Shane asked, grinning from ear to ear.
"Not... transactional. He’s not just giving things because he can. He just—he’s stubborn. He wants to take care of ."
Shane fake-gasped. "A man who’s rich and emotionally available? Oh my god, are you sure he’s real?"
"He’s real," I said quietly, smiling despite myself.
"See?" Shane clapped his hands. "That’s the look. The soft eyes. The dreamy sigh. Tessa, I swear, I’m going to cry. Our little Reina’s finally found her villain prince."
"Villain?" I echoed.
"Baby, he radiates nace. You just know he’s the type who owns multiple guns but also probably reads poetry when no one’s looking."
Tessa giggled. "He did have that vibe, yeah." she grinned, biting her lips. "Or so Shane said. I swear, I didn’t see him."
"Thank you!" Shane threw his hands up triumphantly. "Validation!"
I shook my head. "You two are unbelievable."
He grinned, eyes glinting with mischief. "Unbelievable? Please. I’m the best part of your life, baby. Now tell —" He leaned forward, voice dropping low and scandalous. "—how was it? Last night. Don’t you dare pretend nothing happened."
Tessa groaned. "Shane, no."
"Yes!" he said, ignoring her. "Give details. Was he gentle? Rough? Did he—"
"Shane!" I cut in, mortified.
"What! We’re adults here!"
"You’re a nace."
He gasped again, clutching his chest. "You wound ! You can’t just drop a man that fine into my social orbit and expect not to ask questions."
Before I could respond, the door suddenly opened, and Tripp walked in, tall and calm and dressed like a man who woke up early just to ruin Shane’s fun.
"Please tell you’re not harassing her again," he said, giving Shane a look.
"Harassing?" Shane looked personally offended. "I’m bonding."
"Sure," Tripp said flatly. "That’s what we’re calling it now."
He walked over to Tessa to kiss her cheek hello, then turned to Shane. "You promised you’d be nice this ti."
"I am nice!" Shane protested.
Tripp crossed his arms. "You just asked Reina if her man is rough in bed."
Tessa burst into laughter. "Oh my God."
I hid my face in my hands. "Kill now."
Tripp sighed. "Co on, baby boy. Ti to give Reina so peace."
"What? No! I’m helping her process her emotions!" Shane clung to the couch like a cat.
Tripp didn’t even argue. He just bent down, grabbed Shane by the waist, and hauled him up like he weighed nothing.
"PUT DOWN!" Shane yelled, kicking the air. "You can’t silence the truth, Tripp! She’s in love with a mafia daddy and I support her..."
"Goodbye, Shane," Tripp said calmly, carrying him down the hall.
"TRAITOR!" Shane scread over his shoulder at Tessa and . "You’ll thank when you’re a bridesmaid!"
The bedroom door slamd.
Tessa snorted, covering her mouth. "God, they’re insane."
"Certified," I said, exhaling a laugh.
From down the hall ca a loud thump, followed by a squeal.
"TRIPP! MY HAIR! NOT THE HAIR!"
We both lost it, laughing so hard I nearly spilled my coffee.
"Fuck! Trippy, you can’t just shove your tongue in my ass like that without a warning." Shane’s screams echoed through the wall and there ca a shattering sound.
It didn’t take long before he started moaning, so loud that I had to pretend I didn’t hear it.
"Tripp, you might want to stop fucking him too hard, or I swear you guys are going to scare Reina away!" Tess yelled after them after the moaning seed to have increased a little.
She smiled, sipping on her coffee. She didn’t seem bothered about what they were doing at all and I wondered how many tis she had witnessed this that it didn’t seem to faze her anymore.
She turned to look at , waving her hand in the general direction of the hallway. "Please don’t pay them any attention. They’ll soon stop fooling around, I promise."
I swallowed thickly, nothing my head and let out a small smile. "You guys seem awfully close."
She simply shrugged. "After you left, they are the reason why I didn’t get bored to death. I love them, I really do."
Tessa leaned back, shaking her head. "Sotis I forget how much chaos Shane brings into my life. But I swear I love him."
"Yeah, but you’d miss him if he were gone."
"True," she admitted with a smile. "He’s... the noise that keeps things from getting too quiet."
I nodded, watching steam curl from my mug. "He’s good for that."
Silence settled for a beat, soft and easy.
Then Tessa gave a look, that knowing, gentle one only a friend could pull off. "He’s really got you, huh?"
I blinked. "Who?"
I knew exactly what she was talking about but pretended to be confused, thinking that would make her drop the conversation. But who was I kidding? Tess never backed down from anything. Especially not anything that had to do with .
She smirked. "You know who."
I smiled, shy but unable to help it. "Yeah. Maybe he does."
"So..." She winked at , giving that sly smile that only her could pulled off. "Are you going to tell about your sugar daddy or should I beg Shane to force it out of you?"
