Kakashi waited in Fury's office for the two won who were going to Asgard and outerspace with him for the mission. Fury had given them minimal ti to pack up and co back.
Kakashi kept his supplies with him in storage scrolls so he was always packed up. Fury wanted to find out where he kept his supplies since he did not know the existence of storage scrolls.
Natasha and Maria Hill returned after a quick hour to pack.
Their small packs bulged with weapons, ammunition, recording equipnt to record what they witness in space, and a few clothes.
Kakashi noted their stiff shoulders and taut expressions, 'They're stressed. No matter how many difficult missions they've run, a trip to outer space with no backup, facing unknown aliens, so maybe hostile, maybe even cannibalistic would rattle anyone.'
"Packed up? I thought won were supposed to take a lot of ti to pack" Kakashi asked, his voice light, trying to ease their tension.
Fury's eye twitched with irritation. "Hound, not the ti."
Clearly, he did not like the joke at the start of such an important mission. Kakashi fell silent at the man's glare at him.
Fury stood up from his seat as he looked at all three of them, "Agents, show the universe that Earth and humans are not a planet to be trifled with. This mission is critical for the safety and progress of Earth. We need to know who else is out there with us, their intentions, their capabilities. If possible, bring back or learn about technology we can replicate here."
"The Asgardians have ships powered by magic...magic! We need to understand that. And if you can, make connections with friendly species, assess their tech, their sapience, their powers. Earth's stepping onto a bigger stage, and we can't afford to be caught off guard."
Fury ended his speech with a final sentence. "This isn't just about capturing a trickster god, it's about securing Earth's place in the cosmos."
Kakashi fought the urge to clap at this speech. Everyone nodded though.
Maria glanced at Kakashi and asked curiously,"Huh, how are we going to Asgard? Are they sending a ship to pick us up?"
Kakashi's voice was casual, "I'll be your ride."
Before Natasha or Maria could question, he placed a hand on each of their shoulders.
*Kamui.*
With a swirl, the office vanished, replaced by a void of floating blocks, a fleeting glimpse of his dinsional pocket, then the golden splendor of Asgard's palace gardens materialized.
The scenere was filled with golden spires towers flora glowing ethereally and the Asgard Palace.
Maria's eyes widened and she was in awe at the beautiful scenery of another planet.
'This is… unreal. It's like it's out of a fantasy book.'
Kakashi's thoughts were on sothing else. 'I'll have a chance to mark places on other planets during the trip to teleport there using Kamui in the future. Who knows when teleporting to those places might co in handy.'
'Well, I'd better not tell him my teleportation range stretches that far. He'd have running missions on every planet. He already has running missions to Asgard. I can't have him sending missions to a dozen more planets. And if he finds about the shadow clones jutsu, he would have running missions in all the planets at the sa ti.' Kakashi shuddered at that thoughts.
Kakashi thoughts were interuppeted as
Natasha's gaze was locked onto him.
Kakashi tilted his head at her "What now?" Natasha asked a question as if it was a normal question.
"Are you even human?"
Kakashi blinked, caught off guard.
"Really, you look at this beautiful palace, the stunning scenery, and the advanced technology of Asgard, and your first thought is that I'm not even human?" he asked, his tone incredulous.
Natasha answered as if he was the one who was an idiot. "Considering you just teleported between planets, yes, I have that question. We're going to et aliens out there, who's to say we're not standing with one?" Her eyes narrowed at him.
Kakashi swore that he might have sweated a little behind his mask. 'She doesn't even know how right she is. I'm not just from another planet but a whole different reality.'
"Fury had my blood checked, and I'm positive it ca out as human," Kakashi said, his voice dry.
Natasha's expression showed doubt, "Is that so? For a second, I thought you wear a mask because it hides your alien features. You wouldn't mind showing what's underneath to calm my worries, would you?"
Kakashi rolled his eyes, "Yes, I do mind. And let's go, we have a mission."
Natasha walked ahead toward the palace, her hips swaying deliberately as if to intice Kakashi.
Kakashi.looked at her hips without a change in expression behind his mask.
'She'd fit right in the seduction shinobi corps in a shinobi village. With her beauty and skills, she might've even seduced a Kage.'
His thoughts turned serious. 'We're on another mission far from Earth, and she's still hung up on unmasking . Is this Fury's orders, or is she just too stubborn to quit? Either way, this mission's gonna be annoying.'
Another man might give in to urges with a baddie like Natasha. But Kakashi read smut novels for a reason, they keep his urges in check.
If he gave in, He would be just another pathetic shinobi. But he was Kakashi Hatake of the Sharingan for a reason. He was above that nonsense.
Maria stayed silent as she watched the two bicker. These two agents were the best Shield had. She had seen Agent Romanoff kill n by a dozen. She had seen her break n and find information that no one else could.
And the less said about Hound or Kakashi, the better it was. The one thing that she could agree with Natasha wa sthat the man was alien or beyond what a human should be.
She shook her head as she groaned, 'Why did the director have to select for the mission. Agent Barton would have been a better fit or even Agent Coulson. I'd rather be filing reports than stuck with these two.'
Then her thoughts took a pause before continuing, 'Not that I'm not curious about what's under that mask of his.'
