While Natasha was receiving the leader's "personal instruction" on one side—

Skye had already completed a full-body examination within the technology departnt of the island base.

After reviewing the test results, the head of the technology departnt hesitated slightly as he looked at the report in his hands.

Their deepest level of analysis had revealed that, on the surface, the genes of this nineteen-year-old girl appeared no different from those of an ordinary person.

But in reality, there seed to be deeply hidden recessive genes concealed within her genetic code.

Those recessive genes were hidden extrely deeply and possessed remarkable stability.

So stable that under normal circumstances, they would likely never activate at all. And even if they did activate, he had no idea what kind of changes they would bring to Skye.

That imdiately sparked imnse interest within him.

Matthew had already discussed this issue with him before.

According to Matthew, many humans across the world possessed similar recessive genes. Without external stimulation, those genes could remain dormant for decades without ever activating.

These people were called Inhumans.

They carried inherited recessive genetic codes left behind from the cruel experints conducted by another civilization race in an extrely ancient era.

The departnt head and his team had spent an entire night performing calculations and attempting to decipher the genetic formulas within those genes, only to discover they had made little progress.

Clearly, that civilization's genetic technology far surpassed humanity's current level.

The gap was so vast it amounted to complete technological domination.

So he drew a tube of Skye's blood and prepared to study it thoroughly.

If they could decipher the formulas hidden within those genetic codes, it might provide enormous assistance toward future improvents of the Super Soldier Gene Serum.

The current gene serum was no longer the original first-generation side-effect-free version developed at the beginning.

It had continuously undergone optimization and iteration over ti.

Especially after the soldiers of the two warbands experienced various brutal training regins and continuously strengthened their life forms, their genetic codes had also gradually begun optimizing themselves.

That optimization was evolution.

At regular intervals, the technology departnt would draw blood from these soldiers and study their evolved genetic codes.

They would then incorporate those discoveries back into improving the serum itself.

Compared to the first generation, after several rounds of iteration, the current serum's enhancent effects had beco both more stable and more powerful.

Genetic technology was the core baseline that Matthew had established for their scientific endeavors from the very beginning. It was both a revolution and one of the most critical keys for humanity's complete rise and eventual ability to catch up to other civilizations.

Because of this, Matthew had instructed Karla to devote a significant portion of resources toward this field of technology.

It could be said that if this technology were ever exposed to the outside world, it would trigger global madness, worship, and greed.

It was simply too powerful. And too comprehensive.

It enhanced physical abilities, allowing people to begin with stable strength exceeding ten tons. It strengthened immunity, accelerated tabolism, rendered users largely resistant to most diseases and viruses in the world, greatly extended lifespan, and allowed people to maintain youth throughout eighty to ninety percent of their lives.

No one could possibly resist such temptation.

Every social class would be the sa.

If Matthew released this technology for sale right now, he would beco the richest person in the world within an extrely short ti.

The kind no one else could even compare to.

The ultimate machine for harvesting wealth.

Of course, this technology was among the highest classified secrets.

Anyone involved in its research or developnt would be placed under strict monitoring and protection.

And if anyone dared leak it, they would face brutal punishnt.

Though in reality, nobody would be foolish enough to do such a thing.

What would be the point? Anyone granted access to this technology already received the highest level of treatnt.

Not only could they personally receive injections themselves—

their families could as well in the future.

Outside of research and working hours, they had plenty of ti and money to enjoy life.

More importantly, everyone understood just how solid the foundation of Matthew's empire already was.

So solid that everyone knew the mont this industrial power truly erupted in the future, it would shake the world.

That kind of grand ambition was enough to make people excited just thinking about it.

And they themselves were participants in it.

They were not serving a single individual, but all of humanity. They were laying the foundation for the advancent of civilization itself.

Their nas were destined to be recorded in history.

So betray all of that for a tiny bit of short-term profit? The price was far too great.

Not only would they lose everything, but their families would also be stripped of all the benefits they were ant to receive.

As a result, none of them even had the thought of betrayal.

Everyone was fully aware of this fact, including Matthew. Nevertheless, lina still instituted the tightest classification level purely as a precautionary asure. Rules were rules, and a regular army had to behave like a regular army.

The departnt head had originally wanted to keep Skye behind for further long-term research into the recessive genes within her body.

Unfortunately for him, she was taken away.

Roscoe and Jean escorted her out.

One mber from each warband had been assigned to carry out Matthew's mission this ti.

Because it was a covert operation, two warband soldiers were already more than enough.

In addition, supporting resources and several peripheral soldier units had also been mobilized to cooperate with the mission.

Roscoe's relationship with Matthew was extrely close, but her personality was highly competitive. She had never once acted arrogantly because of her connection to him.

Instead, she fully integrated herself into the team, treating herself as nothing more than an ordinary recruit. She trained, studied, and learned alongside all the other soldiers.

Even when Natasha was appointed commander of the Raven Warband, Roscoe hadn't shown the slightest objection.

Because she knew Natasha was even more outstanding than herself.

She didn't feel jealousy.

Instead, she used it as motivation to push herself forward.

After receiving the serum, everyone started from the sa baseline. Roscoe might have beco talented, but everyone else had as well. And those from the Red Room possessed years of accumulated skills and training far beyond hers.

As for hard work? Inside the base, hard work alone wasn't anything special.

Because while she was working hard, everyone else was working just as hard.

It wasn't as though she had forty-eight hundred hours in a single day.

There was no such thing as magically multiplying effort by two hundred tis.

So Roscoe blended perfectly into the team, quietly training and studying while steadily keeping pace without falling behind.

And Matthew understood very well that this mindset of hers was the correct one.

He found it deeply reassuring.

Which was why he never gave her any special treatnt.

For this mission, Natasha and Reacher had each personally selected one candidate.

Natasha chose Roscoe.

Reacher chose Jean.

The two of them boarded a Ghost transport aircraft with Skye and headed toward their destination: San Juan, Puerto Rico.

They departed in the evening and arrived the next morning at nine o'clock, disembarking from the aircraft.

A squad sent by the local regional manager was already waiting for them.

Including Roscoe's group, a total of nineteen people set out in five vehicles toward their destination: Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The area was sparsely populated. Due to historical reasons, many of the buildings there had long since been abandoned.

Among them stood an old theater that had been deserted for many years.

The Old Ponce de León Theater.

And because the local regional manager had already arranged everything in advance the previous day, the group's movents attracted no attention at all as they proceeded toward their target.
