The three of them walked at an unhurried pace, their steps filled with clear purpose and moving smoothly forward.

"It's hard to imagine what kind of power could build such an enormous underground city beneath an actual city."

The blue-skinned woman wore a serious expression as she spoke, carefully examining the mysterious patterns engraved along the walls while walking.

"There's also a very strange power here, trying to control my consciousness," the burly man continued after her.

"Raven, Victor, perhaps we've discovered so prehistoric ruins," the old man said lightly.

"Erik, what does this have to do with that child you observed?" Raven asked, puzzled.

"Because this is where that child's power erupted." The old man known as Erik—the renowned Magneto—stopped in his tracks.

Magneto's most capable subordinates, Mystique Raven and Sabretooth Victor, also halted.

In front of them was a circular stone chamber.

A row of electrical lamps, clearly installed by human hands, illuminated the room brightly. The ground had been cleaned thoroughly, showing obvious signs that people had been here recently.

The three entered the chamber.

Their eyes imdiately fell upon the waist-high circular stone pillar at the center.

Magneto's gaze swept across the indentation on top of the pillar. He reached out and placed a hand against it, slowly closing his eyes.

A mont later, he opened them again and frowned.

"It's extrely concealed. The internal structure is incredibly complex. Any external interference would trigger a domino effect that could collapse not only this chamber, but possibly the entire underground city."

"There should have been a key here to activate this place."

"But soone already took it away."

Mystique glanced at the empty groove atop the pillar, then recalled the guards they had defeated above.

"It was those people."

"Their origins are mysterious. Their organization has extrely strong cohesion and discipline."

"They're tough bastards. I like torturing tough bastards." At this, Sabretooth flexed his hand in irritation. Cruel and bloodthirsty by nature, he loved killing these so-called tough guys the most.

Unfortunately, their boss had struck first and knocked them all out.

"Was that child awakened here?"

Magneto's interest was completely piqued now.

He could clearly sense the residual energy fluctuations left behind here. They were extraordinarily powerful—so powerful that even after such a long ti, they still had not fully dissipated.

If that child had awakened mutant abilities because of this strange object—

Then the value of this place, or perhaps the entire underground city, was imasurable.

So valuable that it might even allow Magneto to complete his great cause within his lifeti.

Without the slightest hesitation, Magneto imdiately claid this place as his own. It would need to be studied thoroughly later—not just the thod of use, but also the people behind that organization. He wanted to know every piece of information.

As for whether that child was a mutant? Magneto would not doubt it at all. A sudden awakening of such powerful strength—what else could it be besides a mutant? Magneto simply had no knowledge of other superpowered groups outside mutants.

"Let's go question those people. Victor, I'll leave it to you in a mont. I want every piece of information I'm looking for dragged out of their mouths." Magneto looked toward Victor.

Victor said nothing, simply revealing a cruel smile.

The three turned and left, returning to the stage of the old theater.

The entire theater was filled with knocked-out soldiers everywhere—this was also intentional on Magneto's part.

Magneto gently extended his hand. All forty soldiers scattered throughout the theater floated up and landed in front of the stage. At the sa ti, steel rebar was forcibly compressed and twisted thin by his power, turning into ropes that bound the soldiers' hands and feet.

Threads of electricity flashed across all the soldiers, jolting them awake imdiately.

After waking, the soldiers did not panic. Instead, they subconsciously struggled and tried to speak. But Magneto elegantly raised a finger to his lips. "Shh!"

Imdiately after, a surge of electricity caused the soldiers' mouths to close on their own, rendering them unable to make a sound. Only their captain was left able to speak.

"I like tough guys, kids, but you should be smarter about this. Life only cos once."

Before coming here, Magneto had already interrogated them once. But these soldiers were stubborn to the core and refused to talk. Since he still needed to explore the underground city, Magneto had rely knocked them unconscious instead.

That was why Raven had remarked earlier that these soldiers possessed unusually strong cohesion.

A group of tough guys.

"Life only cos once, yes. But if I betray the Leader just to keep living, I would only feel ashad. It would stain the oath of loyalty I once swore."

The stubbled captain, instead of showing fear at the threat, revealed a smile—an attitude of disdain toward death.

He had once been nothing more than a down-and-out veteran. After leaving the military, he couldn't find work for a long ti. His family had no inco. Things had beco so desperate that his wife had nearly been forced to sell her body just to feed their children and keep them alive.

Then, at his lowest point, he had joined the organization by chance.

From that mont onward, his life had completely changed.

He had food to eat. He earned money. The benefits were generous.

He had even been given a chance to walk a greater path.

He could clearly feel the thriving vitality within the organization.

How could he possibly betray the Leader?

Sotis people were easy to satisfy.

Whether for his family, or for the honor and loyalty gradually built within him, he would never allow himself to betray them.

Not even a little.

Magneto admired people like this. And he was curious about the person these n served.

"You may not be afraid. But what about them? If you refuse to speak, I'll make you watch as your comrades have their bones torn out one by one, their hearts ripped from their chests, and their heads severed. Do you really wish to see that?"

Magneto's voice was not loud, but it was extrely vivid, enough to break through a person's defenses.

Unfortunately, Magneto did not realize these n were different.

Not just the captain—every single one of them had once been soone struggling at the bottom of society, lost, desperate, or hopeless.

The Leader had given them a second life.

He had given their families hope.

Even if they died, they believed the organization would avenge them and take care of their loved ones.

"Are you afraid?"

The captain did not answer Magneto. Instead, he turned his head and swept his gaze over his comrades beside him as he asked.

No one spoke, but the expression of facing death with equanimity on every face was the answer.

Magneto's expression darkened slightly.

He looked toward Sabretooth.

Sabretooth grinned viciously and imdiately selected one unlucky soldier, dragging him in front of the captain. He grabbed the young man—who looked no older than twenty—by the hair and forced him close.

His other hand rested on the soldier's arm.

Madness and excitent colored his voice.

"Looks like tonight is going to be very long. The rest of the ti belongs to us now."

The captain clenched his teeth and stared into the eyes of his young comrade. His eyes gradually reddened, yet he still refused to speak.

Seeing this, Sabretooth prepared to exert his strength and rip the soldier's arm off alive.

However—
