"Creating shockwaves? Wow… that's unbelievable." Neagley knew exactly what that ant.
Shockwaves. The na sounded ordinary enough, but if used properly, once unleashed, the resulting earthquakes and destructive power would far surpass anything produced by their super soldiers.
The only weakness was the user's fragile body.
Without a sufficiently powerful physique, the stronger the shockwaves beca, the more severe the damage to the user's own body.
Use it too many tis, and the body would eventually collapse altogether.
Fortunately, that weakness hardly counted as a problem anymore.
Especially after she asked the departnt head again and confird that Skye could most likely receive the Super Soldier Gene Serum injection safely.
At that point, Neagley stopped worrying entirely.
"What about Jessica?" Roscoe was already long accustod to Neagley's dramatic behavior and instead asked about Jessica.
"She's training too, though mainly maintaining her condition for now. Once the serum compatibility reaches the standard, she can receive the injection."
"She's too excited to sleep and was also worried about Skye, so she sent to ask about her."
Neagley explained briefly.
"Oh, right. There's sothing else."
As soon as she ntioned this matter, Neagley's expression imdiately turned serious.
"Soone may have noticed the disturbance caused when Skye awakened in San Juan."
Roscoe frowned upon hearing that. "Didn't we already impose an information lockdown beforehand? Nobody should've noticed anything."
The mont the mission had been confird, she had already mobilized resources to suppress all information.
The purpose had been to prevent outsiders from detecting any energy fluctuations caused by Skye's awakening.
Clearly, her concerns had been justified.
Under normal circumstances, nobody should have been able to detect it.
"Unfortunately, these weren't normal people."
"They were mutants."
"Mutants?"
"Mhm. We discovered traces of Magneto in San Juan."
Neagley looked through the glass window toward Skye, who was currently bouncing around energetically inside the training room.
"Magneto? How did he notice it?" Roscoe truly hadn't expected that and was visibly surprised. After all, no matter how she thought about it, mutants were the last thing she would've connected to this situation.
Even back when she had only been an ordinary police officer in a remote small town, she had heard Magneto's na countless tis.
Within the Pentagon's blacklist, he had remained in the top three for years.
A textbook terrorist leader.
Leading mutants around the world causing destruction wherever they went.
Still, Roscoe's dislike toward Magneto wasn't particularly strong.
Mainly because most of his targets were the Arican governnt or certain organizations.
He devoted himself to saving mutants and pursuing the cause of mutant supremacy.
Very rarely were ordinary civilians dragged into it.
Or rather, even when that happened, Magneto's old friend, Professor X, usually stopped him.
"No idea. Our people have a very hard ti tracking him." Neagley shook her head.
There was a reason both the Arican governnt and military feared Magneto so much.
It wasn't just because of his terrifying destructive power and reckless thods.
It was also because he appeared and vanished unpredictably, making him almost impossible to track.
And under his command was Mystique herself—the world's finest assassin.
The instant transformation ability allowed Mystique to perfectly imitate anyone. She was also proficient in counter-tracking, tracking, assassination, close combat, infiltration, and intrusion.
Even the Black Widows who had already graduated couldn't compare to her.
Not even Natasha.
As for Magneto himself, his control over magnetic fields spoke for itself. Just a simple description of the ability was enough to show how terrifying it was. rely controlling tal alone, he could effortlessly lift a 30,000-ton nuclear submarine into the air.
At the sa ti, he could generate powerful electromagnetic pulses capable of interfering with every known electronic device on Earth.
If he wanted to, military satellites and surveillance networks would all beco useless against him.
Most importantly, he had no family or loved ones to use as leverage.
A truly invincible man.
There was simply no good way to target him.
Matthew's side monitored the world to a degree no less than S.H.I.E.L.D. Because most of the resources and infrastructure S.H.I.E.L.D. possessed, Matthew also had access to.
Beyond that, Karla, Neagley, and the others had also been building their own global surveillance network.
Yet even that had little effect on Magneto.
That was why they only discovered his presence after he had already arrived in San Juan.
"I rember Magneto only caring about mutants," Roscoe said with a frown. Then she seed to realize sothing and looked at Neagley hesitantly. "Don't tell he mistook Skye for a mutant awakening her powers?"
"Very likely." Neagley confird her guess.
"What did Reacher say?"
"That place is important. Reacher believes the Inhumans could be very useful to us. Since that place can reliably awaken Inhumans, we can't abandon it."
Neagley appeared relaxed.
But her attitude was firm.
Right now, they were still in a hidden developnt phase.
Operating in the shadows made many things easier.
Many of the strategies Matthew had laid out were already being refined and carried out by Reacher, Neagley, and the others.
During this early phase, they needed to complete as many strategic objectives as possible and accumulate strength. Once the final stage of the plan began, secrecy would no longer matter.
Magneto was troubleso, yes. Ideally, both sides would stay out of each other's business.
But if conflict really broke out, then they would fight.
Any commotion caused would also help cover things up to the greatest extent possible. Nick Fury was already overwheld after discovering the problems inside S.H.I.E.L.D. itself.
He had neither the energy nor the ti to worry about this.
"We going over there?"
"Yeah. And we'll need to bring enough people."
They absolutely needed enough manpower to show proper respect to Magneto. Neagley wasn't ignorant.
She knew very well how comprehensive and absurd Magneto's abilities were.
There was no clear information on just how far he had developed those powers.
To be safe, they needed sufficient forces. If they brought too few people and lost, they would beco a complete joke.
So it was better to bring enough manpower from the start. If conflict really happened, they could simply gang up on Magneto and beat him down first.
Neagley also rembered that the people in the genetic technology departnt had already included mutant genes as one of their future research directions.
"Let's go. Everyone's already assembled. We leave imdiately."
"Alright."
…
San Juan at night carried a unique atmosphere.
Its architecture blended Spanish colonial style with Caribbean tropical influences, rich in color and intricate in detail.
The streets of the old city were narrow and winding, rising and falling with the terrain, filled with both historical weight and everyday life.
Elegant Spanish colonial buildings rged with the bold spirit of the Caribbean. Cobblestone streets connected colorful houses, ancient forts, and the blue sea, making every step feel like walking through a vividly painted oil painting.
But what neither the residents nor the tourists knew was that deep beneath the city, three uninvited guests had arrived.
Inside the dark, cramped underground city that resembled a labyrinth, three unfamiliar figures walked forward.
Three glow sticks floated around them, illuminating the otherwise pitch-black environnt.
At the center was an elderly man wearing armor-like clothing, a brown helt on his head, black cape draped behind him, and gloves covering his hands. His wrinkled face carried calmness and authority.
To his left was a slender blue-skinned woman with a graceful figure.
To his right stood an extrely tall and powerfully built man in ordinary clothes, his buzz cut and wild aura making him look especially imposing.
