Ti passed in the blink of an eye, and a month went by.
On this day, the sky churned with violent clouds. It was dark and overcast, rain pouring down in torrents, while waves surged wildly beyond the island.
And yet, under such harsh conditions—amid howling winds—a group of male and female soldiers clad in thick, cumberso armor ran along the periter of the island.
In their hands, they dragged thick chains, and at the other end of each chain was a heavy square tal block, carving long trenches into the sandy ground as it was pulled along.
Facing gale-force winds, carrying over a thousand kilograms of weight, and dragging heavy chained blocks in a long-distance sprint—this inhuman level of training was being carried out by Reacher and the others. Among them, there was one new face: Karla.
The training had been progressing steadily for a full month.
During this ti, Matthew's secretary, Karla, had also joined in.
Because she had been busy managing and handling Matthew's assets, she hadn't even had ti to receive the serum after its developnt was completed.
Fortunately, after a dedicated team was ford, she finally had the ti.
So she eagerly went to receive the injection and imdiately ca here to begin training alongside the others. As a forr military officer herself, Kalra was equally competitive.
Just as Matthew had anticipated, the training results for Reacher and the others were staggering. With support from the logistics team in terms of food, nutrition, dical care, and monitoring, the soldiers' growth was clearly visible.
For example, Gene Warren—the first super soldier to receive the injection.
His one-handed lifting strength increased from 1,200 pounds to 3,000 pounds, and his bench press rose from 2,000 pounds to 5,300 pounds.
It was a complete doubling.
The limits of super soldiers were not fixed.
On the contrary, they possessed trendous room for growth and potential—it simply hadn't been developed before, nor had there been a suitable systematic training thod.
Under extre high-pressure training conditions, muscles, internal organs, bones, and other parts of the body were repeatedly torn and healed. Once adapted, the body would naturally grow stronger—and at a very rapid rate.
A body enhanced by the serum far surpassed ordinary people in adaptability, self-healing ability, and stamina.
This ant that under extre high-pressure training, as long as they didn't die from it, they would recover quickly and adapt.
Ordinary people, on the other hand, were different. No matter how strong the logistical support, they simply couldn't withstand this kind of training.
Any exercise that exceeded their physical limits would easily cause damage to so part of the body. Recovery and healing would take at least thirty days. And even after recovery, the improvent would be minimal—essentially wasted effort.
Watching their bodies grow and improve before their very eyes left Reacher and the others addicted to the process. Everyone maintained high morale each day, diligently completing the increasingly demanding training routines.
By evening, even when their bodies were exhausted to the extre, they would still spend an hour or two reading—studying human anatomy and understanding how to apply force in the techniques of the Six Powers, using their own bodies as reference.
Without a doubt, this kind of life was fulfilling—and satisfying.
All of them had cast aside unnecessary distractions. Their entire focus was on training and learning.
This level of intense focus also allowed everyone to develop tacit understanding and trust with one another.
The atmosphere was positive and uplifting, and it even helped heal many of their past scars.
...
Raindrops hit like ink on everyone's hearts, and the atmospheric pressure dropped significantly under the storm, yet everyone remained silent and determined as they finished today's training
After finishing one full lap around the island with weights—
On the beach, everyone stood in place, their chests heaving violently as they gasped for breath. Their bodies were exhausted to the limit, yet their eyes remained bright.
Not a single hand loosened its grip on the thick chains.
They all knew that the morning training was over—but not entirely.
Sure enough, after thirty seconds of rest, Reacher's signature deep, resounding shout exploded in their ears like thunder.
"Everyone! Keep your weighted gear on! Return to base! Ti limit: 5 minutes!"
"Yes!!"
Everyone shouted in unison, tightening their grip on the chains. The crisp clanging of tal links, the scraping of heavy armor, and the grinding of tal blocks against the sand rang out in a chaotic symphony.
They moved forward with heavy steps, breaking into a full sprint toward the training base.
Both physically and ntally, they had reached their limits.
Yet what was most extre was that none of them dwelled on the exhaustion. Instead, they focused even more intently on the movent of every muscle during motion, thinking about how to exert force more smoothly and efficiently.
Five minutes later, Reacher and the more than one thousand soldiers finally returned to the training base.
Before entering, they had to lift their massive tal blocks and place them onto designated transport flatbeds.
After all, dragging them directly would damage both the training equipnt and the concrete ground.
It was, in a sense, a small training exercise beyond training itself.
Once back at the base, they reached one of the few rest periods of the day.
They removed their heavy weighted armor and placed it onto transport vehicles. The logistics team would take them to the warehouse for cleaning—otherwise, the sweat accumulated over a day would leave the armor sour and foul-slling.
Extre training was one thing, but enduring that kind of stench wasn't necessary.
After removing the equipnt, the soldiers returned to the dormitories, showered in the communal baths, and changed into clean clothes. However, their used clothes had to be washed by themselves.
This was a rule set by Reacher, lina, and the others.
After bathing, everyone imdiately headed to the cafeteria for lunch.
Following training, the soldiers were extrely hungry. In addition to specially prepared als, they also needed to consu nutritional supplents.
These were the sa type used by Matthew, though with significantly diluted nutritional ratios.
After consumption, the body could absorb them quickly.
After eating, they went to the rest area. The spacious hall could accommodate four to five thousand people. It was equipped with billiard tables, karaoke rooms, a bar, gaming machines, televisions, and other entertainnt facilities—though those were reserved for the evening.
There were also over a thousand massage beds customized to each individual's physical condition, and this was where they lay down at noon.
Once activated, the tal arms of the massage equipnt would automatically extend and begin massaging their bodies according to pre-set programs.
The half-hour massage session doubled as their nap ti, and they didn't need to worry about turning over.
The system was equipped with grasping arms that would automatically flip their bodies at designated tis according to the program.
With the entire process, the soldiers could relieve their fatigue to the greatest extent during the midday break.
As for the internal strain caused by training, that needed to heal naturally—because it was a necessary part of their growth.
Creating all of this for them was extrely costly. From the mont they were selected and injected with the serum—when their body shapes began to change—data had been recorded, and everything here was custom-made based on that data. This was not sothing an ordinary person could afford.
After the thirty-minute massage, everyone woke up feeling refreshed. They still had fifteen minutes of free ti remaining, and once that ended, the afternoon training would begin.
At that mont, Neagley approached Reacher.
"Hey, big guy."
