(Author’s POV)

"Elixir? What kind of elixir?" Alaric was quick to ask.

Iris cut in, "It’s a secret healing curative that I am going to prepare personally. For that, I need all the necessary components." Chris added, "I am not asking you to get it for my master. I will be the one getting it myself. But~ ..."

"You have a long list of ’buts’, Secretary Shadow. It’s like never ending," Dion comnted in a quirky tone. "Just get straight to the point. What do you want?"

"What I ask of you is that, can you all, protect the master in my absence?" Chris finally said it.

"Protect, the Vampire King? Us? Why? Why will we do that?" Dion asked, his brows wrinkled. "You sure have many vampire fellows who can do that, umm."

"Secretary Shadow, why do you want us, the werewolves, the Lycans, to play Mr. Larson’s bodyguards?" Alaric questioned bluntly.

"Because~ .... there is no one that can be trusted here," Chris stated.

"And we can be?" This one ca from Brave. "Don’t you think if you leave him in our hands, we would do sothing to him? What’s your reason for trusting us?"

"If you had wanted him to die, you wouldn’t have accepted my request yesterday. Nor either of you would have stepped in and saved him. And~ ... the most important reason is~ .... Lycan King Noah wants peace and quiet among all the beings. It goes without saying that you all have the sa belief. I can tell that. So~ .... Please~ .... I ask you all to look after the Vampire King until my return," Chris concluded, his voice calm and collected.

"Ohhooo~ .... what a great and heartfelt speech. But tell this, why aren’t you asking those colorful Elders of yours to safeguard him~ ...." Dion pointed towards the main door, though he was already aware of the answer.

Chris exhaled a heavy breath, "Young Alpha~ .... as I said earlier. No one can be trusted," He gestured for Iris to leave. She raised her right brow in defiance, but when Chris gave her another stern look, she went away.

"Apart from the local authorities, our most reliable people are investigating the crash accident as well," he started.

"Wasn’t it a malfunction?" Alaric queried with interest.

"On the front, it seed like that even to us, but our internal investigation is still going on, and so of the things indicated otherwise," Chris conveyed.

"So, there might be a possibility that any of the Vampire Elders are involved. Is that correct?" Brave asserted.

"Any or maybe~ .... each and every," Dion added as well.

Chris nodded, "That is why~ .... I can’t leave the master like that. If it weren’t necessary, I wouldn’t have asked sothing like this of you."

The room fell into another round of stillness. Chris remained rooted, his head a little bowed in their direction. After a few seconds, Alaric spoke, his words filled with authority, "We~ .... We need to discuss it amongst ourselves, Secretary Shadow."

"Sure~ ..." Chris said almost imdiately. He was glad they didn’t decline him outright.

"Hey, Ra-ra, what are you looking at so intently?" Yelena probed as she got up from the dining table.

Myra sighed, "Ummm, just received an email from my departnt. I have been given a derit point." She stated casually.

"What? Seriously? That Oswald Mitchell. He handed you a penalty for going to look after a patient? How can he be so cruel? I will talk to him," Yelena lashed out.

"No need to make a fuss, Yel. I knew this would happen," Myra spoke. These days, there have been way too many incidents where she has not attended her classes. So, this was kind of expected.

"But still~ .... Isn’t he going over the top with this? Wow~ .... Unbelievable," Yelena was flabbergasted.

As they reached Myra’s room, her phone chid in again. A ssage flashed on her display; it was from Amy. She licked her lips and clicked open the text, which read, "Myra~ .... I hope you rember the dinner promise for tomorrow, umm? et you at seven, Obsidian Space, The Crown Opulence."

Myra instantly recalled their last eting and how she and Yelena had promised to dine with Amy and Mr. Garcia. But tomorrow evening, the Yates seniors would be arriving in Esteria as well.

Yelena, on seeing Myra wasn’t not moving further, asked, "What happened? Did that hard ass send you another mail? I will surely rip his head off this ti."

"No~ .... It’s not hard ass~ ... I an, it’s not Prof. Mitchell but Mrs. Garcia’s ssage about the dinner eting tomorrow," Myra replied.

"Ohhh~ ... What about it?" Yelena inquired.

Myra hesitated but eventually said, "Uhhh~ .... the ti she gave is seven in the evening at the Obsidian Space restaurant."

"Ohk~ .... But why do you sound so tentative?" Yelena asked so more.

"I think I will have to postpone the dinner," Myra said.

"Whyyyy~ .... umm?" Yelena muttered.

Myra told her, "I said I would co with you to receive Mr. and Mrs. Yates senior at the airport. Wait~ ... let call her."

She was about to make a call, but Yelena interrupted, taking her phone away, "Only for this reason? Myra, you don’t have to accompany . It’s okay, I will manage."

"No~ .... I promised you," Myra’s voice was firm.

"You promised her as well. You have already returned her gift. So, if you don’t go tomorrow, that would co off as rude. And besides,~ .... they are my grandparents. I can go to the airport alone. It’s not like they would eat up alive or sothing, hmmm. And~ .... you know~ .... Secretary Grey sent the details about their stay, and apparently, the place they are going to stay is~ ... take a guess," Yelena mumbled.

"The Crown Opulence," Myra answered.

"Aaahaaa~ .... Bingo," Yelena snapped her fingers. "So, after fetching them from the airport, I will drive them to the hotel. Eventually, we will be going to the sa place."

"But~ ... will you be really, okay?" Myra asked with concern.

"Ahha~ .... Of course. Don’t think about cancelling the dinner eting, alright," Yelena spoke. She then yawned and mumbled, "I will be going to my room now. Good night."
