Large numbers of Orefiends were swept along by the celebrating crowds toward the altar outside the city.

Aside from the Orefiends themselves, most of the revelers already knew what awaited them. Yet none of them found it particularly cruel. On the contrary, they treated it like a wonderfully entertaining spectacle.

That feverish atmosphere spread throughout the entirety of Fallen Revelry.

The Orefiends, having forgotten everything, drowned themselves in an ocean of joy. Without even realizing it, they entered the range of the altar.

And those who had been celebrating beside them only monts ago had, at so point, vanished from their surroundings.

By the ti the Orefiends ca back to their senses, they were shocked to discover that the once-lively procession now consisted of only their own people.

"Old York, what’s going on? Wasn’t that elf girl really into you just now? Where did she go?"

"No idea... maybe sothing ca up?"

More and more Orefiends began to realize that sothing was wrong. They looked around, only to find mbers of their own race.

Everyone else had disappeared without them even noticing.

"Right... where is this place? Weren’t we supposed to be taking part in Fallen Revelry?"

At that mont, soone noticed the enormous altar up ahead.

The altar covered an area roughly the size of a standard football field. The ground was packed with dense, intricate runes. To the Orefiends, it was a sight unlike anything they had ever seen before.

"Wait... did we co to the wrong place?"

So of the sharper Orefiends had already started trying to turn back. But after walking only a few hundred ters, they found a black mass of bows aid directly at them.

"What are those lords trying to do?"

The Orefiends cried out in despair. Yet anyone stubborn enough to keep walking back was instantly turned into a pincushion by a storm of arrows.

At that mont, the Orefiends finally realized they were not getting out.

Those "friends" who had just been drinking and laughing with them were now all standing atop the city walls, continuing their revelry.

And the Orefiends had been trapped inside the altar.

Even now, they still had no idea what was happening.

But that did not stop them from feeling a terror rising from the depths of their souls.

The bows in those soldiers’ hands had originally been forged by the Orefiends themselves. No one understood the terrifying power of those weapons better than they did.

At that mont, the Orefiends felt as though they had been abandoned.

The bows, the armor worn by the other demons, even this very altar—everything had been made by the Orefiends.

But now?

It seed they were about to be sacrificed.

"Why? Were we not obedient enough? But we clearly completed every task the lords gave us."

"I gave everything I had... so why are you still treating like this?!"

It was as though the Orefiends had already guessed their fate. One after another, they clutched their heads and broke down in tears.

They could not understand it. They had given so much, so why were they still being cast aside in the end?

So... the Orefiends had never truly been counted as part of the demon race at all!

Because in the eyes of the other demon races, the Orefiends were nothing more than NPC miners.

Alive, they could mine ore. Dead, they could be turned into Emotion Stones. Such perfect tools—how could anyone possibly allow them freedom?

...

anwhile, in the lower district of Fallen City,

the figures of Caelan and Evelyn appeared inside a dilapidated shack.

This was part of Fallen City’s gray zone. Even high-ranking demons would not set foot here lightly.

So for the ti being, Caelan and Evelyn did not need to worry about their identities being exposed.

Evelyn sohow produced a map of Fallen City. The intelligence on it was so detailed that it even marked every sewer pipe.

In truth, Evelyn was even more capable than she had let on.

Most importantly, the map also marked the storage location of the Fragnts of History!

When Caelan saw the map, he was equally startled. But Evelyn quickly explained.

It turned out all of this had only been accomplished after Supre Staff took action.

"Senior Supre Staff, have you found the approximate location of the Fragnts of History?"

Evelyn looked at Supre Staff with bright, expectant eyes.

In fact, earlier, Evelyn had deliberately steered the conversation and coaxed the Mind Demon King Shaki into answering a few questions. Her true purpose had not been to ask anything at all, but to help Supre Staff pinpoint the location of the Fragnts of History.

Faced with Evelyn’s hopeful gaze, Supre Staff imdiately responded.

It floated high into the air and circled near the ceiling, clearly in an excellent mood.

"Of course. Since I personally took action, how could I possibly fail to find it?"

Supre Staff itself was an extrely special existence. In Shaki’s eyes, the secrets that even the awakeners could not perceive seed, before Supre Staff, as obvious as if they had been pasted right above soone’s head.

As one of the most powerful weapons of the previous era, Supre Staff was fully confident in locating the exact position of the warehouse Instance.

Of course, it rely needed a little ti.

But just then, Evelyn suddenly said,

"Lord Caelan, if I rember correctly, you still owe a favor, don’t you?"

Caelan did not hesitate in the slightest and imdiately nodded.

That favor was from the ti, back in the Divine Tomb (Godfiend Trials), when Caelan had obtained the [Essence of the Sun Ancient Tree].

"That’s right."

Evelyn nodded, then picked up the map and pointed to a location on it.

"We’ll split up. Please give these damned demons an unforgettable lesson!"

...

At the altar,

every last one of the Orefiends had entered.

And around the altar, a massive energy barrier was rapidly taking shape.

In just a few breaths, the barrier had completely sealed off the entire altar.

The Orefiends now understood that there was no escape.

So all they could do was pray—pray that those noble lords might spare them.

But the prayers of the Orefiends were destined to an nothing.

The next mont, several enormous launching devices rose from the four corners of the altar.

The instant the Orefiends saw those chanisms, their faces went deathly pale.

As the makers of those launchers, no one understood their power better than they did.

Wait... weren’t these supposed to be used to slaughter invaders?
