Chapter 939: Chapter 928: Sword Dao!

Ning Fan didn’t rush to head ho but instead spent so ti with Lan Kexin. The two continued walking down the street, with the car still a distance away.

“Ning Fan, will you be willing to keep pretending to be my boyfriend later on?”

Lan Kexin suddenly asked calmly. Her eyes glimred with an indescribable emotion, but since her head was lowered, Ning Fan couldn’t tell what she was truly thinking.

Upon hearing Lan Kexin’s words, Ning Fan nodded, but in the next second, he shook his head. It was unclear whether he agreed or not.

“I an, it’s possible, but we can deceive them for now, not forever!”

Ning Fan sighed. Ultimately, it was still a well-intentioned lie. It could temporarily fool Lan Kexin’s mom, but it wasn’t a long-term solution, as flaws in the story would inevitably arise.

Though Lan Kexin could claim they had broken up later, even then she’d still face pressure to date quickly and get married. In the end, nothing would truly change.

“I guess we just take it one step at a ti…”

Lan Kexin’s face showed a hint of disappointnt, but she still tried her best to put on a smile.

Ning Fan noticed her strained smile and montarily felt distracted. However, he nodded in acknowledgnt and didn’t counter her words.

After escorting Lan Kexin ho, Ning Fan finally caught a cab and returned to his own place alone.

Just as he reached ho, a ssage arrived from Ouyang Feifei.

It was regarding the Umbrella…

“Interesting. If that Teng Yun Geshang bastard knew that his death led to the Umbrella turning into this ss, I wonder what he’d think…”

Ning Fan mused wistfully.

The current state of the Umbrella was complete chaos. In simple terms, it was now nothing but a ss of muddy water.

However, Ning Fan didn’t care about the Umbrella’s inner turmoil. Whatever disorder they faced no longer had any bearing on him. They couldn’t affect him anymore.

“Back so late? Where did you go?”

As Ning Fan checked his phone, Xu Xiaoqing appeared out of nowhere, standing right in front of him and sniffing around like a bloodhound.

“You have another woman’s scent on you!”

At that mont, Xu Xiaoqing’s inner detective—or perhaps her dog-nose instincts—manifested, allowing her to sll another woman’s scent on Ning Fan. Her ability genuinely left Ning Fan astonished.

“Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing? I’m not a criminal, and don’t look at like that, okay?”

Ning Fan scratched his head and looked at Xu Xiaoqing helplessly.

The way she stared at him made him feel like a suspected criminal or a cheating husband.

But Xu Xiaoqing righteously replied, “I’m looking out for my sister! You’d better confess honestly, Ning Fan. Did you et up with other won tonight?”

Ning Fan couldn’t help but laugh as he looked at Xu Xiaoqing. She had the deanor of soone preparing to interrogate him. He intentionally acted as though intimidated by her, raised his hands in surrender, and said, “I did et with a woman, but not in the way you’re imagining. I was simply helping her out—nothing more, don’t overthink it.”

“Hmph, so you admit it, huh? Ning Fan, you already have my sister, yet you still dare to entertain another sneaky cat. Do you have a death wish?”

Xu Xiaoqing glared at Ning Fan ferociously, resembling soone ready to heroically slay a traitor of her family.

Despite her petite stature, the energy she emitted was overwhelming, even catching Ning Fan’s attention. After hearing Xu Xiaoqing’s words, he rolled his eyes and countered, “Do I look like I’m lying? Have I ever lied to you?”

Ning Fan fired back, wearing a falsely aggrieved expression, as though accusing her of wrongly judging him.

Yet Xu Xiaoqing was having none of it. She smirked coldly and snapped, “Oh, please! Like you haven’t lied to before. Why don’t you swear on it? If you’ve ever lied to , you’d turn into a puppy. Dare to swear?”

“Would jokes count?”

“That has to count too. I said lies!”

“Ah, so you were joking with . Geez, you scared —don’t make jokes like that, okay? Anyway, let in. I’ve had a busy day and I’m tired!”

As Ning Fan moved to leave, Xu Xiaoqing quickly tugged at his sleeve, shouting, “Oh, running away because you’re guilty?”

“Co on, my dear lady. Please just let off the hook!”

Ning Fan rolled his eyes exaggeratedly. He hadn’t done anything wrong today, yet he was being scrutinized the mont he returned.

All he did was help soone out. Instead of receiving gratitude, he ended up being misunderstood, as though he had gone out to et so sneaky cat.

Of course, that wasn’t remotely true. Unable to fully explain himself, Ning Fan simply decided to ignore Xu Xiaoqing’s pestering entirely. He went upstairs and locked himself in his room.

“Xu Xiaoqing, why don’t you just rena yourself to Bao Zheng, huh?”

Ning Fan shouted teasingly from behind the door, finally returning fire.

His intent wasn’t to complint Xu Xiaoqing. After all, while Bao Zheng was known for his sharp judgnt, he famously had dark skin…

Xu Xiaoqing clearly realized his jab and, baring her sharp little canines in indignation, yelled back, “If I’m Bao Zheng, then you’re Chen Shii!”

“Well, at least Chen Shii had a princess. How am I anything like him?”

“Quit arguing!”

The two bantered through a closed door, though the exchange felt a bit different from earlier. Gradually, Xu Xiaoqing’s face lit up with a smile as Ning Fan’s quips amused her into laughter.

Finally, Ning Fan managed to charm her into a good mood, freeing himself from her interrogation ordeal.

“I’ll let you off this ti, but rember—if I catch you consorting with other won again, I’ll chop you up!”

Hearing Xu Xiaoqing’s final warning from beyond the door, Ning Fan instinctively covered his lower half, feeling a chill run through him.

“Wow, this little devil has gotten even fiercer…”

Sotis, Ning Fan really couldn’t tell whether Xu Xiaoqing was joking or serious—like earlier, he had a strong sense she wasn’t joking at all.

It was still early, not even ten o’clock. Despite claiming he’d had a tiring day, Ning Fan wasn’t actually all that exhausted. It was just an excuse.

Seeing the ti, and with sleep nowhere on the horizon, Ning Fan didn’t want to waste it. He sat cross-legged on the bed, murmuring the mnemonic verse for the Eight Zen Mantra as he began cultivating.

“I’ve already found my Sword Dao. Now I must steady my Sword Intent and Swordsmanship. I’ve committed all the Eight Zen Mantra’s sword techniques to mory, but I still need to discover the swordsmanship that suits best!”

A ghostly blue light glimred in Ning Fan’s eyes, white vapor rising from his head as a hushed stillness settled over the room.
