He carefully adjusted the direction, searching along the position previously indicated by the Hunter.
Initially, the view was filled only with swaying bushes and jagged rocks.
But soon, a few blurred moving spots that slightly differed from the environntal colors caught his attention.
He held his breath and set the magnification to the maximum.
No mistake!
It's a heat source!
Approximately at one o'clock direction, about 800 ters away, on the eastern edge of the valley.
Three heat sources were in a loose vigilance formation, cautiously advancing along the riverbed edge.
Without needing to ask, one could tell by their formation and advancent posture that these were the Vanguard of the Kurd Ard.
Further back, about hundreds of ters away, there seed to be faint signs of orange-red heat sources releasing around the edges of rocks.
Suddenly, a faint humming sound vaguely ca from the high sky.
"Grim Reaper UAV..."
Song Heping gestured to the Hunter.
Hunter nodded slightly, indicating he understood.
He had no interest whatsoever in even looking up.
The position they chose for shooting was inside a rock cave halfway up the mountain, with the entrance facing down and naturally covered by vegetation and rocks.
Unless a US Army UAV happens to fly directly overhead and perform a near-vertical scan, it's impossible to discover this small cave entrance, let alone the two people hiding inside.
The thick rock layer effectively isolated their heat signals, making it impossible for the opponent to detect them.
Just as Song Heping predicted.
In the sky, the US Army's MQ-9 "Grim Reaper" UAV, like a circling Vulture, conducted ticulous reconnaissance around the northern edge region of Mannier Valley.
Its high-resolution caras and infrared sensors swept over the mountain and valley below again and again.
The pilot's voice was clearly transmitted back to the command center through the data link:
"Command, 'Death God-2' reporting. Grid area 8-1-2-1 has completed preliminary scanning, no significant heat signals or suspicious moving targets detected. Complex vegetation and rock structure on the ground indicates nurous blind spots. Currently observing the riverbed area, our ground units advancing according to plan. Over."
In the forward command center, Major Jas stared at the electronic sandbox displaying the UAV track as a dashed line and the blue dots representing the "razor" squad and Kurdish Company, his brow slightly furrowed.
No discovery?
The opponent is indeed cunning.
But he believed the signal captured by the "Wind Listener-1" electronic reconnaissance aircraft wasn't accidental.
The opponent must be in that area, just concealed using the terrain.
"Langsen."
Jas picked up the microphone, his tone indisputable, "UAV reconnaissance found no anomaly, but the possibility of the target using complex terrain to hide is not excluded. Continue advancing toward the coordinate area as planned, stay alert. Expand search range with the Kurdish Company as the vanguard. Imdiately engage upon contact and call for fire support!"
"Razor received, continuing advance."
Captain Langsen turned back and made a gesture, the team mbers imdiately changed formation, proceeding with greater vigilance about 200 ters behind the Kurdish Vanguard.
Inside the cave.
The crosshair in Song Heping's observation mirror firmly captured those three Kurdish Vanguard.
"Distance 780 ters, left crosswind, wind speed about 3 ters per second. Humidity is moderate."
Song Heping reported the corrected paraters in an extrely low voice to the Hunter.
These data are crucial for long-range precision shooting using subsonic bullets since these bullets are more easily affected by environntal factors.
Hunter slightly adjusted the knob on the scope, his breathing beca longer and lighter.
His index finger gently pre-pressed the trigger, feeling the resistance at that critical point.
In the scope, the head of the Kurdish Vanguard in front appeared right below the center of the crosshair, leaving a slight ballistic droop.
"Target locked."
Hunter's voice was flat without a ripple.
"Free to engage."
Song Heping issued the shooting command.
