A copper penny stumps the hero; does Jas have the capital to disagree with Gao Yang’s suggestion?
Who says that being able to fight will definitely bring money? Who dictates that as a top-notch Special Forces elite, you are bound to get rich? Nowadays, it’s clearly more difficult to earn money than to fight wars.
How many of those soldiers, trained in the art of killing, have a livelihood skill beyond their combat abilities?
Unlike ordinary soldiers who retire after a few years of service, for a professional soldier like Jas MacLean, aside from his fairly generous pension, where else can he get money? If he wants to make a big sum in a short ti, what else can he do besides selling the skills he learned in the army?
For soone like Jas MacLean, he could live peacefully on his pension, but if faced with major changes, or having so particularly expensive hobbies, or unable to leave the military life behind, he’d beco a rcenary without hesitation, or work as a legitimate PMC if he had concerns and wanted to stay within the rules.
Whether as a rcenary or PMC, there’s no problem, but the question is whether these jobs will definitely earn a fortune? This issue has been talked to death, essentially a rcenary’s chance to make big money depends on luck, and Jas is fortunate because he t Gao Yang.
Satan may not be the most powerful rcenary group, but it’s definitely one of the most lucrative ones—perhaps even removing the ’one of’. Jas does not know this yet, but he will soon.
"No problem!"
Jas MacLean was uncertain about what to think, but after hesitating for a mont, he finally spoke, and once he did, Gao Yang nodded and said to Yake and Number Thirteen, "Give your cash."
Gary smiled and said, "Great, this is a win-win for three parties, but I want to know which rcenary group you’re with? Surely you can tell that?"
Gary was very rule-abiding; Gao Yang nodded and said, "Of course, we are Satan."
Jas did not react; he hadn’t heard the na. For a newly retired soldier living in a high degree of confidentiality and seclusion, the na Satan ant nothing.
But for Gary, that was different. Even if the na Satan rcenary Corps might not be exceedingly famous, it’s certainly well-known.
"What? You’re Satan?"
After exclaiming in surprise, Gary pointed at Jas and laughed, "Buddy, you’ve gone far."
After saying this with a chuckle, Gary said nothing more. After Gao Yang paid twenty-four thousand pounds for Jas, he followed Jas’s car. Now, he was going to see if Jas really had a daughter with renal failure.
There are scouts for discovering sports stars, talent agents for singers and dancers, but in the rcenary business, there aren’t specific scouts discovering potential newcors, although interdiaries exist.
By introduction, they recruited a retired Special Forces soldier, which is one of the most common ways for rcenary groups to hire newcors. Another way is for a forr soldier to self-recomnd wishing to join a rcenary group, similar to company recruitnt. Jas, retired from the SBS, is akin to a graduate from a prestigious university and certainly more sought-after.
However, for Gao Yang, he had no intention of recruiting newcors; encountering Jas was pure coincidence. Moreover, Jas was from the SBS, like a prestigious university graduate matching the profession. Naturally, you want to recruit and test him first.
Satan currently lacks nothing except soone proficient in water operations, and if Jas wasn’t from the SBS, Gao Yang might not have decided to recruit him so easily.
"Why did you decide to hire a newcor abruptly without any assessnt? Although he’s from the SBS, considering Satan’s current reputation, you could recruit soone from any military in the world. Yet, you suddenly decided to hire soone you know nothing about, and he’s half-disabled."
Yake was sowhat puzzled, but Gao Yang calmly said, "Honestly? I just found him agreeable."
Yake frowned and asked, "Just because he’s agreeable?"
"Simply because he’s agreeable, truly."
Gao Yang wasn’t lying; everyone in Satan was recruited by him individually, with a significant factor being that he found them agreeable.
Satan expanding is too easy now, but Gao Yang never intended to expand; Satan remains famous but consists of only a few people because Gao Yang doesn’t want to expand as he’s afraid it would disrupt Satan’s unity.
Within the rcenary circle, Satan is definitely an outlier since few mbers are actual veterans from reputable Special Forces. From genuine Special Forces, only Eileen, Taylor, and Albert are from such backgrounds; the rest co from ordinary forces, and so even have unconventional origins.
Gao Yang himself, Cui Bo, Frey, Rafael, Jansen, Tommy, Lucica—these individuals before making a na, would absolutely not have been valued had they sought employnt at famous rcenary groups, but Gao Yang brought these unconventional paths to dominate the industry scale, turning Satan into a super rcenary group. This is Gao Yang’s skill, even surpassing his gunmanship.
Each Satan mber is indispensable; everyone has an irreplaceable skill balanced across all aspects, capable of holding their own when needed. Individuals like Gao Yang and Frey compared comprehensively with those from branded forces like Jas would be a joke; there’s no comparison.
Thus, Satan succeeds through team balance rather than individual prowess. In terms of individual strength, both the Angel and Iron Madonna rcenary groups composed of veterans from big-na Special Forces easily outmatch most in Satan, but in overall comprehensive ability, Satan fears no one.
Satan is far from perfect but very balanced, and extrely cohesive. Incorporating soone from the SBS fills a previously unfamiliar area for Satan; with Jas, Satan doesn’t imdiately excel in amphibious and underwater operations but can avoid mistakes and unfamiliarity within such environnts, which is sufficient. Besides, Jas is an assault trooper, precisely the role Satan most needs to fill.
The reason Gao Yang chose Jas over many retired Marines without recruitnt is purely because he found him agreeable imdiately, deciding to bring him into Satan despite his semi-disabled left arm—just because he felt Jas’s temperant fit Satan. Why not give it a try? A million pounds isn’t too much for Satan; if Jas turns out unsuitable, he could be placed in Somalia or kept ready for Yen instead. Whatever the case, paying one million pounds for five years of an SBS assault trooper’s service is unquestionably worthwhile. (To be continued.
