Chapter 1571: Chapter 1550: Aerial Battle
Gao Yang, full of excitent, didn’t have ti to be happy for long before he had to pull out his phone again. Seeing that it was a call from Hagel, he quickly answered loudly: “General.”
“Can you run? If you really can’t, then get ready to welco an air raid and tank attack.”
Gao Yang awkwardly said: “Planes? Tanks?”
“The 72nd Independent chanized Brigade stationed on the outskirts of Kyiv City has dispatched six T-84M tanks and about twenty armored vehicles. They will attack your location after joining forces with infantry, estimated arrival ti is about an hour.”
Gao Yang looked at his watch, rubbed his chin, and said helplessly: “No way out?”
“I can’t stop them, the 72nd Brigade has explicitly refused my command.”
“Can you deploy another unit to block the tanks of the 72nd Brigade? Anyway, Ukraine has already started a civil war, so you shouldn’t care about such a small thing, right?”
“Yes, I don’t care, but the 72nd Brigade is the only chanized unit near Kyiv, there’s no ti. However, I think you should be more worried about the threat from the air; two SU-25 attack aircraft took off with munitions seven minutes ago, they should be arriving anyti based on the timing.”
The SU-25 can’t carry laser-guided bombs, which was the only comforting thought for Gao Yang. He paused and said deeply: “Even attack aircraft are deployed? Such a strong determination? It shouldn’t be, so, when will they arrive?”
“5.”
“Five minutes?”
“4, 3, 2, 1.”
“F**k!”
Gao Yang looked up because he heard a whistling sound.
The whistling of jet engines wasn’t loud yet, but hearing it ant the planes were close by. When the whistling becos particularly loud, like it’s overhead, the planes have already completed their bombing run and left.
Gao Yang yelled at the top of his lungs: “Cover! Cover! Air raid!”
In an instant, Gao Yang heard a loud whistle. He looked up at the sky and actually saw the glow of the aircraft’s tailpipe through the night vision device.
Two planes flew overhead at low altitude but did not drop any bombs.
A mont later, there was a flash of fire in the sky, then another, and after the planes quickly disappeared, two more flashes appeared.
The flashes actually flew off into the distance.
Two fireballs erupted in the sky, very bright through the night vision device, just not far from Gao Yang.
Gao Yang watched two explosions happen in the sky, and apart from that, saw nothing else. But he realized the planes that flew overhead probably weren’t attack aircraft ant to kill, but rather amulets ant to protect.
The SU-25 is a twin-engine subsonic attack aircraft, the sound is clearly different from high-speed fighters, and Gao Yang could definitely tell the difference, he just hadn’t had ti to react earlier.
Gao Yang brought the phone to his ear and said shakily: “Did you dispatch fighters to protect us?”
“Yes, four MIG-29s.”
“Couldn’t you have told earlier?”
“I just wanted to let you know my importance. Telling you in advance or letting you be saved from fear feels clearly different, right?”
Gao Yang exhaled loudly: “Yes, now I feel like I’ve escaped death, but by doing this, can you still see tomorrow’s sunrise? I think maybe you should run now?”
With Hagel’s actions, it’s strange if the current official governnt of Ukraine doesn’t want him dead. Gao Yang is very worried Hagel might not even make it until dawn, being taken away, dismissed, and then naturally thrown into prison.
Hagel confidently said: “I am the highest military commander of this country. Before a new president is elected, all orders I give are legal. Any act of deploying troops bypassing is a military coup!”
After speaking confidently, Hagel gave a bitter laugh: “Of course, that’s all nonsense now. I’ve been sidelined, so before I’m thrown into prison, I’m going to lead the subordinates destined to be purged with to fight back. We’ve decided to run to Russia for political asylum. If Russia refuses us, then we’ll go to the East.”
Gao Yang exhaled loudly: “The aerial threat is eliminated, what about the ground threat?”
Hagel lanted: “I really can’t do anything about the ground tanks. I can’t command the Kiev surrounding ground forces anymore, and there’s no ti. As for the Air Force, attack planes and fighters belong to different airfields. I can send fighters and bombers, but can’t send attack planes. Maybe I can send ard helicopters. The order has been issued, and soone is executing it, but I haven’t received a reply. I don’t know if it’s because I can’t deploy Army Aviation forces anymore, or the pilots below refuse to take off, so you’ll have to rely on yourself.”
Gao Yang said deeply: “Understood, as long as there’s no threat from the air, I’ll handle the ground. Tanks aren’t actually that hard to fight.”
With tanks coming, although there’s so ti left, the wounded here can’t leave either, so Gao Yang can only wait for the tanks to attack.
Gao Yang was trying to find a way, but besides taking out the enemy tanks, what could be the solution?
Gao Yang yelled into the walkie-talkie: “Jurgen, a lot of tanks and armored vehicles are about to co here. We have rocket launchers and anti-tank missiles, get people over to get ready for anti-tank, hurry!”
Gao Yang quickly rushed into the building.
The interior was in chaos, with room after room used as wards. The doctors who were brought in as hostages began playing their roles, the place was chaotic, and the dical supplies and blood plasma brought there were all ssed up. A group of people was frantically selecting usable dical supplies, so were giving everyone blood plasma, and others were tending to wounds.
Unfortunately, this busy yet hope-filled scene might soon be reduced to ashes.
Gao Yang ran into the place where the missiles were stored, strapped on an anti-tank missile, carried an anti-aircraft missile, and rushed out again.
In Ukraine, Gao Yang truly wasn’t lacking in weapons, and although these weapons were quite expensive, he didn’t have to spend a penny, so in the spirit of being prepared, he prepared a lot of single-soldier usable ordnance.
