Capítulo 1882: Chapter 1859: Do You Still Like War?

Cui Bo saw Gao Yang and the others, so he took a few steps forward and urgently asked, “Did you find out anything over there?”

Gao Yang shook his head and shouted, “No, I haven’t seen many Doleisherlian people, and no one knows where Lilia’s unit has been deployed.”

“Then let’s wait a bit, maybe we’ll get news soon. However, it’s only the wounded being sent back. I reckon Lilia won’t be back before the battle ends.”

Cui Bo wanted to see Lilia, but he didn’t want to see her here. If she was sent back, it was either as a wounded or as a corpse. Seeing Lilia here would be bad news.

While they were talking, a truck drove over. As the vehicle got closer, Cui Bo felt his heart pounding faster.

“More wounded are being sent back. Let’s go check it out.”

The four of them approached the truck, and as soon as it stopped, the driver jumped out and imdiately shouted, “Hey! We need people to carry the wounded! Hurry!”

It was a truck with six people sitting in the bed. The driver quickly ran to the back of the truck, opened the tailgate from the outside, and shouted to Gao Yang and the others, “Co help!”

Gao Yang whispered, “Let’s help.”

Cui Bo couldn’t help. He stood there, watching the people in the truck, and he realized that the injured inside were from the Doleisherlian, so he got excited.

“Have you seen Lilia? Has anyone seen Lilia?”

Most of the wounded had the sa expression—exhausted, pained, numb. Several heard Cui Bo’s shouting but no one answered, they just shook their heads in unison.

Gao Yang stood at the back of the truck, looking at the situation inside. He couldn’t help but rub his forehead.

Seated were the lightly wounded, while those lying flat in the truck were severely injured. Just as Gao Yang stood at the back, a severely injured person’s arm dangled down. Seeing the person’s completely vacant eyes, Gao Yang knew there was no saving him.

Gao Yang stretched out his hand to catch a lightly wounded person jumping down. As he let go of the ones who could still walk on their own, he whispered into the walkie-talkie, “Jerry, answer when you hear this, over.”

“This is Jerry, what’s up, Boss?”

“Co out here and help with so work, over.”

The lightly wounded descended first, then Gao Yang and Glolov got onto the truck. After checking the inside and not finding any won, they both breathed a sigh of relief and began to move those who couldn’t move, passing them to people below with stretchers.

The position outside the truck bed was for the wounded, while the inside was for the corpses. To bring back all the wounded and bodies from the battlefield as quickly as possible, the dignity of the dead couldn’t be cared for. Many bodies were piled up. There’s no other choice; the battle was still ongoing, and sparing people to gather bodies was already difficult.

There were about ten corpses and around twenty wounded. Gao Yang and Glolov moved the wounded, prioritizing those who might still be saved. As for those who were definitely beyond saving, they’d have to wait. Living people are more important than the dead, that logic is the sa everywhere.

Jerry promptly ran over, first taking a look at the nurous wounded, then shouting at Gao Yang on the truck, “Boss, what’s up!”

Gao Yang whispered, “Get up here and help.”

After speaking, Gao Yang nudged Glolov with his arm, and the understanding Glolov jumped down from the truck, giving space to Jerry.

Jerry got onto the truck, stood in the blood-soaked bed, and imdiately furrowed his brows, but he said nothing. Instead, he started helping Gao Yang move the dying wounded to the people waiting below.

Cui Bo waited below the truck. He couldn’t talk to those severely wounded, but as he watched each of the Doleisherlian’s wounded being brought down, his face grew increasingly grim.

Waiting outside the crowd, when a mobile lightly wounded person ca out, Cui Bo imdiately asked urgently, “Do you know where the recruit platoon is?”

The wounded person, around forty, wore a gray, old jacket and glasses. His left arm was bloody. He shook his head and whispered, “I don’t know. Do you have a cigarette?”

Cui Bo shook his head, then as another lightly wounded person was being assisted out, he stepped aside and loudly asked, “Do you know where the recruit platoon is?”

“Do you have a cigarette?”

“Do you know where the recruit platoon is?”

“Do you have a cigarette?”

That soldier wanting a cigarette quickly got what he wanted, but Cui Bo received no answers. Although he had anticipated this outco, without asking, he felt empty and at a loss for what to do.

Soon, all the wounded were offloaded, leaving only the corpses. The driver looked at the truck bed and loudly asked, “Any survivors left?”

Gao Yang shook his head. The driver imdiately said, “I’ll move the truck forward a bit to unload the bodies. Can you guys help gather the bodies? We’re really short-handed.”

“No, we can’t leave.”

The driver didn’t waste words. He started the truck, moved it to the corpse unloading area, then jumped out again and yelled at Gao Yang, “You guys unload the bodies. I’m going to get so water; I’m dying of thirst. Too many wounded, too many corpses—this battle’s a real *****.”

The driver ran off, leaving Gao Yang and the others to unload the bodies. People were willing to gather around the wounded, but no one wanted to do the job of unloading bodies.

Gao Yang and his group had seen too many corpses; unloading them didn’t evoke much feeling. It wasn’t like moving ordinary objects, but it didn’t bring severe psychological impact either—except for Jerry.

Cui Bo couldn’t move the bodies; he just stood aside watching. Gao Yang and Jerry removed the corpses from the truck, while Li Jinfang and Glolov arranged them in the morgue.

“The units have long been scattered. Most of the corpses aren’t from Doleisherlian.”

To reassure Cui Bo, Gao Yang made this comnt, but his hands stopped moving. Jerry, who had already grasped the body’s feet, looked up at him with a puzzled expression.

Gao Yang recognized the body they were going to move. It was Lilia’s brother. After a montary pause, he sighed, and he and Jerry lifted the body to pass it to Li Jinfang and Glolov.

Of course, Cui Bo quickly noticed that body, but he didn’t have a strong reaction. He took off his glasses, wiped his eyes, and murmured, “Damn this.”

Li Jinfang muttered gloomily, “He wasn’t with the recruit platoon.”

Jerry quietly asked, “You guys know him?”

Gao Yang nodded, “Kind of. He’s Lilia’s brother.”

After saying this, Gao Yang quietly asked Jerry, “Let ask you a question. Do you still like war now?”
