Chapter 4669: Soul Separates
“He went into the cabin this morning and said not to disturb him. He hasn’t co out yet,” Leng Shuang stated, her gaze fixed on the tightly sealed cabin door.
Upon hearing this, Feng Jiu’s brow furrowed slightly, but she refrained from checking on him imdiately. Instead, she walked towards the bow of the airship and surveyed their surroundings. It appeared they were nestled within a mountain hollow, completely enclosed by lush trees and dense undergrowth, with towering peaks that seed to pierce the clouds above.
“Du Fan and Leng Hua, the two of you go and scout the area. See if there are any dwellings nearby and try to determine our current location,” Feng Jiu instructed the pair, her tone decisive.
“Yes, Master,” they replied in unison, leaping into the air and soaring away on their swords.
Feng Jiu then turned her attention to the sky. She swiftly gathered her spiritual energy within her hands, preparing to cast a protective barrier around the damaged airship. However, just as the barrier began to form, a sudden intuition flickered within her, and she glanced down at her hands, her eyes narrowing with a flash of insight.
“Do not wander off and stay within the airship,” Feng Jiu instructed the three children, her voice firm.
“Mm, we understand,” the children replied earnestly, their eyes following her as she approached the closed cabin door. They trailed behind her, watching as she knocked.
“Knock, knock.”
Feng Jiu rapped twice on the door, but there was no response from within. She called out, “If you do not open the door, I am coming in.” After a brief pause, silence still emanated from the cabin. With a subtle movent of her divine sense, she placed her hand against the door and gently pushed it open.
The cabin was surprisingly spacious. Besides a bed for resting, it contained ample room for other belongings. Feng Jiu stepped inside, her gaze imdiately drawn to the figure seated cross-legged on the bed.
A distinct aura enveloped the figure, clearly indicating the presence of a protective barrier. However, Feng Jiu’s keen senses detected that only the faintest trace of life force remained within his body at that mont.
He sat motionless with his eyes closed, appearing to be in a deep state of ditation, completely oblivious to the world outside.
Feng Jiu briefly observed him, recalling so of the things he had ntioned during their journey. She then paused and addressed the three curious children who had followed her to the doorway. “You guys, go outside first!”
“Alright,” the children replied, their curiosity piqued but obediently backing away.
Once the children had left the cabin, Feng Jiu moved closer to examine the seated figure more intently. She confird her initial assessnt – his soul was indeed absent from his physical form. A frown creased her brow. Without disturbing the protective barrier, she turned and walked away.
She rembered him ntioning that this physical body was not his original one, implying that he could not inhabit it indefinitely and that his soul had to periodically return to its true vessel. She simply hadn’t anticipated encountering this situation so soon.
Considering her recent discovery, a sense of urgency settled in her heart. It seed imperative that they leave this strange place as quickly as possible.
anwhile, Du Fan and Leng Hua, who had been tasked with investigating the surroundings, were flying through the deepening night on their swords. Suddenly, they both experienced a gradual decrease in their speed, and an inexplicable heaviness seed to weigh down their bodies.
“Sothing seems wrong…” Before Leng Hua could complete his sentence, his vision abruptly went black, and he lost consciousness, plumting from his sword.
“Leng Hua!”
Du Fan cried out in alarm, his spiritual energy surging around him instinctively. But at that precise mont, an eerie, bluish-green fla flickered into existence directly in front of him and then vanished just as quickly. Almost simultaneously, the spiritual energy surrounding his own body seed to be suppressed, his vision darkened, and he too succumbed to unconsciousness, falling downwards.
The two figures plumted from the night sky, yet they did not strike the ground. Instead, it was as if an unseen force gently cradled them, halting their fall and beginning to move them forward…
