Hearing this, the hesitant and resentful youth chid in, “Exactly! It’s not the final mont yet! If things get truly desperate, we can shatter it then. I refuse to break it now. Besides, I want to bring my mother a gift from here!”
“Don’t forget what the elders told us—this is just a trial. Staying alive is the top priority. If you want to die, I’m not going down with you.” With that, the other youth crushed his teleportation jade token, vanishing from the spot in an instant.
His departure only compounded the plight of the two already wounded. With one less ally, facing the wolf pack beca even more daunting.
