Hearing this, the few who had been about to ask questions imdiately turned their gaze toward the hall entrance. When they saw that familiar figure approaching at a leisurely pace, they instinctively rose to their feet.
There she was—that crimson figure, as dazzling as ever in their mories. The familiar face, the familiar form, stirred a surge of excitent within them.
"Feng Jiu."
They called out in unison, smiles lighting up their faces.
"Long ti no see. How have you all been?" Feng Jiu entered with a smile, her gaze sweeping over the four before nodding approvingly. "Not bad. After all these years, you all look much more mature."
"You haven’t changed a bit," Duan Ye remarked.
"No, no, you have. You’ve beco even more refined and poised," Song Ming chuckled, his gaze fixed on her.
Indeed, though Feng Jiu remained the Feng Jiu they knew from years past, ti had transford them all. She was no longer the mischievous, cunning, and unrestrained girl she once was. The weight of experience had honed her into a woman of grace and restraint.
"We never imagined we’d see you again. The mont we heard you’d returned, we dropped everything and rushed over," Ning Lang said with a warm smile, looking at her. "Feng Jiu, it’s so good to see you."
"Yes! It’s so good to see you!" Luo Fei chid in.
Hearing this, Feng Jiu smiled, gesturing for them to sit. "I’m so glad to see you all too. Honestly, this place is just perfect! All my familiar friends and family are here. I’ve only just returned, and you’ve all co to see ."
Familiar friends gathered together, and laughter filled the air. After sitting down, everyone exchanged pleasantries and small talk. Before long, more laughter drifted in from outside.
"I knew this place would be lively. Hear that? I was right, wasn’t I?" Wanyan Qianhua’s voice ca from outside, sounding as if she were talking to soone.
Recognizing the voice, Feng Jiu was slightly surprised. Rising to go out, she saw her sister and soone she hadn’t seen in ages—Wanyan Shisan—had arrived together.
"Hahaha, Feng Jiu, rember ?" Wanyan Shisan laughed heartily, striding in.
"How could I forget you?" Feng Jiu replied with a light laugh. "It’s been a long ti, that’s for sure." Her gaze shifted to Wanyan Qianhua. "Sister, how co you’re here with him?"
"I happened to be visiting the Wanyan family. Hearing you’d returned, I wanted to see you. Uncle Shisan ca along." Wanyan Qianhua smiled softly, her eyes sweeping the room. Spotting several familiar faces, she remarked, "Seems everyone ca to see you the mont they heard you were back."
"They just arrived too. Co, co inside." Feng Jiu invited them in, while Luo Fei and the others stepped forward to greet them, following inside as well.
In stark contrast to the lively chatter and laughter inside, the Black Tortoise Monarch, left outside the mansion gates, wore a sowhat gloomy expression. He knew Feng Jiu might not see him this ti, but he hadn’t expected her to simply leave him waiting like this.
As a monarch, being turned away at the door was profoundly awkward. To storm off would be unbecoming, yet to stay felt equally unbearable—truly a dilemma with no easy solution.
Ultimately, it stemd from his past mistakes. Had those events not occurred, he wouldn’t face such cold treatnt today.
Recalling Feng Jiu’s words, a strange unease stirred within him. Could it be... that they truly had no connection to Hao’er anymore?
