In fact, although at the ti when the Beastman Tribe attacked the Human Race’s large army, a large batch of troops fell under the Human counterattack. However, after bearing those losses, the Beastman side acted as if they hadn’t suffered any loss at all, allowing their dispatched troops to die out like that. Then, right after the first batch of Beastn deaths, they imdiately sent out a second batch of troops, continuously sending batch after batch to engage in a war of attrition with the Humans. It is said that at that ti, the Beastn sacrificed a large number of mid-level Beastn, but given the numbers of the Beastman Tribe, such losses were insignificant to the Beastman’s ruling class and not even on the minds of those mid-level Beastn.
The Beastman side’s plan was quite simple and direct, constantly wearing down the Human Race’s combat power under those circumstances. Once the Human mages were out of magic power and the archers ran out of arrows, they would launch a full-scale attack. With the removal of these two forces that threaten high-level Beastn, relying on their superior strength, the Beastn did not believe they couldn’t defeat the Human large army.
As a result, it was according to this plan that the Beastman side had demonstrated such performance.
In fact, at that ti, everything in the Beastman’s plan progressed smoothly. Although after both sides started a desperate fight, many Beastn indeed fell under the Human attacks, the Beastn’s offensive was not without gains. The numbers of horses, donkeys, wolves, and sheep among the mid-level Beastn were continuously growing, even without today’s events, they would still occasionally need to sacrifice so voluntarily. In those circumstances, their attack had directly caused the Humans to nearly exhaust all their arrows, and the mages, after long-term attacks, drained their magic power. Although they hadn’t reached a desolate place, the Humans had effectively lost their long-range attack capabilities by then.
Given the circumstance then, since the Human side’s situation had evolved to such an extent, their offensive was inevitably also sowhat affected. When they launched attacks against the attacking Beastn, despite any concealnt, the Beastn could feel it.
"Full-scale attack!"
Although at that point, not all of the Human Race’s long-range power had been exhausted, it didn’t affect the Beastn’s decision to launch a total attack. Although the strategic intent had not been to comnce an offensive, seeing their attacks on the Beastn yielding no great gains, while the Beastman high levels were fine, the lower-level Beastn were already itching for a fight.
At that point, the voices requesting battle within the Beastman large army were hardly suppressed. On witnessing the Human Race’s near depletion of long-range power under those conditions, in consideration of satisfying the voice of the lower-level Beastn and to avoid excessive consumption of mid-level Beastn that might provoke a Human counterattack, seeing the strategic intent was almost achieved with an order, the Beastman large army launched a counterattack without further ado.
"Fight them to the end!"
By the ti the battle had reached this stage, anyone with clear eyes in the Human Race could see they stood no chance of winning. However, owing to the Beastn’s speed, they had no opportunity to flee. In light of the situation, many people regretted the decision to deploy troops. However regretful they were, they couldn’t surrender in the face of the Beastn’s offensive.
Thus, given the human defeat was almost a foregone conclusion, concurrently with their failing, the Human high levels could only maximize their battle results post-defeat.
Under such circumstances, losing the battle ant it would be difficult to organize such a large army again. Having defeated them, the Beastman large army, if willing, could theoretically aim to seize all Human territorial domains, a possibility already within reach.
Under these conditions, given the inevitable defeat, the Human high levels hoped to create conditions to resist the Beastman invasion in their defeat.
Even in death, they intended to bite off a piece of their flesh!
The Human high levels held such thoughts in their battle against the Beastn then, and given the circumstances, barring the unexpected, relying on the Human strength if they fought desperately, they might indeed inflict so cost upon the Beastn.
However...
If the Human side truly fought to the death, there was a high probability indeed of severely injuring the Beastn. But the concern at that point was, knowing their impending deaths, how many could resolutely commit to inflicting loss upon the Beastn before dying?
Humans are inherently selfish, and in this aspect, the Human Race pales in comparison to the Beastn.
For the Beastn, one command from above and even knowing certain death, they would still choose to complete their task. This is the power of faith, as the Beastn firmly believe that if they fight bravely, their souls will enter the Divine State after death.
Influenced by this Beastman tribal culture, they genuinely wouldn’t mind risking their lives for faith.
In contrast, after the arrival of angels under Zhou Tian in the Human territorial domain, the situation improved slightly. Before that, there was never any prominent sect.
Though the struggle between divine power and royal authority might drain each other’s strength, the influence of religion cannot be negated. If the whole Human Race believed in a religion now, asking them to fight to the death against the Beastn, although knowing death was certain, the majority of the Human Race might truly do so.
Yet the current issue is how many within the Human Race genuinely have faith?
Without a doubt, in the absence of faith, people typically act selfishly. Even when the ruling Human high levels decided to use their main force to deplete the Beastn’s remaining strength, they did not consider holding out to the end. Under such conditions, while those Human high levels wanted to flee, could it be that the ordinary Human soldiers did not contemplate escape?
Clearly, it was an impossible situation.
If ants cling to life, then how much more so will humans!
If the Human side still had a slight chance of winning, for the sake of their race, Human soldiers wouldn’t mind fighting the Beastn to the end. But the issue currently at hand is, given those circumstances, not saying the Humans had no hope, but in actuality, the odds of the Human side winning under those conditions were genuinely slim, and fighting in such conditions would guarantee defeat.
Defeat ans death!
Given those conditions, it was inevitable for those Human soldiers to have other thoughts. There hadn’t been a mass rout of soldiers imdiately, but when facing the Beastn’s attack, the Human soldiers did not display any intent to fight desperately; rather, facing the Beastn’s threat, many showed fear.
Without a doubt, given the Human side’s low morale, it was evident rely persuading them to fight was problematic, let alone wanting them to weaken the Beastman side’s strength desperately; from all perspectives then, that notion had little chance of realization.
Indeed, it could be said directly that no matter how the Humans viewed it, they couldn’t withstand the Beastn’s attack. Under the onslaught of the Beastman large army, the Humans, by then, would likely suffer significant losses.
But given those circumstances, no matter how much the Human side wished to avoid that outco, they couldn’t change anything given their strength. Facing such a dangerous situation, knowing they were heading towards a great defeat, the Human high levels could only grit their teeth and choose to bear the loss. (To be continued.
