Zhang Bin stealthily made his way back to the villa on Mantou Ridge. Looking at the helicopter still hovering over Great Green Mountain and Master Tianlong flying around on his sword like a headless fly, his face showed a look of lingering fear. Thank goodness I was fast and knew the terrain so well. I managed to slip back into the villa just before Master Tianlong arrived. Otherwise, he definitely would have caught .
"Sigh... It’s true that no good deed goes unpunished. The road to saving my sister-in-law is a long one," Zhang Bin lanted, flopping onto the bed with a deep sigh.
He was finally beginning to understand that his sister-in-law, Liu Ruoi, was truly the bane of his existence, constantly dragging him into enormous trouble. If not for his few tricks, particularly his Telekinesis, he would be in a sorry state right now, captured by the Special Action Team for sure. They might have even exposed his greatest secret: that he was the Rabbit King. And they certainly wouldn’t appreciate his noble sentints, only mock them.
In truth, his Telekinesis wasn’t that powerful. It could only lift objects up to ninety kilograms, so its attacks weren’t particularly effective. It couldn’t even harm a cultivator at the Liquid State. Even a master at Rushing Pulse Peak could defend against it if they were careful, as the ability’s attacks still took ti to execute, had a set speed, and produced a faint whisper of wind. Its only advantage was that it was invisible and intangible.
Zhang Bin imdiately began to ponder a critical question: how did the Special Action Team know about the eting between the Rabbit King and Liu Ruoi? Could she have really betrayed ? he wondered. But she had denied it so persistently, and it really seed to have nothing to do with her. The question gnawed at him, leaving him restless. No matter how hard he racked his brain, and no matter how much Tutu searched online, he couldn’t find an answer.
He set the issue aside and started practicing the Pure Heart Mystique to recover his spiritual power and Special Ability. After lunch, he sat on the sofa feigning sleep, using Tutu to monitor Liu Ruoi and see her reaction.
At that mont, Liu Ruoi was standing in her room, srized by the painting Zhang Bin had created. It now hung on the wall, properly frad and even more magnificent than before, eliciting admiration from all who saw it. Liu Ruolan stood beside her, equally captivated.
"It’s so magnificent, Sister," Liu Ruoi said. "This is the most beautiful painting I’ve ever seen."
"It’s not just the painting," Liu Ruolan added admiringly. "What I love most is the poem and the calligraphy. They’re so beautiful and alluring they could draw in a person’s very Soul."
"Sister, Chen Junheng is skilled in both literature and martial arts, with unparalleled wisdom. He’s incredibly intelligent, perhaps only a little bit inferior to Brother-in-law," Liu Ruoi said with a sigh. "But I can’t stand his personality. It’s such a waste of an extraordinary person, a real pity."
"You really don’t appreciate what you have. There are very few n in this world as capable as Chen Junheng. He likes you so much, yet you don’t cherish it," Liu Ruolan said, shaking her head in exasperation. "You will definitely regret this one day."
"Sister, you nag too much," Liu Ruoi pouted.
"Forget it, forget it," Liu Ruolan sighed. "Now that things have co to this, there’s probably no way to fix it. Besides, the Special Action Team will definitely keep watching you. The Rabbit King is no fool; he won’t contact you again. Let’s just hope he doesn’t truly suspect you were the informant and decide to retaliate against us."
Clearly, she was also afraid of what revenge from the Hacker Rabbit King would entail—it would surely be terrifying.
Liu Ruoi was also worried. "But how on earth did the Special Action Team find out about him?" she said angrily. "I don’t have a single clue. I’m certain I didn’t reveal his secret, not even by accident."
"You should ask your brother-in-law," Liu Ruolan suggested. "He’s also a mber of the Special Action Team, and he and Zhao Dawei are like brothers. Maybe he can find out the secret."
True to her word, Liu Ruoi imdiately called Zhang Bin. She trusted him completely and explained the whole situation, then said coquettishly, "Brother-in-law, today I found out that there are n in the world almost as brilliant as you. But his personality is just awful. I utterly despise him..."
Zhang Bin was so annoyed he felt his beard bristling. Is she calling just to knock down a peg? he thought, then said gruffly, "Let tell you, if your brother-in-law claims to be second-best in the world, no one would dare claim to be first. Chen Junheng? He’s a long way from my level. It makes perfect sense that you don’t like him."
"Hee hee hee..." Liu Ruoi’s laugh sounded like tinkling bells. "Brother-in-law, I know you’re the smartest person in the world. If you set your mind to learning sothing, no problem or skill could ever baffle you..."
"Your brother-in-law isn’t as great as you make him out to be," Zhang Bin said, feigning surprise. "Don’t tell you still haven’t fallen for Chen Junheng because you’re still deeply in love with ?"
Since I fell for a scoundrel like you, how could I ever fall for another man? Liu Ruoi thought bitterly, but her tone remained coquettish. "Brother-in-law, why don’t you study painting and calligraphy? When will you create sothing even more masterful than Chen Junheng’s work? Then my sister and I could truly admire you and be proud. Besides, you could make a lot of money!"
It was clear she wanted to superimpose all of Chen Junheng’s positive traits onto Zhang Bin.
"The weather is lovely today! The sky is so clear, with just a few fluffy white clouds and pretty red ones drifting by..." Zhang Bin knew exactly what she was getting at but pretended not to. He rattled on with nonsense for a bit before saying gruffly, "So, what is it you really want?"
Liu Ruoi was exasperated. "Brother-in-law, can you find a chance to ask Zhao Dawei how they figured out the Rabbit King’s identity? I’m worried the Rabbit King will think I’m the one who snitched and might retaliate. The consequences would be unthinkable."
"Alright, alright, I’ll ask," Zhang Bin said before hanging up.
That’s one way to do it, but Zhao Dawei might not talk. I’ll have to use so other ans. He stopped monitoring the twin sisters who brought him so much joy and tornt. Instead, he had Tutu monitor the Special Action Team mbers near Great Green Mountain.
He was using satellite surveillance, of course—an Arican satellite, to be specific. The weather was good today with few clouds, so the feed was quite clear. Soon, Zhang Bin saw that the Special Action Team hadn’t given up their search. The helicopter was still circling, and Master Tianlong was still flying on his sword, though he was now alone, no longer carrying Zhao Dawei.
Suddenly, a multicolored flare shot up from the forest, its dazzling light blooming vividly even in the dayti.
WHOOSH...
Master Tianlong imdiately flew his sword toward the signal and descended.
The signal ca from a dense part of the forest, which the satellite couldn’t penetrate. Nevertheless, Zhang Bin felt an unprecedented sense of crisis. The mbers of the Special Action Team were all highly skilled, and that was without even ntioning the mysterious Special Abilities Group. They must have discovered sothing to have fired a flare. What did they find? he wondered anxiously.
"Tutu, quick! See if you can take control of their cell phones!" Zhang Bin said urgently.
